I love BROMELIAD, I have the one is called tears of queen and I have around 150 of this, I love it!!’ Excellent videeo! The way in which bromeliads work is that the mother plant grows into adulthood and blooms and when the flower dies, a baby plant begins to grow there, which is recommended to remove it from the mother plant when it is at least 8 inches long. and in the end the mother plant ends up dying.
Living in Australia I use Casurina needles (leaves) while making up Neoregelia potting mix. I collect them along the river and the bromeliads grow really well without fertiliser. I like watching your videos Summer.
This was super helpful. It also made me aware that I should wait for the mother plant to go before I separate my urn plant pups. My urn plant is so low maintenance!! Thrives with barely any humidity and has given me 2 big pups.
I really like it when you show replanting. It helps me to see the roots in all different stages. I need to replant and am a little scared. One is a cactus planted too many in a small container.
Absolutely loved watching this, I also adore finding new uses for old pots. The guzmania I've had for about 16 months has two beautiful big pups now, it's still alive so should I leave them attached to the Mom until she dies completely? Or can I take them off earlier? I'm not really in a rush though the plant does take up a lot of space given it's structure. Thank you!
I don't water/fertilize the inside of bromeliads indoors. Just not enough of that airflow and ecosystem interactions to warrant it. From speaking with bromeliad growers in Florida, they recommended to me not to water the vases.
@@summerrayneoakes Good to know, thank you. I have a few different species growing in my patio, and I'm trying to figure out if they need ferts in the vases or not... I appreciate the advice! Gracias desde Colombia!
I guess it depends where she winds up in the house. Right now she is closer to a south-facing window, so may need to water her more frequently. When she was in my NE-facing window, I got away with a watering schedule every week or every other week.
I wonder why my bromeliad doesnt produce roots but produced one pulp? That’s why idk if I should water it or nah coz idk how it will absorb water,Anyone why?
You probably already know about this, but I've used baking soda and fresh lemon juice (successfully to get rid of rust stains on less porous surfaces. I wonder if that would work on the pot.
when I use orchid bark I get a layer of white fuzzy mold or fungus grow on the top of the pot - after I repot it happens after the first watering... I use promix and know their soil has mycorrhizae fungi, wondering if they add it to their orchid bark as well and if anyone else experiences this problem? Is this a watering issue?
Well I’ve one the mother produced 2 pups which are now as big as the mother. But not flowering or producing pups …the mother still looks well too …. Should I split will this spur on pupping it’s a really grand plant I want to do the right thing
“Graduating” to new pots - cute phrasing. They make us so proud, don’t they? 😊
Thank you for sharing how to make bromeliads to thrive. Each time I listen to you, I’m learning to be a better plant parent. 🙏
I am on the road, but I had to check this notification for sure! 👀❤🤗🍀
I'm definitely not a Bromeliad stan, but THAT is a cool looking Bromeliad! Love the color and taller structure😍
I miss your plant one on me episodes!!!!!!!!!

YAYYYY A REPOTTING VID 🎉🌿
You crack me up. An "errant cat". Vocabulary gone wild.
Thanks for the update ☺️
Bromeliads are my most favorite plant 💙

She's so pretty!!
the plant thanks you :)
Those gloves are very cute
What type of bromeliad is this??The height and curls at the end are just breathtaking.😍
If you fill the leaves when you water them every few weeks or so, it'll help them grow better. We plant them a little further down in the sand.
Wait, this was 3 years ago?! What is time even??? It feels like yesterday! 🤯
The first repotting I did was back in 2018 believe it or not. This I repotted last week.
@@summerrayneoakes Yes, I remember that video! It's incredible how fast time has flown by!
I love your posts. The way you explain things is so easy to understand Greetings from Western Australia.
I love these repot videos!! 😍
Hey Summer, nice blouse.
Very informative I very much enjoyed you repotting ❤️🦘🐨
Beautiful plant, great info thanks for showing!!!
What a beautiful plant the tall leaves are so cool. I
love bromeliaceae, especially pineapple 🍍.
beautiful plant!

I also have that same type of Bromeliad :) They grow so slow. I bought mine last 2018 and It just had a pup this year
Very beautiful
I tend to think that we have to repot every year 😣 So nice to know that that isn’t the case with all plants 😄

We have it in our garden
Helpful video. Cute top.
thanks!
I just Googled your shirt do you know where it is from? I can't find it 😋
Enjoyed repotting "with you" ! I noticed you didn't water/fert into the vase of the bromeliaed, is it necessary or is that a species specific thing?

To follow up: it's a great question by the way.

@@summerrayneoakes .... aaaand now I have to learn how to say blushing in spanish 😊
What’s the name of that bromeliad? I love your gloves, do you have a link?
WANT!!
So what will be your winter watering schedule for this Bromeliad?
I guess it depends where she winds up in the house. Right now she is closer to a south-facing window, so may need to water her more frequently. When she was in my NE-facing window, I got away with a watering schedule every week or every other week.
Great 👍
Love your gloves! Do you have a link for them or brand name?

Bom dia que planta linda ❤😍

Thanks! I used a vinegar solution and later soap and scrubber. No dice. May try baking soda and an acid next time around.

I think it will happen with any bark. It is just so porous and prone to decomposition
This an an epiphyte and you can foliar feed.
She needs to give fertilizer because Espoma
I'm curious about why you put the gloves on all the time. Is it just to keep your nails clean, or are there other reasons?
🥰
do u just do these to advertise that soil, also did u move?
Saludos desde argentina te amooo summer !
Interesting
Bromeliads put out a pup after flowering & the the mother slowly dies. That’s the cycle of a bromeliad.
Well I’ve one the mother produced 2 pups which are now as big as the mother. But not flowering or producing pups …the mother still looks well too …. Should I split will this spur on pupping it’s a really grand plant I want to do the right thing
I've split my pups from mother bromeliad once it reached half size, now mother plant producing more pups.
👍👌🥰
look like a sanke plant
