Sadly most drivers in CT don’t understand what the left lane is for. Also in CT you will find on-ramp merging into the left-most passing lanes which really makes you think wtf.

FWIW, my '17 Audi A4 also allows Waze to run in the background and it's a lifesaver. I much prefer Apple Maps or Google Maps for Nav services via Carplay but the ability for Waze to alert is huge. Good job pointing this out to people who may not be aware of this. Cheers.
Hi! Yes that is a good idea. I got the Turbo and 20” were standard. When I was thinking about 19” a number of people in the Porsche world said that the Turbo with the 19” wheel is not enough tire. The issue is rear tire width circa 40mm narrower at rear on the 19”s so they would not provide enough stick an positive throttle. I was not able to drive a Turbo with the 19”s to test the hypothesis. I think the 20”s are OK on the bad NYC roads but would love to have that extra margin of sidewall the 19”s provide. Has anyone on the thread run a Macan Turbo with 19” with all season or summer tires?
You have to agree Macan is the most sporty 4 seater Porsche especially in that price range. Easily the best driving SUV in the market as well... The high speed stability of Macan is unbelievable... For me with 2 kids having Macan is closest I can get to a sports car feel on road trips...
I've had my silver 2019 Macan S (my first ever Porsche) since May and driven 7,000 miles (11,000 kms), and love every minute that I'm sitting in it. Great car ! It's a sporty, luxury SUV.

FYI I have a 2018 macan gts. With carplay enabled and waze open in the background, it still has notifications of police/road hazards. For instance if you're on the spotify screen or google maps screen, waze notifications still play in the back
My 2017 macan S DOES run waze in the background while listening to Spotify. I pick a destination, then hit stop then go to my music and it alerts me of police, etc. It's so nice. My apple car play totally lets me go in and out it works fantastic. Just have to be plugged in to work but that's ok.

I just bought a 2019 Panamera 4E hybrid. Here's what I propose - a first among Porsche owners globally - why dont you fly over to Norway (Stavanger) next summer and we can drive around in my Porsche while sometime later I can visit you and you can show me around where you live in your Porsche. Each pays for flights and the host, well hosts with food and accommodation for a few reasonable amount of time. Each gets to discover and explore a new country, another Porsche and meet another Porsche owner. And then another. And then another. A truly first global Porsche owner's club.
2:13 for many cars today, the colour pallette is limited to black, white, silver, some type of grey metallic, and one shade of blue. It's depressing. In the 1980s you could buy an Oldsmobile in a myriad of colours many having 2 or 3 shade variants, with pinstripe, two tone paint, and Landau roof options. It was fantastic.

I prefer the old model rear lights to the silly new rear light bar. To any Porsche fan who hasn’t tried a Macan you need to give it a go. So luxurious and comfortable

Color can certainly impact the Macan. My wife’s 2017 S is in “Mahogany”. Much less pedestrian than many of the other more standard color options. As always thanks for another enjoyable vlog episode. 👍🏻
Nick - in regards your comment that the previous version of the PCM did not allow apps like Waze to run I’m the background, is this not an evolution of CarPlay itself and also allowing Waze to be part of the apps? In minute 12:48 do we see your home address :-0? The little arrow to the right of the CarPlay screen is to indicate there is a second page of apps and not expand, me thinks.
As an Audi Q5 owner in which the Macan is based on. I know what you mean. It is an SUV that works best when driven in a relaxed manner and pushed at 30-50%. Once you get it above that level, You'll quickly start to think about a sporty sedan like a BMW 3 series or Porsche sports car. I am not sure a Macan S will be able to fix your cravings for a sports car though. You may end up getting a real sports car in the end.

Many people like to show off them getting a new car from the dealer. On the other side though if they screw up it could be a problem. Given you have found a reliable Porsche that you like that is in a popular colour which is good for resale and your only issue is the colour would it not make sense to just get a wrap? You could even have it pink if you want!
You should have gotton the Turbo. The additional power is transformational. Still too heavy too high to feel a sportscar in corners. More like a GOOD sports sedan. Gives some 911 feel via the staggered wheels and incredible rear wheel stickiness.
Thanks for clearing up sport mode. I thought it lowered the Macan, ejected the rear seats, changed glass roof to cloth, and moved the engine just behind the driver. Or is that only in the GTS.
Interesting the assignable steering wheel button (diamond button) will not advance the track when using the Apple Car Play music app in your 2019 Macan. The button in my 2018 Macan works perfectly with Apple Car Play. I noticed the difference when I had a 2019 loaner from the dealer. The assignable button also works fine with Apple Car Play music in my 2019 911. Guess it was a PCM change, or omission, by Porsche. (Incidentally my 2018 Macan did not come with the Apple Car Play option but I was able to retrofit it to my car with a software upgrade.)
Good to see you back in the saddle Nick! In 2017 I tested the PP vs the Base Macan and actually found the Base to be the most relaxing in town. The PP was just too high strung. This year I tested the new 2019 Base and found it a bit wheezy on the country roads, but it might have something to do with coming from a Panamera ST Turbo.. But why a Macan? Aren’t you a single dude now in need of something more potent like a 911 or Cayman?
How are you liking it so far? I've been driving the base model Macan and it feels pretty solid for a 2.0. Specially when you put it in sport mode and use the paddle shifters.

Congrats on the next Macan Nick! I happen to like my Cayenne S in Quartzite Grey Metallic but hey to each his own as they say. I think with the limited number of color choices on the new cayenne that seemed to be the best choice other than plain black to me? White cars a are kinda girlie if you ask me but whatever. Also Cayenne is bigger and bright colors like Lava Orange seemed a bit over the top to me anyway! Another terrific video and keep pissing off those GTS guys! Cheers.
Yes the Macan GTS owners are defensive because they’re insecure about the fact they didn’t get the turbo. The GTS is an S with a few insignificant options. Most GTSs are optioned up beyond the base price of a turbo.

Depends where you live and how much snow you get. You definitely want dedicated snows if you live in a place that gets significant snow. The all seasons are meh at best.
Porsche should have cut a deal with Mazda to buy their 2.5 ltr turbo engine. They could have easily tuned it to kick out 300 hp. Mazda conservatively keeps it at 250 hp with premium fuel.

The air suspension makes all the difference for spirited driving. My Macan stays totally flat on twisy roads.

In NYC area stay away from 21” wheels. The 20” even with air suspension can be stiff over small sharp bumps but is generally good with air suspension.

you could have wrapped the car, so you don't take the depreciation hit twice. And green cars depreciates faster than gray cars.

I think with the limited number of color choices on the new cayenne that seemed to be the best choice other than plain black to me? White cars a are kinda girlie if you ask me but whatever. Also Cayenne is bigger and bright colors like Lava Orange seemed a bit over the top to me anyway! Another terrific video and keep pissing off those GTS guys! Cheers.

Yes the Macan GTS owners are defensive because they’re insecure about the fact they didn’t get the turbo. The GTS is an S with a few insignificant options. Most GTSs are optioned up beyond the base price of a turbo.

Hi Nick, quick one for you. With the 21 inch Spyder Rims, did you have to purchase a second set of All Season tires? I might trade my 2018 Macan GTS in for a 2020 Turbo and want the 21 Spyder Rims, however want to retain All Seasons. Any help would be appreciated. Thx

Depends where you live and how much snow you get. You definitely want dedicated snows if you live in a place that gets significant snow. The all seasons are meh at best.

Porsche should have cut a deal with Mazda to buy their 2.5 ltr turbo engine. They could have easily tuned it to kick out 300 hp. Mazda conservatively keeps it at 250 hp with premium fuel.
