      Guess they just don't want. Heard somewhere that Honda say both hands belong on the grips if u ride a sporty Honda. Would not wonder if they advise us in next manual to wash our hands. Ye daddy Honda, got it. :D

      I guess because they know that people will buy it anyway! That's what happens when you create something a little bit different and it gets put towards the hipster cool bracket. People will buy it, even if it doesn't really work as well as the others, because it's cool!

      I didn't bought this bike only because of this, and I know more people saying the same. With the cheap MTs all around I wouldn't joke about sales so much, Honda is losing turf every day now, at least here in Portugal.

    Most Honda inline 4 seems to have this nasty buzz and vibration around the 5000-6000 rpm range. I've seen this first hand on CB650F, and have heard it exists on CB650R.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I heard somewhere (unconfirmed) that Honda didn’t bother with balance shafts, to reduce cost and complication. Not sure if it’s true, but the buzz was angry and spoiled a great bike for me. Could also be fueling as it seemed less with high octane fuel.

  • @ness8802
    @ness8802 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes. Shame because for the price it should be perfect. Vibration is a total NO NO fir me. The cb 400 sounds better.
    Also I don't like the single swing Arm. Crappy basic brake and clutch levers. A few people at Honda need be fired lol. Apart from all that it's a great bike , but after seeing this video it's completely put me OFF now ever thinking of getting a CB 1000 or 650

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t let this video put you off completely. The bike is brilliant. I love riding it more than anything I’ve ridden so far. The simple levers never bothered me and they were easily swapped. The radial master cylinder and calipers give stonking braking performance. The vibes is more of a tuning thing in my opinion. I fitted a boosterplug and the vibes are noticeably reduced. I really love the single sided swing arm, though i would prefer if it were black! The real killer for the bike though is the terrible finish. Paint coming off all over the place after just one year. That and the awful 20 year old rear shock. It’s horrible! 😖

  • @raiman432

    All bikes have issues I have a GS1200 the batteries in the tyre pressure sensors have died, they use button batteries about $3 Australian which are sealed in the sensors so when they go flat you have to buy new sensors it is going to cost $340.00 Australian each fitted WTF! So now I am riding with no tyre pressure readout.No big deal you might think but I got use seeing the pressures without pulling out the gauge and doing it manually. These bike companies weather they are English, Japanese or German don't give a s#_^&t. And yes I am pissed off!!🤬

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that is a special kind of annoying! The real question is, did they think that the bike wouldn’t last as long as the sensor batteries? Or do they just think that their customers have got SO much money, that they’ll just shell out ten times as much to replace 3€ batteries?! Disgusting!!

    Hi from Greece. I have the same bike almost two years and 20k km done. I agree with almost all of your complains especially the rear shock and the soft paint. I've changed quite a bit of things such as full exhaust system by akrapovic, lithium battery, mirrors, brake and clutch levers etc. Despite all gripes I absolutely love this bike, and God permits, I'm going to make it better with new mods. It's a bike that never let's you down or be vanilla as they say. Also it is very trustworthy in terms of handling and power delivery. She is my love and you are going to feel the same.

      Slow reply! It was wearing off the front from the spray from the wheel AND it was flaking off the side covers as the aluminum was corroding. It took lots of arguing to get Honda to swap the engine casing, but they wouldn’t even accept that the paint from the front of the engine wasn’t normal. Apparently it was my fault for getting the bike wet.

      Based on my experience with the quality of finish on ‚the ugly one‘ I predict that all black editions that see any moisture will look exponentially more ugly after a couple of seasons, when the swanky black finishes fall off and leave lovely swathes of corroding metal showing through. 👍🏻 Needless to say, I no longer have either and will never have one from the big H again.

    @chuckbowen4334 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My CB1000R rins smooth as glass. No vibration at all. Not buzzy. I agree about the front fender...
    The pops and crackels are usually associated wirh bad fuel mapping. Honda usually do not have that until they hit the rev limiter. Now, if you like that popping...buy a Triumph. They are notorious for popping, cracklings and sometimes
    .. bursting into flames.. Me thinks you complain too much.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess everything is relative. Maybe i'm more sensitive to the vibes or perhaps even less tolerant. Or maybe yours is just better balanced. The pops and crackles I'm talking about have nothing to do with bad fuelling, In fact most of the time they're programmed into the bike on purpose to burn off any extra fuel in the pipe and improve emissions. But it seems that with the Euro 4 gubbins in the pipe, the extra pops are either muffled out or unneeded.

    • @chuckbowen4334
      @chuckbowen4334 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The popping on decell is because unburnt fuel is detonating in the exhaust. Usually due to a rich condition. It can also hapoen in a lean condition when the innards of the exhaust get so hot, that they ignite the fuel mix again....in the exhaust.. so...fuel mapping?
      Never heard of normal popping...

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Modern bikes have an entire system dedicated to promoting the combustion of unburnt fuel in the exhaust system. Trust me, every modern electrically fuel injected bike pumps air into the exhaust tract so that unburnt fuel can burn before it leaves the bike. This burning causes the pops. It’s more noticeable if a bike has been decatted or if an aftermarket endcan has been fitted as the sound isn’t deadened. In any case, if the manufacturers put a system in to do this, then it is very normal. Also a rich mix will pop less as the extra fuel actually has a detonation retarding effect. It’s why a rich fueled engine will run smoother (and cooler) than a lean fuelled engine, in which the fuel tends to predetonate (exploding before the spark) and cause rough running leading to vibrations and increased heat.

    Wow. Great video. But... balls. Now you have put me off the Honda CB 1000 R. LOL. I am looking to buy a Naked / Retro kind of bike, and after looking at the BMW R Nine T, the Kawasaki Z900RS, the Yamaha XSR 900, the Triumph Speed Twin 1200, the Moto Guzzi VIII Stone ... I had nearly settled on the Honda CB 1000 R. But now I have my doubts.
    Truth be said, local dealers have no availability of the XSR 900, or the Z900 RS or the R Nine T... So now I do not know if to wait for more bikes to arrive, buy the Honda or jump off a cliff!
    I tested the Triumph Speed Twin 1200, it was nice, but it is too retro looking for my liking.
    For weight, height and price I have my head set on the Yamaha XSR 900, but many reviews say it is uncomfortable, and somewhat cheaply finished...
    I will keep searching. Thanks for your videos. They are great.

      The CB1000R is an awesome bike, no doubt. I’ve loved riding it, it’s impossibly good fun in the twisties, the motor is strong and it looks the tits. But the quality of finish has been a constant bother. Although i wouldn’t want to dissuade you as it’s a beautiful machine, i wouldn’t buy it new again. If you can get a good deal, you’ll probably not regret it and you’ll enjoy the bike. But list price is too much for what you get.

  • @sebastianocornelio9774
    @sebastianocornelio9774 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank God there are no crackles. Why would anyone like that when ware looking for a refined motor. Back in the day, the car would be brought in for a tune up. There’s a reason Ferrari refuses to implement that feature into their cars. Buy hey, to each his own. My 2018 CB650F doesn’t crackle either. That engine is literally music to my ears. I’ll start it up and rev it, just to hear the motor. I just got a 2022 S1000R and it doesn’t crackle either 🙏.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just so happens that pretty much every modern bike has pops and crackles. It’s built into the engine as a result of the air recycling system that is used to clean up emissions. Air is fed into the exhaust tract and any unburnt fuel is exploded before it exits the bike. The only thing is that it happens before all of the Euro5 silencing and catalysers so we don’t hear it.

    • @sebastianocornelio9774
      @sebastianocornelio9774 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndyManCam I had no idea it was for emissions. My new BMW s1000r is Euro 5 and you would be surprised at how massive the catalytic converter is. The whole system weighs 24lbs with the actual exhaust can being almost 4lbs and the headers being another 2-3lbs. That’s the bike’s biggest flaw. The massive catalytic converter being exposed with no fairing to hide it. The bike is almost whisper quiet below 4-5k rpm too. The Honda cb1000r was on my short list. BMW’s generous discount is what made the BMW my choice. There are virtually no deals with the shortages of motorcycles as well.

    I own a little Honda CB125R, I did my DAS training on a Honda CB650R, and both have the exact same problems as their big brother the CB1000R: headlight, fuelling, horn button, etc. I fitted a pair of SW-Motech bars to my CB125R, and then I fitted a pair of cheap after market Chinese LED spotlights. To be honest, I didn't think they would last, or be any good, but, they've been fantastic! They're much brighter than the factory fitted Honda LED headlight, and come with various flashing modes. They also give you a wider spread of light, so together with the main headlight, everything in front and to the side of you is lit up. I've also used them as extra DRLs over the winter, and I've noticed a big drop in the number of car drivers pulling out on me, obviously, not a 100% drop! Every bike I get from now on will be getting spotlights fitted, they've been a godsend, unlike the Honda LED headlight, which is like having a candle on the front of your bike!

      @@AndyManCam Yep, you'd expect the Honda units to be a lot better. I was very disappointed with the output, but putting the spots on has really helped. Sad but true. The worst bit is that we all just take it. If everybody stopped buying bikes and cars in protest (due to overpriced accessories, poor fuelling, bad equipment speccing, overcontrolling traction control etc..) then the manufacturers would have to take notice and change their ways. Sadly, everybody still throws their money at these unfinished products and the profit keeps rolling in regardless. It's the same with Apple and Gopro, to name but a few. They release unfinished products, knowing that hoardes of people will buy it, and then later slowly complete the development that really ought to have been finished before release!

    Holy shit everything is spot on, having this bike myself I thought you were going to be way too harsh and unfair but nope, everything makes sense. The fuel filler cap/bar is so frustrating, I spray fuel everywhere every 4th or 5th time, especially when I'm tired. The only thing is that my rear shock works great because I'm a naturally underweight person, and I don't notice the harshness, it feels very plush to me. The point about the paint though is something surprising, I thought my paint chips were from just bad luck on a mountain road and a couple stones but hearing what you said made sense, paint should be able to take pebbles or cars that drive on the highway would be covered in chips!

Granted, it is a "techie" skillset that is required to build such a thing...pehaps you might expand your circle of friends to include such an individual...& no, "deconstructing" a GoPro is not what I had in mind. The only structural mods to a helmet would be a single hole about the diameter of a pencil. As such, this built-in system would make your videos highly "stealthy".

      The cameras on all the cars are more of a functional thing. For rear view, parking assistance, sensors and the like. They’re not necessarily well placed for getting a pleasing image for my projects. Oddly enough, if you see the camera cars used for TV and movies, they have humongous mounting setups on them that you obviously don’t see in the Final product. You can have hidden cameras but mounts are a necessity to get good looking video.

      In my experience, I have to disagree. The power delivery and riding experience is far better than any bike I've ridden in the last decade. Otherwise I wouldn't have traded up! So far working on this bike has also been far easier than the Yamaha. Changing the bars took 90 minutes instead of 4 hours (and no stripped threads or bolt heads. Yamaha seem to use toffee bolts on a lot of parts). Wiring in accessories has been easier due to the open sides and various accessory plugs and cabling routes already laid out. Every bike is of course different, across a brand. Not all of them will be easy to work on. But in my experience so far, this Honda is the best I've known.

If you select less engine braking the TBs open slightly more on decel and this reduces pumping losses of the engine. With the hand throttle closed the fuel injectors are turned off regardless of the engine braking setting.

    Once again you have to ask yourself if these ' flaws' are a pure coincidence or method ?
    What is the real price difference between a good headlight and the one used ?
    What is the real price difference between a Wilbers or Ohlins shock absorber and the one used ?
    What is the real price difference between a decent front fender and the one used ?
    Why not assemble a bike that would reflect what the industry is really capable of ?
    Is it because consumers are trimmed to accept the mediocrity?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure mate. Although i do agree that they shouldn’t cut corners, i also think the price difference is probably quite large. The development time put into the headlight will have been substantial. I imagine they got to the end, realised it was rubbish and didn’t want to start again! With the shocks i think that a decent unit would be easily twice the price, maybe more. And let’s be honest, for most buyers of this bike, they’ll never even touch the adjusters, let alone notice that the shock is bad.
      Overall i think that if all the gear was properly specced, we’d be looking at KTM Superduke R money, and then nobody would buy one. They’d all have the superduke! Honda know what they’re doing. Give you just enough good stuff to get you hooked, and then relax knowing that you’ll spend more money to make it right, or just not care. They get the customers, without any of the extra cost.

    The fuelling/engine braking/throttle off throttle on is, rather lumpy (I am a new rider, so it might be me) and oh my effing father of baby J, attempting to fill the thing with petrol. It’s sooooooooo annoying.
    Lastly, I get a few false neutrals, which may be me, but I don’t think so.

    I understand that crash bars can sometimes cause vibrations. Pops and bangs are caused by poor fueling, or they're created artificially by the manufacturer because some people like it 😉

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s definitely the end can in this scenario. Maybe because the stocker provides the right amount of weight to dampen the buzz, or maybe because the fuelling gets a bit leaner. Guess I’ll never know. The pops and bangs on ‚modern‘ bikes (EFI) is created on purpose by the manufacturers, but not because people like it. It’s because of the air recirculating systems that allow fuel to burn in the exhaust, thereby improving emissions. 🤓

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think lots of people have bought them, expecting them to be comfortable cruisy retro types. But there is still quite a lot of the old fireblade left in the bikes character! So it's not quite as comfortable as the style would suggest, unless you'Re used to that type of platform. I came from an FZ1-N, so this was actually a bit of a comfort upgrade for me. Also I think there are a fair few quality control issues that are NOT typical Honda. The engine is a lot buzzier than I expected from Honda, plus the paint and welding is atrocious. Oh and the rear suspension really should have been left in the 90's. For me currently, the fun of riding the thing and also the way it looks is enough to make me keep it until something far more awesome comes along. Right now, there isn't anything that is good enough to make me trade in.
