They helped me buy Stardew Valley, the game so good that people BOUGHT it after pirating it to support the developers. Like straight up breaking the law to play a game for free, and then changing your mind to just buy it. Yeah the points are still good

I also had an aunt who never used the points and she has about 30 Wii games. I hate myself because I have about 30 ds games that don't have cases because I put them in a ds case so I lost the boxes.

MyNintendo sends you discounts for your Birthday and STILL to last month the discounts are only for WiiU and 3DS games- No switch games discounted. It feels like a slap in the face for my Birthday every June.

It really cannot be understated though how fast all the good stuff from Club Nintendo went out of stock and how expensive in coins it all was, you had to be buying serious amounts of Nintendo to afford them. Almost all the really good stuff would disappear within 24 hours, even during the 2002-2006 Nintendo VIP gamecube era where not many people were using the internet much. I would then see this stuff on ebay and used game stores for 100's. The amount of time to open all your boxes, enter in all your codes on a crude slow website and keep checking back everyday for decent rewards was really frustrating, so I'm not surprised if most people just gave up on the service altogether. My Nintendo is obviously just for marketing it's consoles to mobile gamers who likely don't even care about traditional gaming consoles, they know the console fanbase is strong enough with the Switch to keep buying their games and re-releases anyway. Until that changes, the good rewards and especially the physical rewards from Club Nintendo days are truly dead.

Fun Story: When the Club Nintendo Mewtwo Smash DLC reward was announced I (only having a 3DS) with a friend (who had a Wii U) redeemed our codes Smash codes on a single account for the free DLC, but because we live in Mexico we couldn't receive the SSB4 soundtrack due to shipping stuff without using some paid service (bare in mind we were just students without jobs), so we put a random address on USA and to this day I believe someone is enjoying a free copy of the SSB4 Soundtrack CD courtesy of Steve Stevenson (the fake name we put). Gosh why Nintendo doesn't like Latinamerican customers...
That's pretty much the reason I visited the site when it was shutting down. I finally got the long awaited game, only for it to not have online. Welp, at least I have it.
When I owned my 3DS I was looking at the eShop everyday to see if flipnote studio would be there. It turns out you can only get it through my nintendo...
Its really worth it. Easy to set up and if you log in every week you get 400 points each week. Plus if you have Nintendo mobile games you get loads of points of that
My sister managed a video rental store and she would save the Club Nintendo codes for me when they got new games in. I was ROLLING in the coins for the time she had that job.
I got the game (and my Wii U) a few days after the offer stopped. Though I still got Mewtwo for free and playing as him online a week in advance was so fun. I miss Smash 4... except not really.
This makes me sad, I was too young at the time to understand any of this. I am currently 16 and have a ton of old ds game cases in my basement and it hurts me knowing that this existed and I was too young to really know about it and they all are sitting down their wasted :(

I remember when I was about 8 years old I saw the gold controller on club Nintendo, I freaked out and tried to get as many codes as possible to get it and I was about 30 points short, I didn't know surveys where available so I got my dad to go out and buy a Nintendo game to get a code. I still have the gold controller to this day

If "My Nintendo" is mediocre now, it was absolute trash when it first launched. When it launched, the discounts were mostly 10% and MAYBE 20%. People were complaining and I saw someone direct people to actually complain to nintendo through their website and send them feedback, because they probably DON'T have any idea what people want. So, I'll never forget, messaging them and telling them, 10% OFF is fine for Platinum coins, but if you want me to spend my Gold Coins, I want 30% off. Amazingly, a week later, more and more games started getting 20-30% off. So, I'm okay with the discounts... I just wish they'd offer it on games I want to buy. (or stuff I want to buy digitally.)
Whenever I got a Wii game when I was little, I would look at the little club Nintendo pamplet in the case and think "huh, ok" and that was pretty much all the thought I put into club Nintendo.
I looked up, “Club Nintendo Kirby Patches”, clicked on images, and the first result was an eBay thing of a Kirby Patch with upside-down eyes being sold for 89 dollars.
This video was so nostalgic to watch. I have the zelda ds bag, the zelda ds cartridge case (I use both to this day), the zelda puzzle you showed, and TONS of posters. I think the last thing I got was animal crossing new leaf.

My Nintendo is trash compared to Club Nintendo which actually gave quality products for my purchases rather than some useless discounts, wallpapers, and printable items. Also another service Nintendo discontinued quickly was the ability to earn credits with game purchases for $5.00 E Shop cards.
I remember having a seizure when I was younger because I missed the Luigi’s Mansion 2 statue for the year of Luigi Club Nintendo reward a couple years back. Good times.
Not only do the coins expire, but so does your opportunity to claim them from your game purchases. Also there are more than a handful of games where the developers just kinda forgot to tell Nintendo they released physical copies, so don't give you points. The whole system is flawed.

TBH, as someone who was a member of the North American Club Nintendo for almost its entire existence, it did have some problems. It had some good stuff, but the main issue was they can sell out quick and worst part, when an item sells out, it takes a long while for it to either restock or be replaced.

I remember when I was about 8 years old I saw the gold controller on club Nintendo, I freaked out and tried to get as many codes as possible to get it and I was about 30 points short, I didn't know surveys where available so I got my dad to go out and buy a Nintendo game to get a code. Depends on the person, yeah it is mostly boring stuff like stickers and keychains, but there are some cool animal crossing and mario items like the game case holder and iirc, clothing.

If "My Nintendo" is mediocre now, it was absolute trash when it first launched.
When it launched, the discounts were mostly 10% and MAYBE 20%.
People were complaining and I saw someone direct people to actually complain to nintendo through their website and send them feedback, because they probably DON'T have any idea what people want.
So, I'll never forget, messaging them and telling them, 10% OFF is fine for Platinum coins, but if you want me to spend my Gold Coins, I want 30% off.
Amazingly, a week later, more and more games started getting 20-30% off.
So, I'm okay with the discounts... I just wish they'd offer it on games I want to buy. (or stuff I want to buy digitally.)

Not only do the coins expire, but so does your opportunity to claim them from your game purchases. Also there are more than a handful of games where the developers just kinda forgot to tell Nintendo they released physical copies, so don't give you points. The whole system is flawed.

TBH, as someone who was a member of the North American Club Nintendo for almost its entire existence, it did have some problems. It had some good stuff, but the main issue was they can sell out quick and worst part, when an item sells out, it takes a long while for it to either restock or be replaced.
