Yeah, I started sea of thieves in 2020 when the fotd came out, and played regurarly until season 3 came out. Now I enjoy it pretty much after 2-3 weeks, I've managed to get good at pvp.
Sea of thieves is just one of those games where you can create amazing stories. One of my favorites was when we tried taking out skeleton ships for the first time. We were brought to a point where the crew helping us on another boat had their ship sink, so we let them join us. However we ran out of planks so for like a solid 10 minutes we had to be constantly emptying water while we sent someone to a nearby island to try and grab planks. In that time, another ship arrived fighting more of the skele ships. After finally getting enough planks, I took the wheel when fucking Mach 10 and smashed into the final skeleton ship with fucking cheers from the other boat. It’s literally something that will stick with me.
I have a moment that sticks with me from this game as well. So my cousin and I were trying to get our loot to an island, but then we ran into a Kraken. AND two megalodons. We fought hard, but our ship was sunk. Luckily, we had a rowboat, and we managed to fend them off and get all our shit onto the rowboat and turn it in.
In the arena is where I trained and learned. But it was not but 5 seconds on the clock and we had smashed into the goal ship. We raced up the ladder and scrammed to cash it in! I was one HP and the time was up and we had secured our position as number 1!!! Happy Halloween!!
Important tip everybody should do! In settings (I think under gameplay?) there’s an option to only display h it markers when the server has registered the hit. Helps with hit reg issues a TON. I barely see anybody talking about this so I felt like it should be known. Also great vid btw :) subscribed
There’s tons of options in the settings I feel like should be on by default. Anyone who plays should give them all a thorough look through and turn on what they like
The great thing about SoT is that the gameplay (aside from some annoying but somewhat "minor" bug related issues) is really a skill-based combat system. There's no COD-style weapon builds or tuning with higher DPS, no pay-to-win... The cosmetics are purely cosmetic. Yeah, it's simple gameplay, but that's the beauty of it. It's easy to learn, hard to master. All about creative strategy, effectively using the tools available to you, and just developing your skill with your preferred weapons. Yes, it's something you want to sit down and dedicate some real time for a session. But, that said, it's basically an endless extraction PvPvE game that dynamically becomes a different, memorable adventure story just about every time you play. A session will keep going, and the story doesn't end, until you decide you're done playing for day. There's no other game out there like that.
As someone who’s been playing since launch through all the ups and downs, god I envy the new players. The game isn’t perfect and I have many a problem with it, but new guys have an absolute mountain of good content to look into. Every session they play they must see something new.
Man, these smaller creators NEED more atrention. Your narration, writing, pacing, editing, personality and gameplay all rival top tier creators. All the best big man❤❤❤
the thing that kills the game for most players are griefers or someone who only wants pvp people that wants to chill yeah its a thieves games, thats what make it kills the game cant go out selling 6 box of commodities without getting chased by 2 galleon and yelling my mom names and says N word and other slurs theres a chill game mode but the limitations literally kills it too, some may like it but most will not, so they have to stick with the toxic galleon
Great video! I've recently been playing SoT and having a pretty good time. As an antisocial person, I don't engage with other players, and that has made the game a lot more challenging. Don't know how far ill go with it, but I know I'm not the target demographic for the game. It seems like it's come a very long way and I'm glad people are still coming to it after 6 years.
For me, the biggest problem with SoT is that there is no incentive to do quests: no ship improvement mechanics, no pirate den, no character progression etc.
Rules for sot. Keep an eye out for other ships. It's not your loot until you sell it. Have fun. This here be one of the funnest games you'll ever play, just try not to take it to seriously.
Phenomenal overview. I’ve been playing sea of thieves for the last two years and have racked up over 1500 hours. This game is absolutely incredible and has completely taken it over nearly all of my gaming! I fall in love with this game again every single time I loaded up!
@@bonehaxxWhy not? Everyone thinks its so impossible to sail a Galleon without 3 or more players. Its surely doable solo. Storms and major engagements are a no no though. Thats where the RIP comes from. People that overstepped and lost. Try it.
I got this game today on my very first laptop. I had some mates who wanted to play and we had an absolute blast. We started doing random voyages as a 3 man crew on a galleon 😂 (if you know sea of thieves you know why that doesn’t work). After 2 bounty’s on a skeleton crew we got an ashen ghost fleet and it was an absolutely amazing experience. I’ve never felt so stressed yet so entertained at the same time. This game is definitely worth it ❤
There are eastereggs and references to banjo-kazooie and other rare games in the game though. But can't remember seeing some mentioned pirate with that name in any tall tale.
Why haven't they added voyages to Hunter's call? They can easily just add hunting the different types of Megaladons and Kraken in different parts of the map and bring a trophy back to get a reward.
Dont suppose we can mass turn in fish yet either huh? Need to be able to just turn in a crate of fish instead of grabbing 5 at a time. Fish for 3 hours and turn in 5 at a time. Ill do it, but im not happy about it.

Been my fave game since launch. Now we have the PS pirates as well its just got alot better. I truly love this game and excited to see where we go from here ❤
Ive been playing since day one and First year pirate legend. I wish i could play it for the first time again in 2024. The new player experience must be amazing.
Friends and I just started yesterday and it's almost overwhelming with the amount of stuff in the game. Very very fun though. Ran a Galleon and won a fight against an enemy Galleon, took their loot, and now we're all addicted.
800+h Piratelegend here, beware this review is from a pvp-focused mind. As a PvE Master i would say there are 2 Camps in this game and it is basicly a predator-prey system. I met a shit ton of pirates who do not attack on sight, can be talked/engaged with, respect a parlé and can be quite friendly and helping eachother out so both crews have a better, more satisfying time spend on the seas. Also pvp-focused players tend to forget the riches that are commendation who encourage grinding events and different non-pvp gameplay elements to go for nice unlockables for ship and player cosmetics. Also just the other day i outsmartet some annoying reapers by just traveling to the shores of gold (which is not accessible without a certain late-game tall-tale active) just to protect my loot from them. So what i try to say is the game is basicly 30% pvp mechanics and 70% pve mechanics so focusing solely on pvp is in my honest opionion just scratching the suface of a briliant game. I can say the flood of ps5 players sadly brought in a lot of shooter-players which tend to prefer the reaper experience instead of the advanturer experience and therefor annoy us solo-sloopers and pve-lords but as harmony seeking pirates we endure those floods until the next big shooter game drops on all platforms and those people leave behind more room for us adventurers. But kudos to rare because they tend to have a good hand in bringing new features to the sandbox to balance the 2 camps so the servers never get too dangerous for pve-players or to boring due to few "prey" available for pvp players. As of season 12 and upcoming season 13, i would say the seas tend to become sligtly more dangerous for adventurers when it comes to features but we will see how these seasons influence the camps.
900 hours of no PVP. My best stories is the PVE shenanigans, like, making the crew fill a rowboat, turn around an island or rock and stealth drop the friend and tell him the direction to go to, updating him as he tells which island he ended up at. Then he starts selling and we are still "running" because the more we do the more we win. Then after everything is sold and you tell the crew boarding "the boat is empty, you lost" "I killed you I win" Because Russians make the game just more like that.
If they were to fix hit reg. And they NEED to sync the camera with the ship movement better. I spent a good portion of my childhood on various boats, and SoT is NOT like being on a ship. Its weird and i dont know how to describe why its so disorienting compared to a real ship, but yeah. (I feel like I'm the only one who cares about that part) But if they did all that, it'd be the single best sandbox of all time
Game is amazingly improved in so many ways and yet i STILL CANT USE THE BATHROOM WITHOUT BEING KICKED. Just lost the past hour of gameplay because i had to use the bathroom. Thats ridiculously wack.
Buy it. I play solo on PS5 and switch between Safer Seas and High Seas. That way I can play stress free or constantly looking over my shoulder depending on my mood. The experience of sailing the seas as well as the beautiful views is amazing.
Fun fact! If you wait around for another crew to do all the work and finish a fort, then you come in and kill them and take the loot, especially if they're a solo player, you are a bad person! :)
I wish they had a borderlands type loot system with randomized guns with stats and abilities. The limited amount of weapons and actual perks in the game makes me feel like there's nothing to work towards other than skins
The problem is they are using cheaper servers these days and you can tell that almost instantly, the hit reg and stutter is worse than ever and the game is rife with hackers. Would not recommend this at all atm...
Bought the game yesterday after not playing in maybe a couple years (not paying for gamepass), does feel a tag laggy. Im on an X1S still though. Wireless connection. Also noticed the lighting is different.
But, compared to 3 to 5 years ago, this game is so much more polished than it used to be. Its actually a full game finally. First 2 years, game was not complete thats for sure
Good video. For all the “good” that Rare have done over the last 5 years, they have still mysteriously ignored “sailing”. The sail/wind physics are ridiculously inaccurate to a point of childish stupidity. There is no drift/tides.l which would make using your own anchor “a thing”. There aren’t anchor chains, or even anchors. Nor does the anchor drop/raise time (distance to sea floor) make any sense? And why aren’t ladders retractable? For a game that is “ship focused”, the actual ship stuff is still crap. But for some reason Rare had time to bring us Johnny Depp? Rare have a priority problem.
This is wrong for so many reasons. First, more accurate wind/sail physics would make the game harder to play, discouraging new players. Plus, the game already has other complex systems like cannons and being a helm, so adding more wouldn’t help. Adding tides could lower load times, and more accurate anchors would just make the game slow and unfun. And if ladders were retractable, boarding would be pretty much impossible. Rare does have good priorities. They are making the game fun. I would take Davy Jones over features that make the game worse any day.
All of these would make the game worse. It’s literally a cartoon game, realism is not on their agenda. An anchor would be difficult and redundant to animate, and out of all of those additions, retractable ladders might be the worst. Good luck boarding an enemy ship now. Also, mate, your overuse of quotations makes your writing feel pompous and smug, just saying.
All these wouldn’t make the game “worse”. They would make the game “different”. Yes, you would have to evolve, adjust and learn. Sorry if challenges in a game are big of an ask for you.
@@Emankind Different isn’t always better. Sea of thieves is a cartoony pirate game, with mythical creatures and unrealistic mechanics. But these make the game fun. If you want a realistic game, you won’t find it here. And again, those features would make the game worse, and seeing how Rare is planning on adding a new flameheart ship, more weapons, and lots more, the game is going in a fun direction. Realism isn’t always the most fun
@@icexinfinity0 “Different” is not always better. But it can be. It’s certainly refreshing! Who would’ve want an anchor & chain in a Pirate Ship game? Something else to climb up when boarding. Except, without drift, you don’t really ever use (your own) anchor, do you? So add drift! Why not make ladders retractable? A gun shot or a cannonball to knock them back down. With the new harpoon mechanics we have yet another way to board. Why not make the ladders more challenging? And it’s one more mechanic to make ship management a challenge. And the wind, well, is just silly wrong. I know that change is scary for those rusted in place. Embrace the adventure. And in the worst case, if people don’t like it, Rare can change it back. Like Arena.
If you are thinking of playing this game solo just pass it up and move on to something else. With the influx of the console players recently it's just a bunch of Fortnite players ganging up and going around picking off solo players. They got bored of hopping around in FPS games like Yoda on crack and now have infected Sea of Thieves like a virus. Been playing since launch but after 12 seasons I'm done. And it's not a matter of skill. Sure, I can fend them off but do I want to log into a game where I have to spend 90% of my play time trying to get out of 3 or 4 v1's? I've played a TON of MMOs and other types of games and it's always the same eventually. A toxic community kills it. Just like when the griefers whined about losing the PVP Sea Dogs area but they are the ones who killed it with toxicity.
Have you jumped back into Sea of Thieves recently?

“Different” is not always better.
Hey I got a shoutout :D
