I agree that the joycons are small, but what I love about them is they are split when removed from the switch and you can keep them like that, so it doesn't force me to keep my hands together while playing, which sounds like a miniscule thing but when I'm lying in bed playing a chill game like animal crossing or mario its just real nice to rest my hands wherever is comfortable and still have full control over the game, this isn't a thing with any other console I'm aware of
I like how the A button on the GC controller, clearly the central button is so in your face and then it's use in the GCs biggest launch title is making Luigi yell Mario
I love constantly seeing this in my feed. Like, I could probably recite the script from memory, but I still can't fall asleep without the sweet sound of bitching about number pads
Playstation: If it ain't broke, don’t fix it Xbox: Change is good Nintendo: *Hits blunt* want if the controller had three prongs. What if it a *cough* bar of soap What if it has a screen. Sega: I'll do anything Atari: I thought this was a phone
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the start/select buttons on the Xbox One controller are supposed to be: The three lines = the depiction of a pause menu, just incredibly simplified The two boxes = most games when you pressed select brought up an in game menu, where you look at your weapons, skills, etc. I’m pretty sure the the box behind the second box is the game, and the box in front of it is the menu brought up from pressing select Or maybe they’re just dumb symbols
Three lines are called the hamburger button they have been around since the 1980s but recently got popular to mean "menu" which is close to what it meant when it was created. It has become a pretty standard now a days. The two overlapping boxes is called the "View" button and it appears to be made up by microsoft. Probably got it from windows. So developers use the view button as a sort of information window. This could be an inventory or some kind of map. I don't know exactly how that button is used as I don't even own a console I am a PC gamer.
Xbox described their version of start and select to be menu and view. In the olden games, you selected the mode with select, and then pressed start to being the game This was a stupid design because you had a D-pad and an A-button, but whatever. Xbox reasoning why the "start" name made no sense is because in modern times, you use A to start something. The title screen says press A, for example. The start button was therefore used to pause the game, the opposite of starting. So the new button is menu, press it to access the menu, it even makes sense on the title screen. Most games will bring up a menu with this button Xbox called their select button "back" on Xbox and Xbox 360, which wasn't a good name. That was associated with the B-button. Press B to go back. The select/back button is used in modern games to less commonly used features; online games might bring up the leaderboard, other games might show a map, change view, reset positon and more. Most commonly it's used to view something or affect the view, hence why the name works. It isn't the perfect name, but it works. - Then you got Forza Horizon 3 that puts the pause menu on the View button, ruining it. The pause menu should go on the menu button.
17:07 : The button was used for mounting (and then could be locked) to console test stands like at Gamestop where they have the Switch on display. This was before they came up with separate controllers for these stands, and as far as I know, it *worked*.
Apparently it was also supposed to be used to attach the Wii remote to the back of the controller, otherwise the Wii remote would hang everywhere. Don’t quote me on that though

@@sekani9761 I just saw that you don't even have to get batteries - you can use the raw Micro-USB cable as a power source and you can safely play. Batteries won't charge, the original Charge Kit has it's own port for the cable to charge it after and when using the controller. So that's actually pretty nice though.

People really relate to their console controllers. It's also a fun way to show the history and evolution of the controller. Who knows, we could still been using joysticks if Nintendo was like "yeah you know that joystick thing everyone uses? lets use one too".
The mystery button that you mentioned on the Classic Controller was actually used for a nyko accessory. It was a grip kit and you were able to attach the wii remote to the back of the controller.
Yeah I think Nintendo had the intention to attach the wii remote to the back to serve two functions: 1. To keep the classic controller more usable since both hands were on it and the Wii remote just hung there which was not the best if you weren't sitting down. 2. It enabled you to use the IR camera to control the Wii without having to pick up the Wii remote and put down the classic controller to make selections or control the curser.
Xbox and Playstation: Go into Photoshop and just do the exact same thing 4 times. Nintendo: *Stretch the controller, put a screen in the middle of it.*
“You can survive a week in the wilderness with this” *10 seconds ago* “If you charge it and then leave it for a week and then pick it back up, chances are it’s gonna be deadzo”
@EPICPRO 23 No they did not. Especially not Zelda as you barely had to move at all. With dancing games it's obvious you shouldn't stand close to it. That would be so even without the Wii involved.
For me the Wii U pad has one flaw: glossy plastic. Other than that, it's the best controller ever. The short battery life is an easy fix with having it be connected to the charger when you play and the screen is good for mini maps as well as when you just wanna play lying in your bed and don't want to put a TV at the foot-end (played a LOT of AC: Black Flag during school lockdown at home like this while listening to classes and chirping in from time to time, such good times). Also, feels so great to hold unless you are a weakling. Anyone else agree?
Having to connect it to a charger the whole time you play isn’t a good solution and doesn’t alleviate the terrible battery life. Also what’s the point of playing on the gamepad if you need to have the WiiU plugged in, turned on and within 10 feet? It’s really not a good controller. Having a minimap on the touch screen isn’t worth the $150 it added to the WiiU price or the fact that it made the console harder to develop for and made the graphics weaker because it had to waste so much power on the gamepad

Honestly the PS4 controller is the most comfortable controller I used. I think it’s because I’ve played it for so long but still I never struggle to use it, it feels perfectly comfortable, I like it’s set up. I think it’s a 10/10 controller
I would have to agree, the only issue I have is how much I have to replace mine. Back when I had a PS4, I would go through controllers like crazy and I took good care of them. It would always be the same thing that screws up; the analog sticks (though I did also have a trigger mess up once too.) When I had a 360, I played with the controller that came with the console for years with no issues whatsoever. If there was a controller with the comfort of PS4 but the durability (in my experience) of the 360, that would be amazing.

Pretty sure this was my first Scott the Woz video. I salute this video for that.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the start/select buttons on the Xbox One controller are supposed to be:
The three lines = the depiction of a pause menu, just incredibly simplified
The two boxes = most games when you pressed select brought up an in game menu, where you look at your weapons, skills, etc. I’m pretty sure the the box behind the second box is the game, and the box in front of it is the menu brought up from pressing select
Or maybe they’re just dumb symbols
Well,The Two Box Button is used as a Menu Button in Roblox so it's usable
DanGames .TH-cam its menu in fortnite and minecraft so
Three lines are called the hamburger button they have been around since the 1980s but recently got popular to mean "menu" which is close to what it meant when it was created.
@@SirNarax learned something new
Xbox described their version of start and select to be menu and view.
Most games will bring up a menu with this button
Xbox called their select button "back" on Xbox and Xbox 360, which wasn't a good name.
Thank you.
Apparently it was also supposed to be used to attach the Wii remote to the back of the controller, otherwise the Wii remote would hang everywhere. Don’t quote me on that though

The mystery button that you mentioned on the Classic Controller was actually used for a nyko accessory. It was a grip kit and you were able to attach the wii remote to the back of the controller.
Tell that to Nathaniel Bandy
Plastic sh*ts
But why
Yeah I think Nintendo had the intention to attach the wii remote to the back to serve two functions:
1. To keep the classic controller more usable since both hands were on it and the Wii remote just hung there which was not the best if you weren't sitting down.
2. It enabled you to use the IR camera to control the Wii without having to pick up the Wii remote and put down the classic controller to make selections or control the curser.
