Very systematic way of servicing M.benz automatic transmission. The video was very clear and so with the instruction, I just thought that the old transmission fluid from the torque converter should have been drained and renewed as well, otherwise you've done an excellent work Sir, thank you so very much for your time and effort.

Thanks for your great advice! In particular, the critical positioning/timing of the electrical plastic housing to match up with the transmission housing keyways on the 722.6 trans on my 2006 Sprinter!! My original OEM part was leaking. A good trick I came up with was to clean/ "drain" the harness and socket was using a clean shop towel and small shop vacuum. You were right- the fluid had traveled vertically. After about 5 minutes of vacuum, moving the towel in front of harness socket, it wicked dry. Thanks again!

Personally I didn’t bother with the fluid extractor, or the drain plug, just dropped the trans pan. I avoided removing the drain plug to ensure I wouldn’t introduce a leak from the drain bolt.

I like that style of pan gasket. My 2013 Passat uses a gasket similar to that. What I like is that there is no silicone to scrape or get into the transmission accidentally. If that stuff finds its way into the valve body it will be a bad day!!
I really like your way of presenting videos. This will be great for my S210.265, but I will also drain the torque converter, which has another three quarts of dirty trans fluid in it.

very good video. I have waited for years for a video like this. I have a CLK W208 2.0 with automatic transmission, but I guess the work is very similar.
If you have no leaks you can simply use a fluid extractor and pump out about 1 gallon of ATF from the dipstick hole of the transmission and replace it with equal amount of fresh ATF with no hassles. Repeat it three times after driving a little in between fluid exchanges and you replaced most of the ATF fluid by dilution quickly and easily. Do it every 4 years and it will be sufficient maintenance for the life of this transmission. You can do this from the engine bay while wearing your suit :). The cost will be ~$20/gallon per fluid exchange, if you use the fully synthetic Valvoline ATF that is approved for this transmission and works fine. My 20+ year old ML is at 250K miles and the transmission runs smoothly.

You made it look easy great video, I have an E320 which has a hydraulic knock possible from the transmission, I have changed all the motor mounts and changed the diff oil, this is my next job in the hope to solve this problem
My car is constantly leaking oil from that rubber gasket you put on.I changed the gasket 3 times, I applied a liquid gasket, it is leaking again.What would be the reason?
will this method also remove oil from the torque converter. The reason why I ask is that its is very hard to get to the converter plug in my 2014 sprinter, its a real nightmare so I am looking at this system, The drain plug was also striped so I cannot remove it, I dont want to just drop the pan and get that terrible mess Thanks
I have a 1992 300sl and I changed my transmission fluid and can’t locate the electrical connector,not sure if the transmission is a 722.6 or 722.5 are the connectors different
I had an issue with my 722.626 trans from an 320cdi which I installed in my w124 wagon along with om606 turbo with tuned om606 n/a mechanical injectionpump. I was driving home from work when my transmission started slipping and I had no gears. It turns out the magnet in the pan had been sucked up in the pickup on the trans filter.
Will I lose fluid? If i change the harness connector? .i already change my fluid with atf max fluid I have a 2007 C230 I sometimes feel it in limp mode yes it has transmission code out or range etc codes
Diesel Mercedes yes theres one or your oil pan and right by the pan there 2 little windows with plastic covers. You have to take the cover off an spin the motor by hand till you see the drain bolt.
@@kernowmcrae Vital, you and two other watchers knew there is still several quarts left in the torque converter. There are other videos to show a full service for the gearbox especially draining the torque converter, vital stuff. I've checked the box specification for fluid quantity, 11 quarts. Check the fluid before commencement, measure wthat is drained from the box is the absolute test, the owner/repairer does have to be responsible despite anything on a TH-cam video. One other option another guy describes, an inspection plate to access a drain plug on the torque converter. That was news to me I was going to do it your way. Vital to remove ALL the fluid looking at the colour of the contents of this W210.
my car w169 class A 2007 getting 2734 and 0841 error, some time gear slip however from last week new error on dashboard - Transmission -visit workshop. total Milage 91k. is it require to replace the transmission ? or only replace transmission oil will work. I checked with one garage they have given me 2nd had transmission cost as 2300 Pound.

Great description of a tranny change. I wish you lived here lol. I have a Mercedes 280 C class 2007 and I think it may be slipping a little. At the 20 rpm it revs a little then drops.
(722.6) How many litres total 7.5 or 8 ? Torque converter capacity ? Drain pan capacity ? Have shifting issues after fluid change. Filled 4 litres after draining( low or overfilled)
How did you install the car on these wooden platforms? Can you write about it in more detail or make a video about it? It will be very interesting for those who independently maintain their car.

Wondering why the drain plug wasn't used instead of pump.
Also, apparently my Vito's torque converter holds 4L of fluid, none was removed here.

2.5 Nm per WIS. But no one has such torque wrenches, so you just tighten it by the feel.

I did mine by disconnecting the feed cooler line, starting the car, and letting it pump out a quart at a time before topping up.

Solo cambias lo del carter unos 2L pero todo lo restante del convertidor de par y lo demas¿ los 5 o 6 Litros que faltan sigen dentro
