03:33 Here's a fun tidbit. Chris mentions the EVO that Tommi Mäkinen "dominated the sport in". Same Tommi Mäkinen was the chief of the Toyota rally team during 2017 to 2020 before moving on to being a motorsports advisor for Toyota. He led the Toyota rally team to victory in 2018. He actively participated in developing the Yaris GR. I feel like that cements its place in that line up even more.

@@alicunte5624 Wrong. Well. Not entirely. He is a showpony, a good driver, but real-world good. Not on Chris‘ level. But he is the biggest name in motoring journalism because of his quality of pulling people in and making you feel this character every car has.
Chris can do that as well, it just so happens he has the driving skill to back it up even more.

The grip is unbelievable. I never get bored it’s bonkers. 0% and 10 year warranty lol. I’ve now done 16000 miles had the major service it’s still bonkers, now done 31000 miles still brilliant

I’ve now done 24,000 miles, needs another service and safety check, it’s certainly got much quicker and smoother, I only use super E5, E10 fuel is awful. highest average fuel economy has been 54mpg on the M25 Surrey to Kent with 50mph limits in places, my average overall for the year is 39 mpg, I’ve had it nearly 2 years and still love driving it. It’s a very fast road car simply because of the grip and weight, other hugely powerful cars always back off at any bend or roundabout but this car attacks. I’ve just driven my sons brand new 70k vorsprung RS3 which is rapid and is so much more luxurious but it doesn’t have the driving experience of a homolgation GR especially the steering suspension and road feel and he agrees, the RS3 is lovely, numb but with a great engine. GR has not had one single issue totally reliable, How the hell do you replace a GR for the money?

@@markos8400 Yeah, granted Toyota must have been wanted to take the 3cyl engine to competition as well (at WRC2/WRC3 at least), so it's definitely gonna have to be more durable to take all those abuse. There's even an AP4 GR Yaris at Australia made by Neil Bates Motorsport and they're keeping the 3cyl engine. (AP4 is equivalent to R5 Rally cars).
If we're talking about tuning then i remember HKS & G-Force also tune their car to reach around 360-400hp and it made the car lapping faster than a Nismo GTR around Tsukuba, all of it with stock internals. HKS did say they wanted to see how far the 3cyl can go before it pop or needing stronger internals.
