- TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) held the world premiere of the all-new GR Corolla in Long Beach, California, USA, on March 31 (local time), on the eve of the opening round of the Formula Drift season. The GR Corolla is scheduled for launch in Japan in the second half of 2022.

That might be premature, let's see what they cost first, and not just MSRP, what they really end up costing. If they make enough and you can get one for well under $40K then great, but if they are going to be hard to get and absurdly expensive (like the Type R) then they can keep it.

@@zeincexxx1285 Really? The 2021 Type R MSRP was $38K and you could not find a dealer that would sell it for less than $50K. What does that car have that this one doesn't? With the front, rear and center diffs one could argue this is the better car. So unless Toyota makes a huge number of them to meet all demand, or forces dealers to sell for MSRP (which they do not do). This car could easily end up costing $50K-$60K. Especially with all the wankers frothing at the mouth talking about it being some precious collector car that will go up in value.
The type R is a really nice car for what it is, but at $45-$50K it is absurd. Personally i think anyone that paid a penny over MSRP for one is a complete moron, but if they can turn around and sell it to some other moron for the same or even more...
This is the world we live in, the entire appeal of cars like this was that they were compromised but affordable performance cars for the average buyer. Unfortunately that is not what happens and it is sickening.
For $50K there are far better options but folks get into such a frenzy they lose sight of that fact and grossly over pay for a hopped up econo car.
I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it, we will see.
@@ericmichel3857 thing is, this is no hoped up econo car not in the slightest bit. the only thing corrolla about it is the name it shares virtually nothing with the regular corolla's drivetrain, suspension components and geometry, engine, transmission, body panels, like literally almost nothing. look at the yaris, the only thing the gr yaris and the regular yaris share are the side view mirrors and the front and rear housings for the lights and thats it, and this is a direct carry over from the yaris.... it aint no hopped up econo car
@@ericmichel3857 Dang, as much I hate to admit it, this is true. The reason why cars like the MK4 Supra is stupid expensive these days is because of the crazy amounts of hype surrounding it. The Supra is one of my dream cars, but because of the overrated hype, I will never be able to own one. It's mainly in the Japanese market where it gets this bad.

Stickiest tires + 50/50 AWD power distribution + perfectly tuned suspension + low center of gravity+perfect weight distribution means its corner machine, Try floor it a 300+hp FWD car in middle-exit of corner and it will send you off...
Floor this one in every phase of cornering and it will devour the corner like its nothing!

I must admit this is the first time in my life I got turned on by a Toyota. I'm a big hatchback fan and I always looked up to the Mercedes A45s AMG for its sheer looks, let alone its power. I think this is the new Queen for me now.

The circuit pack looks phenomenal. I'm just disappointed that they are only making it for one year. If there aren't a lot of them being made, you know the dealer markups are going to be obscene.
There will be other trim levels of the same caliber to come with the different years don’t worry Toyota has done this before
No car company can afford to build a new car for only one year and still price it affordably for the public. They will sell it for a while or they wouldn't have introduced it to the US market at all.

lmao circuit pack? Won't be surprised if that becomes the standard like Hyundai's Performance Pack. We americans don't settle for less, we settle for the best. Still betting the Corolla GR won't be able to touch the Hyundai N models even with AWD.
