No one deserved to be told to off them selves, let alone over a product of entertainment. I don't own SoT, nor played, but have watched summ1t in the past but I guess YT knows best and recommended this video. There's a serious problem in western gaming culture of elitism in online video games. The phrase like "skill issue'" and "git good" can be used as funny joke if done properly. But, it's often used as a dog whistle to call all fellow "epic" Gamers to attack something they don't like. Esp. if they think this thing threatens their elitist status. It's honestly really gross and sad when you think about it and likely a product of our societal values and systems, but that's for a YT video essayist to explore. Anyways, gamers ought to be more welcoming and inclusive into their communities as gaming is a really fun hobby that many of us like sharing and experiencing with others.
I personally think the PVE servers are good for new players to get their way around the game and figure out what they’re doing it also helps with tall tales
Now they just need to make it less restrictive and I’d be willing to play again (and I’d like to specify by less restrictive I mean let us use our captained ships)
Honestly i feel cheated with captained ships. Before i would get in the game with a pristine ship every time. Now i get to pay to have my ship looking like shit every time...
Finally, I can fucking play though the tall tales without getting sunk, haven't be able to do them in years. Been hearing problems about serves maxing out because of a massive influx of solo safers, I hope they see the numbers and expand on safer seas in the future. I would love to see a P+PvE server, were instead of being at each other’s throats you actually work together for once. To have fleets of friends combating against hordes of undead, pretty epic. The irony I find being in a sea full of gold, there are only so many genuine gems. I'll give a cheery "ahoy me hearty!" to passer-by's, most of the time I’ll get shot, but the fewer times I come across actual players that want to play together, that feeling alone is own is like digging for something worth more than gold. where's the comradery? where's the pirate banter? "be more pirate?", load of bullshit. No one talks to anyone like human beings in this game, just screaming racial slurs and cursing their bloodline. People can play the game how they want to sure, but its the fact that everyone had to be lumped into the same pool. Some wanted to float around and simmer, maybe fish for a bit. but that won’t stop someone coming along to ruin their fun, just so the other can have their fun ransacking and pillaging. what did we expect, its a sea of thieves, so of course the scum of the earth plays this game. I say let them eat eachother, grow bitter and burn themselves out, let them have their "fun", I’ll have my own.
@@duncanidaho5834 100% for this type of player I'm glad safer seas was introduced, I hope they expand it too so the "Safe pirates" can all sail together, expand it to more ships per server and less gold or no gold at all would be good
One time I stole a bunch of fish from a guy who was grinding out fishing commendations. It worked out for me because I didn't have to fish for em. Lol. Anyways man, sounds like this game is not for you. There's probably some pirate background noise ASMR you can turn on while you sip your tea.
Thats just dumb. Why not make a separate save file? If you earn gold/commendations/achievements on High Seas, you get them on both safe and high seas. But if you earn them on Safe Seas, you only earn them on Safe Seas. Or just make them separated all together and nothing but ancient tokens and cosmetics bought with ancient tokens carry over. Theres no reason players like this shouldn't feel rewards too, though I agree (as someone who loves High Seas) that people who have worked hard for those cosmetics/commendations on High Seas shouldnt have them invalidated by Safe Seas@@Judged-Dread
P+PvE sounds great honestly, just a gamemode where us casual players can just shitpost about being pirates together and not have to deal with people randomly showing up and destroying your ship when you literally have nothing on board lol. happens to me everytime, my reaction? "I literally have nothing, I'm just chilling while waiting for my homie to get back from work and we go hop on ready or not/mech warrior" I honestly just enjoy seeing people shell my ship while I stand there doing nothing. I have nothing to lose anyway besides being bored cause I can't do my dumb shenanigans of bringing my whole crew on to a skelly ship with explosive barrels and just nuking it for the funny. I seriously don't get why just because someone isn't in the mood for PvP but wants to play SoT is forced into the same pool of people who only wanna blow up every ship they see. maybe have the gold and rep set to 50% value and up the amount of AI ships while reducing loot spawn to 70% of the usual, could also add emissary access to boost that up a bit, ofc it will never be as rewarding as PvP but it does balance it out a bit more. those who wanna PvP can fight each other and those who just had a long day and wanna do some pirate shenanigans together with a few ships for an hour or 2 can do so freely without having to deal with someone who has nothing better to do than destroy whatever ships they run into idk man just seems like both parties get what they want, PvP players get into more fights and P+PvE players can just relax and have some peaceful fun
Alpha and beta players were begging for a PVE option pre-launch, and Rare didn't listen. I'm quite happy about it. It's nice just to enjoy the environment and treasure hunt without being paranoid or griefed.
Totally agree. But seeing how many restrictions there are in the Safer Seas mode, i'm pretty sure that it wasn't Rare's decision to add PvE. Rather a decision from Microsoft. And now they try everything to discourage people from playing it. But jokes on them. I still love it.
Most Alpha & Beta players that I know (including myself) loved PvP because it was the best way to interact with other players since the game is open-mic, especially as after pirate legend there wasn’t much else to do other than have fun hunting people down, we just needed more things to progress to make said PvP worthwhile which was pretty scarce at the time, from my experience the only people who wanted PvE only servers were people who had one bad experience then swore never to engage in/improve in PvP again, a lot of which that stayed with the game eventually ran into enough PvP to improve enough to enjoy PvP anyway, and so no longer even wanting PvE servers👀
@@VaporyBeatSorry but I had ONLY bad experiences with interactions with other people. And pirate legend option wasn't around for a pretty long time. So you are refering to a time where toxicity was already at it's peak and as I said, those streamer behaviors got already wind in their sails. Again. The issue isn't with fair and straight up PvP where you engage others in a battle for benefits. The issue is with people trolling and messing with others who clearly don't want to engage in PvP and intentionally targeting these people to ruin their experience and have some selfish fun. I play a lot of PvP games. And i love them. Because people handle them as a constant PvP game. But these hybrid games never work. Because they try to attract both camps. But fail on both fronts.
Finally a mode to do tall tales and get them done and not worrying about anyone coming after me or just sinking my parked ship at the island I’m on done are the days of spamming to other players I’m doing a tall tale leave me alone
@@robertschaffer596 The problem is also the fact that people will chase you and then will literally spawn kill you on your ship, they won't even try to sink you. Hourglass is really bad for this, not many do it over there, but there are those on HG who get on your ship and keep spawn killing you until you leave the game or scuttle, it definitely makes you want to quit. At that point they're just using you as a punching bag for their own enjoyment instead of having an actual fight with you
Finally someone says it. All the vast majority of SoT players (I'm talking about to peak of the player numbers when the game goes on sell, not the bottom of the barrel sludge that is the "consistent" players with no life outside of the internet numbers when the game is nearly dead) want to do is chill and sail around doing whatever the horizon brings them. Most don't mind fighting just to fight, but what we don't like is being bothered or having to do the same thing over for the hundredth time because of some jack@ssess that don't want to play the game keep piggy backing off of us.
Thank you for saying what needs to be said (and sadly is not allowed on Steam discussions or the official forums) regarding this new mode. The absolute vitriol of pvp sweats (encouraged by community managers, no less) need to be called out, especially when those of us who just want to be enjoy the seas on our own finally get the chance to do so.
Can I share a piece of my mind? I don't like PvP in this game and I am super glad that Safer Seas exist. Look, some people say that it is an extended tutorial, I don't see it that way, thwre are restrictions, sure but the world can be explored, tons of content is available, lots of stuff is possible to do in Safer Seas. It is what it is, a PvE mode with restrictions with the idea of lower risk lower reward. I am fine with the restrictions, I can finally enjoy the game at my own once without depending on the mood of other players. Now what I see about Sea of Thieves while comparing it with other games is thw incosistency of PvP and calling it player interactions. In other games you enter a Single Player mode with story or Multiplayer with matchmaking, you go inside the game wirh the predisposition expecting certain experience, you go intonsingle player story mode you get that PvE experuence, you go into multiplayer you get that PvP experience, so as a player you can go mentally prepared for that. Sea of Thieves is different, it is portrayed as a shared world, but you never know if you are going to meet other players or not, and if you do you never know if they are going to be friendly or engage in combat. While some player claim that it is what makes the game thrilling and fun, I have to say that it is subjective. Fun is subjective, what some people find find thrilling others find stressful, what some find boring other may find relaxing, fun is a very subjective thing and changes to each individual. Personally, that inconsistency of dealing with PvP dueing my quests is what prevented me from enjoying the game, and also is very inconsistent on how I will engage in PvP, and making it even more unpredictable. Having a PvP encounter that will always be different prevents me from creating a strategy or adjusting my playstyle which just ends in my frustration. Sometimes you may even prepare for PvP but you don't even see another ship on the horizon, sometimes you are ready to take on another sloop, but you end up meeting a brig which as you know has much more firepower and enemy players. You see, rhat's what prevented me from enjoying the PvP part of the game. Another thing is that bigger ships are more likely to defeat smaller ships, because of the number of players, each player had the same health pool, speed, number of bullets per weapon, and access to rhe tools, but the thing is that bigger ships have more players doing that, while also having more firepower. So, while it is technically possible that a solo slooper can defeat a galleon, the norm is that there is strenght in numbers and a bigger ship has more chances of being victorious (no wonder no one bothers with the champion battles against bigger ships in hourglass, not even big streamers). Last but not least, Sea of Thieves does a poor job at alleviating a loss, in any other game you lose a match you still get currency or xp or whatever, in Sea of Thieves, you sink you lose everything there is no consolation prize just time lost. It's all risk with some reward. Outside of the tiny portion of XP in hourglass, there is nothing to alleviate a loss while sinking in the game. You sink you lose everything: loot, supplies, emmisaey flag, all the progress you made towards something is reset, which is a thing that really makes me paranoid and makes me avoid playwr encounters even more. Time is a valuable resource in real life, and I value my time. Sometimes I just want ti worl towards something, but I don't want other players resetting my progress towards that because I lose my time, and as I said, it is inconsistent becauae that PvP encounter was not guaranteed either, which makes me even more frustrated. It makes me feel that I lost my progress in the quest because of the mood of other players and circunstances outside of my control. Safer Seas is one of the best addition in my honest opinion, as I can finally enjoy the game at my pace and appreciare the world of Sea of Thieves without constantly veing paraboic and warching the horizon. And as I said earlier, Safer Seas still has a lot of content despite all rhe restrictions, for starters the whole map is available, so I am happy with that. Sometimes I wonder how this game could have been if they made PvE story mode and PvP matches separate from the get go like other games. I guess I'll never know.
Very true. Sweaty pvpers are only upset because now they may have to play against others with skill to fight back. Most of those people liked finding new players and making them miserable. Griefing morons, that's all. Now the a holes have to play with other a holes and others can dip out unless they feel spicy too 😆. It's a win for good pvpers that want a challenging fight and a win for people who may want a more relaxing day on the sea that day. Or to do some story without interruption.
"Sweaty" players are busting each others heads in the hourglass mode, and could care less lol. At least in my experience. The ones you're talking about are the wannabe sweats. The dudes who instantly get humbled against most players who know how to actually defend themselves. Big L for them
Exact reason why I could never really get into the game. All the pvpers that hunt down new players, and just grief them until they leave. It happened to me when I tried to get into the game around a year ago, and just drove me off since I couldn't have fun. So now the pvp tryhards can suffer by facing people that are actually skilled, or other toxic pvp crews.
if you are a pvp focused player you would know that server hopping is all we get to do. it takes hours to even find one ship. when we get to the ship it is 9x out of 10 empty. love that they are removing even more players from the live servers... shitty update.
honestly imo safer seas is a pve player safe haven, no more shall pve players suffer in pvp high seas servers. gg devs for caring for both pve and pvp players, tho pve is a bit late but thanks for helping people who just wanna enjoy the game at their own pace. thanks lots even tho pve is overdue
with 300% less money and rep its worth the risk of higher seas. its a stupid concept made for new players that new players wont use because it doesnt help them at all.
@@markjamison6286 so it's stupid to draw new players (as well as existing ones coming back) to a game that has been out for literal years? Elaborate and explain please HOW this does not help them? Because I believe this the best thing that has happened TO DATE. imagine more people not being turned off from the game because of wet blankets storming thru and acting absolutely toxic calling you every slur under the sun simply because they can. imagine having a place to be able to relax with friends and teach them more about the game eventually being able to feel confident about going to high seas when you finally prepared to set sail with other players rather than thrown to the wolves day 1. The whole reason there is little gold/reward for it is to incentivize players to go into pvp anyway! Im just happy players finally have the choice, which has been my biggest gripe since the beginning.
@@Xeonryu just overall its not made for new players. its made for tall tales and people that want to stream and make fake videos. you know it and i know it.
The PVE is good but most certainly needs work. It's for tall tales, and new players getting the basic ropes alone right now. It's not even worth the effort for selling loot right now, with how little money/rep plus the rep cap and many milestones limited, which feels wrong. It should just be a separate save, where you don't have the commendations/gold you get in safer seas on high seas.
@@markjamison6286 So now you saying that Rare would go out of their way to make a whole new game mode just for people to make content? A bit far fetched.
completely agree with what you said in this video and the last video. Just feel as if it was a little unfair to paint it as that there was not a lot of nasty replies back to the comments which were in support of safer seas
Honestly there's a part of me that also wants to make a video defending Safer Seas (not a plug btw, just a potential idea that might not even happen, but that's okay) as there are a lot of good reasons as to why people would want to play on SS. I sometimes come to the game to relax, I like playing any new Tall Tale that releases and nowadays we get TTs that put you into private sessions like with Monkey Island, and this allows you to go at your own pace and I really like that. With Safer Seas I think the idea is awesome, I think the execution could've been better and needs improvement, but otherwise it's a good starting point. I want custom server settings so I can decide on the limitations/reductions for myself, I'll happily tolerate the gold and rep reduction but if it was up to me I just wouldn't have any reduction. I'd allow anything that's allowed in High Seas, I honestly believe the restrictions aren't necessary. I compare Sea of Thieves to Elite Dangerous a lot, as ED has online and solo play options for their players, but they don't restrict the things the player can do based on which server they decide to choose. People always claim that PVE servers will kill the game and that people will take advantage of said server's existence, but why is that a bad thing? Some people have a hard day at work, and they play a video game as an escape, to take their mind off a potentially rough day. If the player wishes to relax on Sea of Thieves, they're going to take advantage of the lack of other players, and with the amount of toxic players in the community, they're going to benefit more from it. I've always loved High Seas, even in the worse moments, I'm someone who has always wanted these servers and I also think they should've added them sooner. When it comes to Safer Seas, it won't cause the game to die, it won't be inbalanced, as that would require people to stop playing the game, and since there are still people on Twitch who do nothing BUT stream Sea of Thieves, the game isn't going to die, there are also those players that still prefer the challenge of pvp, they're open to engaging in that stuff if it ever occurs, and that's okay too. You don't need restrictions in a game just because you decide you want to play it solo, and I honestly feel like it's really close-minded of others to think that it's a requirement
You just got a sub dude. I immediately hopped on SoT for PS5 knowing I could play with buddies in a relaxed environment. I tried high seas mode for 50 or so hours after feeling comfortable in safer seas mode and... oh boy. Every... Single... Ship that I came across bee lined it for me and sank me simply because they could. How is that piracy when that feels more like straight up petty open world PvP huh? Hell my buddies and I came across quite a few griefers that straight up strung sentences out of cuss words as they sank us. I hope Rare expands on the PvE servers because it does take a while even now to get in a PvE server compared to PvP where it takes just a few seconds. That alone says one clear message, "We do not want our fun interrupted by grifing PvPers". This happened in WoW, the Devs made Warmode to separate PvE and PvP, and the PvPing griefers ripped out their metaphorical hair knowing they'd have to sweat against other PvPers.
I am a high seas player and im going to be honest the limitations need to be removed no need for it high seas is always going to have players same as safer seas and people who quit because of it will just replaced
I agree for the gold and rep limitations, but for fotd an fof those make sense to have in PvP only servers as its part of the point of those 2 forts to have to defend what you took. I'm gonna be a full safer seas player, but for the forts at least I can see why those are limited
just to say i quit because of quick swap and Arena getting removed and because of the bad server performance along with the lacklustre updates, not because the devs broke their promise and added PvE servers *mentally preparing for some rando to say 'cry more' in the reply*
@@RomeEmpire123you mean that same "pirate" game that requires 0 risk or skill from the aggressor? I get spawn camped and sunk, i lose 2+ hours of progression, you lose, you get sent to an island WITH your ship and sent on your merry little way. Stfu.
It's pathetic when people say "skill issue" as if they are any good at the game. The reality is they are as bad at the game as the players they're supposedly crying about when compared to the top players. These people don't seem to understand why most PvP games have (and need) match making. You either play against players much worse or much better than you. Neither of which is very fulfilling, the later less so. But SoT doesn't have MM in high seas (at least not MM that really does anything). The sad truth is these players that say they don't want PvE mode are the same players that just want easy wins. They should be happy about PvE servers if it means they get to play against fewer players that just run and/or aren't very good. They get a more challenging and fulfilling PvP experience, oh wait, they only want to dunk on new or returning players.
Sorry dude it's game with other people and just like in real life there are dicks who scream louder than the people who are actually nice sorry to say a game with other people is a game with other people
For a very small minority of bad actors maybe, but to assume that’s the case for most/every player that enjoys PvP is delusional, I understand that people feel validated in these kinda takes because they’ve encountered a few toxic players they see as doing worse, but that still isn’t any excuse to generalise your dislike to an entire community, have you asked dozens of PvP players why they like PvP?, and why both PvP and PvE pirates alike dislike the idea of PvE servers?, and if not why assume how they see it without actually taking the time to see there point of view, at this rate you’re just as bad as the way you see those toxic few🤔
@@VaporyBeat Wait, so you're upset that I'm generalizing the people who simplify someone's problems and respond with an implication of "get better scrub"? Did you feel personally attacked when I implied everyone who says "skill issue" are morons? Or are you just being contrarian?
@@Zombiesbumyou gotta love these pvp'ers losing their minds over this. They always love to yell "git gud" or "no risk no reward, the same players who 3+v1 or prey on blueberries takes so much skill, they take 0 risk as the aggressor, i get spawn camped and sunk i lose 2+ hrs of progression/loot, they lose they get sent to an island WITH their ship and sent on their merry little way, every pvp mechanic in this game proves that, from the nerfing of movement carrying treasure to spawning mechanics.
Don't listen to those toxics. Completely agree with a need of adding pve-only experience to this game. I am personally coming back to sea of thieves exclusively because Rare finally added pvp-free mode after ignoring community feedback for years.
They just want to beat up on people that don't like pvp. It was literally the bully mentality. Now they have to face other PVP players and they aren't happy about it.
I'm acknowledging safer seas as an extension of the tutorial, and to me that's exactly how it worked, I got a bit better at manuevering my ship and test some ideas of mine... now I just found your channel bro, I have no idea what they did/say to you and I'm not going to touch upon it, the past is the past after all... another thing I've been able to do in peace in safer seas is FINALLY explore the islands so that me and a few friends could play, and yes this is childish as all hell, hide and seek... which is still interupted by ocean crawlers and keg skellies, but it's SAFER seas, not harmless seas... last but not least, safer seas showed me how far I've trully come in the game when it comes to completion, I was so happy to get in there and finish obscure commendations, usually from merchant alliance, only to realize they were completed at some point in the past😅... also, I was a pirate legend before even Arena was a thing, so the one somewhat downside I could see for safer seas was dead on arrival for me, I'm not going to complain about the absense of reapers or emisssaries because I always viewed the progression these gave us as something to be earned instead of outright given to us, though I have been spoiled by the sovereigns a bit and those who have played the game from its early stages knows exactly what I'm talking about
In a way safer seas is necessary, as an intermediate player now, I remember entering this game just to get sunk whenever I even sailed the seas for like 15 mins without gathering a single coin aside from ones I gained from killing a few skeletons. It was fun at first, but after the 5th time I just got too depressed to enter this game again for knowing what to expect. A fun game no less, but no hope of getting anywhere, or getting properly experienced and trained, unless I was willing to spend extra 5 hours just avoiding other ships for fear of no alliance, and that isn't a thing you just come by in this game. There are just dudes that like making other players miserable and I do think if pve never existed some sort of safe haven was supposed to be made in pvp server itself. Although I can understand that rough environment makes a rough player, but nevertheless it's a GAME, it's supposed to be fun, you didn't pay for it just so you can uninstall it due to toxic morons killing you with nothing to gain, it really kills the mood. I am able to carry my own weight now, so I didn't need pve in the end, but who knows. Safer seas at least offers new players to first interact and understand all the jumpscares you will encounter in the future, excluding other notorious crews, get acquainted with the sea itself and control of your ship, even practice your weapon skills by killing mobs, ultimately making you understand the world of Sot and drill some foundational skills.
played the game couple hours last night..pulled into port to sell my loot and 2 players jumped on my ship with TNT barrels, sank my ship, killed me and my friend. I heard it was a Toxic Player game but didn't think it was this bad..I'll be checking out the PVE for sure.
Absolutely 100% agree with you. The only people who are upset by this are the toxic little tryhards who are throwing a temper tantrum because now they realize that they're gonna have to start fighting people who are just as good as them because they can't farm noobs etc. anymore. But I guess that's just a.........what was the term again?..........skill issue?? 🤣🤣🤣
As someone who hasn’t made it to pirate legend I love that they finally added it in now. I can actually play the game and enjoy it. And learn how to get good Because it’s really hard to get good when somebody just keeps on killing you from a distance, you have no clue where they are Or that you’re using tactics that they have over 300 hours of experience over my 10 hours of experience
Amazing how people thought it was absurd that someone would want a single player mode for a game who's 98% PVE content. So many players just love the phenominal, whimiscal pirate fantasy the game gives. PVP being randomly forced on you is gonna be irritating believe it or not.
I’ve always had the problem with sweats, not destroying my ship, sweats following me to an island, waiting for me to dig up the treasure, and then killing me and stealing it Like I understand, that’s what a real pirate would do But come on, you can clearly see that I’m a noob I haven’t even made it to rank 20 and I literally have people who have completed the basically the entire game killing me
Rofl, love the commentary. I just downloaded SOT for the first time completely with the intention of only ever playing single player PvE. I didn't even know about this controversy, but 100% if there was no PvE I wouldn't play it as I thought it was just a single player or maybe co-op game anyway. Hope the game will turn out to be fun, but won't care if it's not as it's a game pass download.
I love to see the tears dropping down the face of those PvP obsessed people who are afraid they will now loose all the easy prey they are trolling and griefing all the time. And i love the new PvE mode too. I made a promise to myself that i will buy the game when it gets PvE mode. And hold myself to that promise. I have already 50h in the game only on Safer Seas and will never touch high seas again.
Those commenters have no self awareness. They literally are the reason there's a PVE mode. They act as toxic in the game as they are on here, which drives sane people away, which hurts numbers, which affects revenue, which requires a mode to draw people back who like the game, but not the toxicity involved in playing it.
As someone who’s been playing on and off since beta It’s about time now I can actually play the game and enjoy it with ouch a bunch of sweaty losers spawn, camping me and forcing me to start a new adventure
shit man, thats good news. i bough the game long ago, and couldnt figure it out, cos sooner or later we would be ambushed, killed, and robbed.. stopped playing altogeter. i may want to check it out again. thanks for sharing
It pissed me off that arena was there and no one used it, it was great fun, nothing to lose and great epic fights Regular was stupid we would get chased non stop, and the crew was terrible at the game so it wasn't fun for me, and I quit because of it. Might look at getting the crew back together for some pve
I'll be honest and say that the hateful comments are from immature childish brats that are such salty tryhards whining that they won't get to pick on newbies or casual gamers anymore whilst in game, and now they have to try even harder to fight other sweats in order to progress the game.
Pvp lobbies are chill af, honestly i find most of the toxicity comes from people who believe the loot on board is theirs simply because they dug it up. Fights are sweet, i suck at pvp get sunk 90% of the time mostly its gg's sometimes rarely i get a toxic lord but thats an extremely rare event.
Last time i checked possession is 9/10s of the law, so it IS theirs, and that being said, youre stealing it, and in pirate golden era, would get you hung, and or other not so nice punishments. Any other dumb remarks from the pvp tear factory??
Kudos for making this video. I always stay away from long term PvPs (e.g. mmos & stuff) coz I have this thing called real life ( that said, I am ok with MOBAs and team vs team kind of games). I often wonder what kind of human breeds are these people who spend half of their life on servers living virtually rather then enjoying the real thing. For me these are like wasted people. PvE allows a good game-work-life balance and you don't need to be super serious like your life depends on it. But on developers part, PvE requires a tons of efforts coz they have to invest in creating content, implementing good AI for NPCs and creatures, invest in voice actors etc. It is almost like making a AAA game. So, a good PvE multiplayer game deserves more respect than a good PvP multiplayer game.
I never followed the news of this game or even paid it any attention because I don't play pvp games. At all ever. But.. now that i've learned about safer seas? My friends and I might pick up a copy. Good to know. RIP to all the people who threatened to quit, but Rare already has your money. lol
Yeah I get it rare had a vision for their game, but over time the toxicity just exploded. At first not every encounter meant PvP. Today though 9.5/10 you’re going to have someone litterally go out of their way to turbogrief and pop a cap in your ass while you’re just trying to take a screenshot of something pretty. Arena, when it came solidified the fact we can’t have nice things. Here it is a PvP mode, where the only thing you do is kill and sink each other to high hell. Well according to some players it was fun for a bit, but it became apparent that due to several issues and a lack of skilled matchmaking it was doomed. I’m happy rare have decided to change their vision. Safer Seas brings a more calmer and relaxed experience. Eve (another pvpve game) even has safety mechanics in play for most zones to prevent the obvious Griefing. The fact being they were absolutely stupid enough to allow it to go on for so long, in my opinion , honestly has destroyed the games reputation. Considering rare caved finally, shows it as well. They even removed forum posts because the toxic players flooded it with just about everything you said. On one last topic, the toxic streamers don’t help either. You see pace22, that guy honestly should have have his creator license revoked. I watch one of his streams, not only did he participate in horribly toxic behavior (like spawn camping, verbal insults). He basically tells everyone that doesn’t agree with him to go on safer seas. Other streamers (not all) tend to follow suit, and of course players who like him act like it. I know it’s a wall of text, but considering the sot community drowns out voices like mine when it comes to this topic. I agree with you, and December was the first time in two years I actually had fun.
Thier not really pve servers more like a slightly expanded tutorial from maiden voyage because it’s not the full game experience in a pve setting I tried both and safe seas is frustrating without the high seas features
I am new to the game so I’m not sure if safer seas is why I can’t find anyone in open seas, but the game feels really bad and dead. There’s no any emissaries selected even when server hopping, no reapers on the seas either. Even though I’m a noob I’m interested in PvP and encountering players, but it seems gone. Also, I think backstabbing and tricking people is toxic, but it’s also part of the fun. I know it’s not for everyone, but it’s nearly impossible to enjoy that part of pirating splitting the servers. I know that it’s unfair to force others into PvP and enjoying the content above makes me “Toxic AF” to some people, but this is a game about pirating, it’s kind of the point. I think safer seas needs a nerf, like 50% less gold earned that will drive people to high risk high reward scenarios.(comments stated this is there)
Already get 70% less gold than playing in high seas mode, along with several of the reputations being locked, and having a reputation cap of 40. So safer seas doesn't need a nerf, since it already takes quite a bit longer to earn gold, and having a lot of the higher payout stuff locked, like fort of the damned.
@@epicheadshot6958 Good to know, haven’t looked into it much but I never noticed the statement about gold nerf. Maybe it needs a slight buff in that case lol.
Liking PvP content doesn't make you toxic and I can 100% agree that betrayal and all the drama and everything is fun af, however when people are just toxic to be toxic and just brush it off with "oh well this is how the game works" that's when there's an issue. I grew up loving pirates and my mind never went to the "sinking every ship you see" mindset that a lot of players in this game seem to have. My mind went to "exploring the ocean, burying treasure, sea shanties, pirate code" so safer seas for me is a godsend, I love doing all the stuff that I find fun just like how people who like PvP do it because they find it fun. And for there being no players on at the moment, it's kind of a mix between everyone trying out the new safer seas content and people just straight up being busy cuz of the holidays. After the hype dies down a bit and people have more time to play again, we'll be right back to having packed, laggy servers again 😂
People aren't just upset that there's less swabbies to roll over. You are legitimately getting a SEVERLY degraded experience by only playing safer seas and most people that throw up an eyebrow at safer seas are the ones who see that. The PvE in SoT is legitimately not good, it can be fun for a while, but what makes those 300 barnacle chests worth going after is the fights you're getting into to take em home. Personally I'm for safer seas, glad its opening the game up to people that aren't able to hold it down in the shared world, and don't want it to go anywhere. That said, its potentially very damaging for players who do someday want to transition into high seas, lots of bad habits to unlearn, and more than half of the games mechanics/content being absent in Safer Seas. Bottom line, there's more than one reason people are against Safer Seas, trying to lump everyone who disagrees into one category and call them toxic for wanting PvP is petty and uninformed. Not to say you deserved hate for wanting what you wanted, just know there's a number of reasons people are so passionate as to write paragraphs why they disagree lol
I completely agree with you that there's a lot of hate being thrown around and a lot of generalization, I saw a comment from a kid apologizing for liking PvP cuz he said "it makes him toxic" which sucks to see. The only thing I disagree with is that the PvE is boring, sure it can get stale at times, but also you have the kinds of people who pour thousands of hours into games like American truck simulator and that's just driving from point a to point b. For the players it will get stale for, they'd eventually try out high seas and for the players that won't get bored, it's perfect (myself included lol) I do wish there weren't so harsh of limits on safer seas gold and rep wise, but keeping FotD and FoF unavailable is a good decision imo
@@Telesto_Timelost I was talking about the SoT PvE though, people like what they like. Just cuz it's boring to you doesn't mean it's boring to everyone, like I said with the American truck simulator thing, to each their own 👌
How people think Sea of Thieves, Naval Action, Pirates of the Burning Sea, and a host of others are better than Skull and Bones is beyond me. SoT is literally the definition of boring and copied the Pirates of the Caribbean online crew system.
Finally as a PVP player I will be safe in high seas from pve players calling me toxic racist names after I sink thier alliance and steal thier loot :) Im happy they have safe seas so people can no longer complain about getting sunk on a multi plaer based server. Good luck out there
This win isn't the win you think it is. The community isn't split down the middle between PVE and PVP and all the people who are in the middle of this are losing some of the best aspects of the game. Servers are already different because of it. They're either empty or full of assholes so regardless of how you feel about safe for seas, it has changed the game for everybody already whether they like it or not
I've not been a part of sea of thieves for awhile but I disagree with the stance "this won't affect you" because making a pve mode means they work on pve content and it kinda takes away from what the core identity of the game was/is and splits the player base more than it already was. The game was designed to be simplistic pve and offset with the threat of pvp. I'm not saying you aren't entitled to have your pve experience but honestly I just found the concept of making it pve kinda lame. The game was meant to be pvp that's the whole gimmick, like no offense but why not just play another game at that point? The pve in SOT is pretty underwhelming and mostly used as a roadblock/time waster to give you chances to be countered and interrupted during events. That rush of loot and fighting and escape and danger is kinda the point? I do wish the pvp systems were less toxic and double gunning has always been a sweaty issue but to remove that element entirely takes away too much for me.
Well yeah sure, but how long can you play pve in sea of thieves before it's just boring? There's a million other better sandbox games but the danger is what makes games like SoT, Rust and the others exciting and fun. It's kinda the whole core of the concept is the risk of pvp? If the pvp isn't fun then the game has just kinda failed and they should have made something else entirely imo. There are other kinds of games for people who aren't into pvp that already exist and rare themselves have a history of great games. I just think it's weird to gut and change the experience for those who enjoy the game for what it is to pander to people that will likely drop the game in less than a year. I don't blame anyone for dropping it of course but truthfully the pve in sots just isn't engaging or fun enough to do more than once for 99% of people. @@folver91
oh look pve yes another way of making the game more dead when it's literally called SEA OF THIEVES yet here we got a bunch of snowflakes who complain about getting shot and complain to rare "oh someone shot me can you please add singleplayer" OH BOO HOO SO WHAT it's called learning to play the bloody game
😂😂 game names are arbitrary, its called sea of thieves not see of cheaters/sweats/tryhards/toxics, yet you all play it, see what i did there? I can also dig up treasure, hunt animals, fish....see what i did there too? Are you understanding that you just made the most nonsensical and lazy argument yet? I dont think anyone has a problem being "shot" what they have a problem with is the fact you numbnuts use 0 skill when vanging on someone in a 3v1, take 0 risk when attacking someone, and yall have made your entire game and progression out doing just that. So time to "git gud" against ypur fellow asshat pvp'ers and griefers.
🤣 all I hear is “🤓 don’t be mad that we won.” Lmao. The term “Git Gud” exists for a reason bud. Glad to know the shitters are gone off the servers now. Maybe finally it’ll be a challenge for once.
Until you realize you're on the bottom of that totem poll..oh wait, then youll just have to find a brig that only has 2 players so your 4 man galleon can spawn camp them too.
Safer seas is fine but get ready to hit the level 40 cap and get fucking wrecked with 0 understanding how to pvp. It will be funny once new players hit the real seas and get completely stomped and quit when they realize they are actually garbage and have been handheld to 40.
How do we get good? Sink a lot.... I haven't seen any of your video's ever, but man, you've won nothing.
Sounds like a skill issue
I say let them eat eachother, grow bitter and burn themselves out, let them have their "fun", I’ll have my own.
weird you're the one who sounds bitter
I seriously don't get why just because someone isn't in the mood for PvP but wants to play SoT is forced into the same pool of people who only wanna blow up every ship they see. maybe have the gold and rep set to 50% value and up the amount of AI ships while reducing loot spawn to 70% of the usual, could also add emissary access to boost that up a bit, ofc it will never be as rewarding as PvP but it does balance it out a bit more. those who wanna PvP can fight each other and those who just had a long day and wanna do some pirate shenanigans together with a few ships for an hour or 2 can do so freely without having to deal with someone who has nothing better to do than destroy whatever ships they run into
idk man just seems like both parties get what they want, PvP players get into more fights and P+PvE players can just relax and have some peaceful fun
You nailed it. Not everyone wants to spend 4 hours babysitting other people's shitty kids.
I guess I'll never know.
cant wait for the tears to start coming in
PvP players are just whimpering because they have less easy targets these days. There will be even less as time goes by.
At least in my experience really sweaty people don't care who they kill you just happen to be the unlucky one sorry
if you are a pvp focused player you would know that server hopping is all we get to do. it takes hours to even find one ship. when we get to the ship it is 9x out of 10 empty. love that they are removing even more players from the live servers... shitty update.

with 300% less money and rep its worth the risk of higher seas. its a stupid concept made for new players that new players wont use because it doesnt help them at all.

1:05 Go on, leave like ya said ya would. Maybe the High Seas will be less toxic without ye.
The developers for never have pve server but they have changed their minds.
At least let us have our captaincy vessels.

People telling people to sewer slide themselves over funny pirate game is wild. Ppl take this way to seriously
Git Gud remember 😂😂
As someone who hasn’t made it to pirate legend
I love that they finally added it in now. I can actually play the game and enjoy it.
And learn how to get good
Because it’s really hard to get good when somebody just keeps on killing you from a distance, you have no clue where they are
Or that you’re using tactics that they have over 300 hours of experience over my 10 hours of experience
Aight you got me with this one subbed been looking for ward to the new game type
Amazing how people thought it was absurd that someone would want a single player mode for a game who's 98% PVE content. So many players just love the phenominal, whimiscal pirate fantasy the game gives. PVP being randomly forced on you is gonna be irritating believe it or not.
Cool pve sounds nice, would like to try it when I get it some day
I’ve always had the problem with sweats, not destroying my ship, sweats following me to an island, waiting for me to dig up the treasure, and then killing me and stealing it
Like I understand, that’s what a real pirate would do
But come on, you can clearly see that I’m a noob
I haven’t even made it to rank 20 and I literally have people who have completed the basically the entire game killing me
Rofl, love the commentary.
Hahaha it's cool now they can lose to other sweats and learn their real skill
Instead of beating up on people that couldn't care less about pvp
Thats always been the pvp "MO" in this game though, they always punch down. Now theyre mad bc they wont be able to anymore.
Nicely put together video. All credit to you sir 🎩
As someone who’s been playing on and off since beta
It’s about time now I can actually play the game and enjoy it with ouch a bunch of sweaty losers spawn, camping me and forcing me to start a new adventure
shit man, thats good news. i bough the game long ago, and couldnt figure it out, cos sooner or later we would be ambushed, killed, and robbed.. stopped playing altogeter. i may want to check it out again. thanks for sharing
i stopped playing due to the toxicity. griefers all the time even in my crew. was so happy to see they made a single player mode. ignore the hate.
It pissed me off that arena was there and no one used it, it was great fun, nothing to lose and great epic fights
Regular was stupid we would get chased non stop, and the crew was terrible at the game so it wasn't fun for me, and I quit because of it.
Finally someone who gets it.
RIP to all the people who threatened to quit, but Rare already has your money. lol
Now that they’ve added a PVE mode, I might actually buy sea of thieves instead of playing it through gamepass
Awesome! I'm so glad. Griefers ruined the game for me. Now I might go back and play.
Now dmz needs this
Right on, man 💖
wow he has a point
Thank you for this amazing video.
Thier not really pve servers more like a slightly expanded tutorial from maiden voyage because it’s not the full game experience in a pve setting I tried both and safe seas is frustrating without the high seas features
Sweaty no lives not getting what they want that’s crazy it’s almost like they are mad because they can’t prey on noobs and ruin there experiences
ugh. I thought this was going to be a video about PVE Mode.

PvP player tears like these bring me great joy.
best moment I had in the game came from interacting with other people , fearing they pirate me
I am new to the game so I’m not sure if safer seas is why I can’t find anyone in open seas, but the game feels really bad and dead.
After the hype dies down a bit and people have more time to play again, we'll be right back to having packed, laggy servers again 😂
you couldnt find anyone in high seas forever.
Common AxisKronos W
I completely agree with you that there's a lot of hate being thrown around and a lot of generalization, I saw a comment from a kid apologizing for liking PvP cuz he said "it makes him toxic" which sucks to see.
The only thing I disagree with is that the PvE is boring, sure it can get stale at times, but also you have the kinds of people who pour thousands of hours into games like American truck simulator and that's just driving from point a to point b. For the players it will get stale for, they'd eventually try out high seas and for the players that won't get bored, it's perfect (myself included lol)
I do wish there weren't so harsh of limits on safer seas gold and rep wise, but keeping FotD and FoF unavailable is a good decision imo
@@ArenSpace he didn’t say pve is boring. He said sot pve is boring which I completely agree on
@@Telesto_Timelost I was talking about the SoT PvE though, people like what they like. Just cuz it's boring to you doesn't mean it's boring to everyone, like I said with the American truck simulator thing, to each their own 👌
@@ArenSpace i can understand that and respect that but come on. it has no depth or difficulty compared to almost every other PvE game
most PvE people are more toxic than PvP when they get their pixels stolen in a pirate game
I've received so many angry comments from pve players
@@mountainrogue3448When you provoke them and then act surprised when they do it? Go fuck yourself
How people think Sea of Thieves, Naval Action, Pirates of the Burning Sea, and a host of others are better than Skull and Bones is beyond me. SoT is literally the definition of boring and copied the Pirates of the Caribbean online crew system.
Finally as a PVP player I will be safe in high seas from pve players calling me toxic racist names after I sink thier alliance and steal thier loot :)
Im happy they have safe seas so people can no longer complain about getting sunk on a multi plaer based server.
Good luck out there

This win isn't the win you think it is.
The community isn't split down the middle between PVE and PVP and all the people who are in the middle of this are losing some of the best aspects of the game. Servers are already different because of it. They're either empty or full of assholes so regardless of how you feel about safe for seas, it has changed the game for everybody already whether they like it or not
so why are we toxic for PvPing in a PvP game
Erm because it's not a pvp game it's a sailing simulator 🤓
yeah i know, you can even sail directly into the wind! (very realistic)
Tell me you didn't pay attention to the massive montage of toxic comments without telling me.
For you. For me it's exactly what I wanted
