    Hey, most bikes are tuned with a rider in mind. Its an impossibility for Honda to simultaneously tune this bike for a 150 pound rider and a 250 pound rider. If you are weighing in at 200-250, it is a disservice to make comment without respect to that attribute. Some 5'7" guy that weighs 150 may think the suspension feels like rocks. Please and sorry, no offense meant whatever...

    Having the right springs for your weight is the key to getting the suspension right. I replaced the front springs on my 2013 CB 1000R, and the rear shock is now a Nitron R1 w/hydrolic pre-load ajuster. Then set the compression and rebound damping to your suiting. I also improved the front brakes with new EBC rotors and HH pads, and braided lines.

    After following one of these at the weekend ( he was fare going ) I was impressed and on pulling up next to him thought the bike looked really nice tail tidy makes for a better back end look..
    140 od horses are just right for a Sunday ride out and honda do really nice build quality. The wheelie capability is exactly whats needed for an enjoyable ride too, it could be a possible next bike depending how it feels I'm a 6,2er and no light weight..
    Keen watcher of yours thanks love your riding style..

    I just got my CB1000R and have been riding in rain mode for now because it has been raining , great is the word that describes the pick up around town where I have been mainly using it and in part on main roads. Pick up is very satisfying being able to leave traffic without any fuss or drama. It is very well balanced at low speeds providing confidence in U-turns and filtering. The steering is direct giving very good feedback which inspires you to change direction with ease. The exhaust note is a low satisfying hum accompanied with burbles and pops when you release the throttle and change gear, A great bike that looks, sounds and run and will keep you thinking you are lucky to be able to ride it.

    i've had one of these for a few months, and absolutely love it, it's the first bike i've had that's made me think "i'm keeping this forever". my only 2 complaints are that after 3 years on a vfr it feels really windy, and the tank range feels short but probably isn't. handling-wise... a tippy cruiser? nicely balanced and set up, user-friendly and confidence inspiring to throw around, but doesn't pretend to be a naked fireblade. I'd actually go the other way with the sprockets though and lower the rpms, i keep trying to put it in 7th on the motorway and it could definitely pull it
    that pointless light thing changes colour depending on what gear you're in, and can be configured to flash like a shift indicator at whatever rpms you set it for. it would be better if you could have the rev counter as a speedo and the main display being a satnav, but bikes don't seem to want to play that game yet

    Hello Lamb Chops, It's the first time that I'm watching your video and I think your review sold the bike for me! I think I'm going to purchase it soon. I had an XSR900 previously and I loved it, but it was a bit too much of a hooligan for me :D I think the CB1000R will give me the smoothness which the XSR was lacking.

    you're spot on on the Mods. Had this for about a year, and this is what I've done: New shocks (I'm a fan of Ohlins, can't help it), and smaller front sprocket, slightly larger rear sprocket, That makes a HUGE difference! LOVE the look and sound of the bike. , though I put a Yoshimira exhaust on mine. did take it on a long trip and wish it had cruise control (I think its an oversight, when manufacturers like Yamaha have it on the MT-09 and MT-10). Oh, I'm also runing Micheling road 6 tires on it now (buddy recomended those, think they're great match for the bike sofar). Can't wait until winter's over here and the ice/snow is gone so I can ride the bike again! I am looking ot add (if any good sugestions) a wind screen and some saddlebags I may trow on for a weekend trip from time to time, but those would be mods I put on ust for the long trip, and leave off most the time. I do have a rear seat bag that's handy (lets me lock my helmet in it, and if I have a rider in teh back seat, can be used as a backpack, though it looks funny that way (soI made the back seater wear it :)

    Chops great review again. This one I can vouch for as I have the bike. I’m currently looking at replacing the rear shock as it’s useless. Too soft. As for the coloured light, it can act as an on the hour indication, fuel economy, different colour for every gear, and a shift up light. You can turn them all off as I have except for the shift up indicator.

    Traded in my 2013 VFR1200F for this bike. I loved the VFR. I love this one more. Much of it has to do with its being 120 lbs lighter. The VFR was like flying a B2 bomber. This is more like a stealth fighter. The VFR wasn't happy in 6th gear below 50 mph. The CB1000r doesn't care how slow you're going, it accelerates with smooth power at 25 mph even in 6th gear. I DO have the manual on the bike, and you can make those colored lights on the right side mean practically anything you want. I had a hard time with the computer, so my lights merely indicate which gear I'm in - -yellow / red / purple / dark blue / light blue / green. Of course, I could simply look at the gear indicator, but the colored lights are pretty.

      I've owned a vfr 1200 for 5 years and it's a great bike but yes it's a tank. I also own a beautiful cb1300s for 16 years but was going to trade in for one of these but....Reading reports the suspension isn't great and also the paint easily scratches and peels off. Did you find that in your case?

  • @soulrebelno1
    @soulrebelno1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've got a CB125R, and it has a white REV indicator light, and I think is the mysterious light on the CB1000R has the same function. You can alter the settings by holding down the 'SEL' button, whilst turning the ignition switch to the | (On) position. I'm doing my full 'A' licence soon, I've already had training on a CB650R, and I'm looking for my first big bike, and this is on my list!

    I did a test ride with the CB1000R several days ago. It was a 15 minute short test ride. This bike is so comfortable to ride on. The engine is very smooth and powerful. The transmission is butterly smooth. The up and down quick shifter is super smooth. If I ride this as my primary bike, I think I end up losing the riding skills to ride other bikes without quick shifter.

    • @midlifebiker7424
      @midlifebiker7424 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wont lose the skill to manual change but you will miss the QS when accelerating hard. I dont use the QS at low revs around town. If your worried than manual shift sometimes. Do you clutchless shift up now?

  • @233kosta
    @233kosta ปีที่แล้ว

    My 650R has the same traction control off button. I LOVE it! I don't much care to actually switch it off just yet, but I love that they put a switch in there *just* for that and it's in a really convenient place.
    I think one of the other comments mentioned that the colours of that light are a gear indicator. On my 650R it's just one colour (white) and is just a regular (adjustable) shift indicator.

    Many other reviews don't agree with you on the handling and your opinion on the so called flat engine, but then again it could have something to do with your height or weight that you don't get the positive feel and confidence inspiring handling that others talk about. And i know there is a way to see how much fuel is left in the tank so the thing about not being able to see how many km/miles left in the tank can't really annoy anyone. Anyways nice review and cool looking helmet.

    I got this bike, LOVE it but I did a couple of mods. FIrst, changed sprokets to make it accelerate even faster. Bar end Mirrors, and most important, Ohlins suspension (shock and forks). That made a huge idfference!. I did also get a windscreen I can pop on (screw, really) if I go on long road trips.

  • @commanderroddi7742

    Changes I made to my bike: Eventually I put Michelin Road 6 tires on ti, I put Ohlins suspension, and smaller front sprocket, slightly larger rear, it makes a difference, though even with ohlins it has a weird characteristic (I'm used to mostly having Supersport, my other naked bike veing a 2020 Super Duke R I raded it, and Yamaha R1M & Kawasaki ZX-10R and Jixer R1000 as previous bikes (though I had like ZX-6Rs in 3 or 4 different verions for like 16 to 17 years)
    I do love the looks of this bike. and since I use it as a road biek (has he said, a Roadster)

    Great work ! never ridden one, never sat on one but your comments about the gearing makes sense ! naked sports bikes seem to get over geared for some reason ! I/We don't expect 170mph from a naked but it seems it's the marketing way to sell them ?

    What you said about the rake on the front end is enough to put me off a bike on its own. Unforgivable. My first big bike was a new 2002 ZX636 and it felt like i was riding a penny farthing given the absolute lack of feel through the front tyre. Sure it was down to rake. I've had Hornets, Fireblades and R1s since and every one of them has felt absolutely planted. I quite fancied one of these, hence the reason i landed here but thats a disappointment. My little 1998 Hornet i bought about 16 years ago was the most chuckable little thing and i thought this might be a route down the nostalgia road. Unfortunately not, given you're analysis.

  • @MsDenver2

    I think the reason your feeling a bit detached from the front end could be the tyres? The standard types are not very good on some of them?

    Just looking at my CB1000R manual. The 'T' letter on the display is showing Torque Control level rather than traction control. 'P' for power and 'EB' for engine brake. When the 1st EMPTY fuel indicator segment starts flashing, odometer switches to the reserve tripmeter, so you do know how many kms you have left on the fuel you got in the tank. Once you refuel, the odometer reading comes back on. I believe the tripmeter can be adjusted.
    Looks also like this bike has factory heated grips installed.

    • @wevsky
      @wevsky 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      doesnt show remaining litres/mile though it shows litres miles ridden so yes if you have 3,5 litres reserve you have an indication,on the blade i had before this it told me how many miles i had left which would be useful on thsi as my fuel light comes on way too early at about 11.5 litres when it should come on at 12.7 approx

    So what bike in this class is your favorite or first choices ? I haven't had a big engine bike since I bought the original 1984 Ninja when it first came out, I loved the low seat hight and the stability of it at any speed up to it's top speed of around 145mph, and the seat and ergonomics was relatively comfortable compared to allot of bikes nowadays. I am considering a new bike, I have considered the Kawasaki 900 naked. but wish it had just the top part of a fairing for on the freeway, I am really not sure what bike is best for me, I wish I could get some advise, I am not going to be carving canyons on it knee dragging, but I want a confidence inspiring handling. with a gutsy engine and comfortable ergonomics and seat. thank you for any advice for some choices to check out,

    Back wheel further out i think, Not front making it feel willowy. When they make bikes longer for looks and style. You will loose handling i think. Still seems to handle well enough though and looks pretty cool.
