@@number1ratedsalesman_1997 Some rewards suck but it is absolutely amazing when good rewards are still in stock. The points are so easy to earn as well. However, sometimes it is not great. I think it all comes down to how often you check.

They helped me buy Stardew Valley, the game so good that people BOUGHT it after pirating it to support the developers. Like straight up breaking the law to play a game for free, and then changing your mind to just buy it. Yeah the points are still good

I also had an aunt who never used the points and she has about 30 Wii games. I hate myself because I have about 30 ds games that don't have cases because I put them in a ds case so I lost the boxes.

I recently got my grandma’s old Wii, and inside Donkey Kong Country Returns was a Club Nintendo code.
It’s even worse for me, I live in Europe and have enough points in game boxes to buy all of the stuff I really want, but I didn’t know so I missed my chance.
I was in my late 20's and raising my daughter on my own when club Nintendo started.
So not only did I miss out on all of it... I didn't even know it existed.
I'm 20 and just didn't have a wii or internet for a while. Had a ds though so I did redeem a couple codes here and there as a kid. Never got anything though.

I have like 40 wii games, and all those codes went unused.
I have a huge stack of Wii and Wii U and DS games and stuff and never touched this service and seeing everyone always praise it makes me sad I had no idea what it really even was as a kid
It really cannot be understated though how fast all the good stuff from Club Nintendo went out of stock and how expensive in coins it all was, you had to be buying serious amounts of Nintendo to afford them. Almost all the really good stuff would disappear within 24 hours, even during the 2002-2006 Nintendo VIP gamecube era where not many people were using the internet much. I would then see this stuff on ebay and used game stores for 100's. The amount of time to open all your boxes, enter in all your codes on a crude slow website and keep checking back everyday for decent rewards was really frustrating, so I'm not surprised if most people just gave up on the service altogether. My Nintendo is obviously just for marketing it's consoles to mobile gamers who likely don't even care about traditional gaming consoles, they know the console fanbase is strong enough with the Switch to keep buying their games and re-releases anyway. Until that changes, the good rewards and especially the physical rewards from Club Nintendo days are truly dead.

I remember when I was about 8 years old I saw the gold controller on club Nintendo, I freaked out and tried to get as many codes as possible to get it and I was about 30 points short, I didn't know surveys where available so I got my dad to go out and buy a Nintendo game to get a code. Also, most of those strategy guides are actually starter guides, so they really only have the first 2 chapters from the actual guide, one of which is almost always the control layout.

Fun Story: When the Club Nintendo Mewtwo Smash DLC reward was announced I (only having a 3DS) with a friend (who had a Wii U) redeemed our codes Smash codes on a single account for the free DLC, but because we live in Mexico we couldn't receive the SSB4 soundtrack due to shipping stuff without using some paid service (bare in mind we were just students without jobs), so we put a random address on USA and to this day I believe someone is enjoying a free copy of the SSB4 Soundtrack CD courtesy of Steve Stevenson (the fake name we put).

Not only do the coins expire, but so does your opportunity to claim them from your game purchases. Also there are more than a handful of games where the developers just kinda forgot to tell Nintendo they released physical copies, so don't give you points. The whole system is flawed.

My last Club Nintendo reward back in 2015 was Super Smash Bros (N64) on the Wii: Virtual Console. I went to my local GameStop just to get a compatible controller to play it a few days after. Don't remember much other than that memory with Club Nintendo. Good times!
