@@Bad888Max Check Quarterback deals in the NFL and see how they balloon every time their rookie contracts are up. It happens in every other league except the NHL, it's just more prevalent in basketball cause their player's association is the best at getting good deals in the player's failure. In the NFL, it's locked to premier positions like QB, DE, and WR with few exceptions.

I wouldn't call my Celtics favorites either. You've solved some of the issues with the front court, yes, but back court playmaking remains a problem. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown do not compliment each other as stars in this league and without consistent back court playmaking our offense will continue to be one dimensional. For what it's worth though the defense is gonna be top 5 without a doubt provided Porzingis can stay healthy.
Taytum/Brown have to step up as leaders (that was Smart and to a lesser extent Grant). Porzingis has to stay healthy/up his game, the other Williams as well...
Alot of pressure on the Js (especially with JB contract and how JT MUST have a bigger one coming up) - Smart literally ran the offense and Grant was their PJ Tucker.
Brogdon (now injured) hasn't had the space to produce and now you add in a high volume Porzingis (higher then Smart/White) it really comes down to JT going top 5 and/or JB going top 10 level when it matters most. 😮
If Porzingis is healthy, you're going to see a much different offense than you saw in the playoffs. Porzingis adds a ton to that offense. While also being a good rim defender.

I'm with Mad Dog on Brown - I'm a Celtics fan. But they didn't have a good choice besides this signing. The could trade him next summer now, if needed. it would have been difficult to get back a worthy asset by trading JB with 1 year left.

@@OdellDaGod well, if that's true, then ok, even for the overpriced supermax I'd keep him. But I'm NOT sure he is getting better after his 6th year (2021-22) and into his 7th (2022-23). His 3 point shooting was pretty bad this season - the worst of his career. His highest PER was in 2020-21 (19.9), in his 5th year. His defensive rating and +/- are all avg. His passing, playmaking, and handle are still pretty bad and he is not a high IQ player. This past season was his 7th year - so I think this is it for him. Maybe he'll become a smarter player. Overall, I'm not sure if any players in their 7th year went on to get better except a few all time greats: Magic won his 1st MVP in his 7th year. LeBron got smarter and more polished after his 7th year. Bird peaked in his 6th through 9th years. Curry's best year was his 7th year. For such a hefty sum, the Celtics could trade for a more complimentary player after next season.

I'm sorry but there's no way it's Mahomes, or anyone from the NFL currently. The last global superstar type player in the NFL most likely would have been Brady. If we're talking America, it's most likely LeBron because of his global image on and off the court. 10 years ago, this would have been an interesting debate: LeBron, Kobe, TB12, Aaron Rodgers, Trout, Crosby, Ovechkin, Tiger Woods, ect.
I'm a Celtics fan but I have the Nuggets as the favorites and I have my concerns with my Celtics, looks good in some ways but in other I have concerns specially health issues with Porzingis and Robert Williams both have problems staying healthy all season and the other concern is on the defensive end we lost Smart and Grant Williams they were the defensive personality on the team and we don't have them anymore
