Shoutout to Imperial Barbershop Amsterdam. If you need a lineup, he is located at kinkerstraat 202, Amsterdam.
Poffertjes are not supposed to be mini pancakes. Poffertjes are.... well... Poffertjes😊. Poffertje translates like "Puffed". They are made with a different batter. They are supposed to be eaten with butter and powdered sugar. "Stroop" (wich is not caramel, but a sugar syrup btw) is prohibited on poffertjes 😅
Yes, poffertjes batter traditionally has yeast. Pancake batter doesn't. In Scheveningen I once had poffertjes with Grand Marnier - but they still came with powder sugar and butter! 😉😃
I came here to say the same! I really love stroop on every pancake I eat (especially kaas-spek pannenkoek!), but put it on poffertjes is a culinary crime!
They are. American pancakes are more thick and puffy and is almost exactly the same as a poffertje
You're the first American couple that have truly tried the authentic stroopwafels. Most couples with TH-cam accounts went to this modern fancy place that don't serve you the authentic ones, they serve like more modern recipes. The original one is just with caramel and a biscuit, and you'd only get it at a market.
I used to get stroopwafel crumble at the market on Sunday, for just going shopping with my parents.
Used to get a full bag for €1,- good times back then.
@@MLWJ1993 The crumbles are good too. My mom always bought those for at home, but we first got one of the stroopwafels as a child.
Thank you guys for always watching and supporting
Thank you doing these videos!!
Thank you for the great video have fun no chemicals or corn syrup in there food it's band in there country
Yes😊@@Arelis_ESP
Welcome to our beautiful country. Hope we don’t spoil you guys to much with our food. The thing I remember from visiting the USA, besides the amazing views and wonderful people, is how sweet and artificial everything tasted. And yes, stroopwafel and haring and those unique tasted you won’t find anywhere in the world. Have fun guys!
Also salty licorice! 😉😆
@@TheCloggydoggy Heerlijk!
My uncle found it pretty nice that they could feed the whole family with a single menu in the USA though 😂
Seriously the portion sizes were huge.
I don't eat fish but stroopwafels are great, even the ones from the supermarket. I need to try the fresh ones when I am the next time in the Netherlands
Usa has a much broader spectrum. Some food is much worse, some food is just amazing.
Love getting to see other countries through your eyes because i will never be able to do it myself. Thank you Kalani and Sav
Aww thank you for watching!
Recently discovered your channel by accident, via Facebook of all places and you were reviewing a full English breakfast. Something about you was just so normal, down to earth amd honest and then i stumble upon your reviews with Sav and man, you two are just happy souls that love being yourself, love food, love each other and love life. In the nicest way possible, i just love how normal and real you are. Nothing too much, just real. And i for one, in a world of not that. Need that. Thank you guys x
Poffertjes are eaten with 'roomboter'. Molten. Combined with the powdered sugar it's super
Looks like they are just standing in their own bubble, kinda strange ,speack with the local people, the best way to discover nice places to go ,eat ... theres so much to discover in this beautiful city , muséum,bar, music places
That's not haring you tasted. It was sardines! 😂 but try the real herring.
I will!
And kibbeling
They were boquerones, anchovies
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪
The Dutch food is so good like the people so freindly ❤🤝
Savannah, so pretty as always! Kalani, the beard trim looks really good! Love the photo booth type pics y’all did, so cute!! 🖤✨
Thank you 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Guys, you didnt eat haring. You ate ansjovis 😅😊
Yo your singing voice low key😊❤
Yeah, ansjovis or perhaps sardines? But definitely not haring haha
What you call pancakes at 2 minutes are called poffertjes (small pancake like) and you don't eat them with stroop. Just powdered sucker and melted butter.
Lindt is Swiss, Milka is German, Côte d'Or is Belgian.
A real Dutch chocolate treat are Bros, they now only have the milky variant but back in the 80's you also had the dark chocolate variant.
The pastries you categories as dessert isn't really dessert for us. We eat them as 'cookies' with tea or coffee mid morning or in the afternoon or in the evening.
As dessert we eat yoghurt, vla (a really Dutch product), icecream.
Verkade and tony chocolonely are typical Dutch brands and both really good.
@@woutersplinter4981 Correct, later I realized that I also could have mentioned those brands too.
@@woutersplinter4981 Verkade chocola is niet meer het iconische merk dat het ooit was. De smaak van hun chocolade is slechter dan van huismerken.
Love these! Thanks for letting us live vicariously through y'all!
Thank you! I love being able to be a lens for folks to see what the worlds like. It’s so fun
Using sirup is not for Poffertjes, only butter and fine sugar!
Love that you two share your experiences.
No butter with the pancakes(poffertjes')??
So excited to see this! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us Sav and Kalani 🖤🖤🖤
The hockey sticks and tennis thingies are the best drop eva❤
Loving this trip! Thank you for filming. Peace ✌️
Omg how much fun! You guys are awesome for sharing this with us!
I assume you are from America, when you were in the supermarket I was amazed at how well the lady pronounced the Dutch words👏🏽. And the man with the cowboy hat loves country music, but when he takes off the hat he looks like a lead singer of a heavy metal band 😁🤗🤗
So happy y’all are enjoying yourselves ! Make the best outta it and take many pictures. Much love to you both! ❤
That's the plan!
You two are so adorable on your trip! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks for watching!
Hi guys, thank you for this wonderful, totally American, review of our food.
I really enjoyed it, not only the fact you liked these Dutch products but also the way you name them and eat them.
Poffertjes, the mini pancakes are supposed to be eaten with powdered sugar and butter, not with a sirup. So give it another try, you will for sure enjoy it even more.
Your shopping in Albert Heijn was hilarious as well, you went for all the products I always skip. Energy drinks are way to sugary and in combination with alcohol can be bad for your heart. And then the cookies and cakes you bought, really delicious however not considered desert by the Dutch. A desert is a pudding or yogurt or a selection of cheese. Cakes and cookies are considered a side dish to coffee or tea. Not something to close dinner with.
Those are cultural differences i point out. Main thing is, I enjoyed watching you get stuffed.😂
I love to see you trying Dutch food. You are are great couple.
Love this content. You guys do an awesome job. Enjoying this more than the ghost hunting
Sorry guys but that was not haring
Welcome to our cultural melt pot Amsterdam ❤ I live across the street of your hotel. Good to see you enjoyed it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Kpop! Love this video! I enjoyed seeing the grocery store. Kept pausing to look at everything lol.
You guys should've had tryed kibbeling (Fried Batterd cod) it's my favorite fish dish
And in that case don't forget to specifically ask for Cod. Often they use cheaper kinds of fish but are able to use cod if u ask for it (For a little higher price)
@@wowfighterfreerunn 100% True they make it with Pollak (Alaskian fish) or Whiting fish (wijting vis) my nephew owns a fish shop and he makes it with Pollak unless you ask for cod.
Please keep these vlogs up when you go home guys! Ur the best duo 🙌🏻
That’s the plan!
Lots of goodies! Enjoying your adventures! Stay safe!
Thank you so much
Thanks for sharing this adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Those stroopwaffles looked incredible. 😋
welcome in my country! hope u guys are having a good time! subscribed!
Your Dutch pronunciation of stroopwafel and Albert Heijn is pretty good.
So jealous of all the food! It all looked amazing! Especially the bakery shop. Beard looks good too! Kpop!
Thank you for watching!!!
First time I came across your channel, love the way you both dive into tasting stuff. I wonder if you tried the "stamppot" here?
Maybe you did,I am going to view more of your content..
All the food look amazing ❤
Exciting day for you guys! Beard looks good Kalani!
In my opinion the best milk just above Jersey milk is the transparent bottle called 'Elke melk' (every milk / any milk). It tastes less processed to me. And on the bottle it says what kind of cow it came from and what the taste should be like. For example a little on the sweet side or more creamy.
Nothing beats a fresh warm stroopwafel everyone loves them! Glad you guys liked it as well :)
This looks so amazing hope your enjoying your selves
I highly recommend the digestive biscuits 😋 👏. You seem to be like our chocolate so you'll love those biscuits.
Do they make you 💩
@@KalaniandSav ha ha, absolutely not. They make you want to eat the full packet 🤭 but you need a cup of tea with them to dunk the biscuit in. So if you don't have tea making facilities wait to you come here to the uk then buy a packet 💜
Love this series!
You can buy stroopwafels in the US. Not fresh but they’re nice enough! Lay them on your coffee cup to soften up before you eat it.
Great video! ❤ I want those pancakes and chocolate bars. 😆
The pancakes were so yummy
We have a market in Cincinnati where my dad would get some pickled herring. He and I were the only ones in the family they would eat it. I want to try that.
U should come to the dutch food festival in Amsterdam called rollende keukens.. translated rolling kitchens! U will be in heaven mate! A couple of 100 of the best foodtrucks from the netherlands gathered with a lot of music
When is it?
Awesome! ❤❤ I love sushi so I would say that my fav and that waffle caramel thingy looks good too! Kalani like the trim! Sav, you are always beautiful! ENJOY!
Thank you for watching!
Who in the Dutchie told a tourist to try 'jersey milk'?
I’m upset …. I asked someone too
HI GUYS,SO NICE TO SEE YOU HAVE FUN IN AMSTERDAM,GREETINGS ELI❤
When you come to the uk. You have to try pickled onion monster munch crisps. So good.
'I would fly back to this country for that'..lmao 😂
I hope you hop on the train and visit Belgium. I love their chocolates, waffles and fries!!
We want to visit Belgium for sure
Yall are so fun & hey how about K POO lol! Kalani your beard trimmed up and mustache gone looks very clean and good too. I bet Savanah is loving it Thos is such a beautiful places & very clean compared to the US. I cant wait to see more of your travels..
try something else than burger king and macdonnalds, dutch restaurants and streetfoods are amazing and dont drown anything in nutrella and poffertjesw arent eaten with syrup, just powdered sugar and butter. in the netherlands are there are no walmarts
Also try a dutch Indonesian place if you can and satay
Albert Heijn is only Walmart in that it's the major brand in it's category.
Walmart is more like French grocery stores like Hypermarché and Carrefour.
We don't have an equivalent, but smaller grocery stores are actually kind of nice.
That litle car was a Opel Rocks I think. Similar to a Citroën Ami and Fiat Topolino.
Absolutely loving your videos!
Kpop!
Thank you!!!!
Hey guys... Dutch American here... I was just as suprised as you guys were walking into a Dutch supermarket for the first time 10 years ago.
American, not dutch American. Unless you speak Dutch and live here, you aren't Dutch
of all the cheese we have he picks a "French" cheese xD
You really should visit maastricht down in the south .it's the capital city of limburg province. The best vlaai (pie"s and pastry)of the Netherlands
I just wanted to let you know that I love your videos ❤
That street market is the Albert Cuyp markt, which us the biggest daily street market in Europe!
Love ❤️ Love your beard!!!!
2:34 poffertjes 😊 4:10 this is very normal in the Netherlands we pay to much for a little bit of meat . 5:08 grilworst is super delicious 😋 the best beer is grolsch . 6:36 it's like red bull only cheaper.
7:29 almost every milk is good , you have in different fat ratio the best is the volle melk . For real good milk go to a farmer who sells milk . The food you nee to try is hagelslag and Dutch bak lever and bak bloed worst and appeltaart and different stampot ( stews )
Grolsch😂
Yeah this store is definitely the dutch co-op i can tell 100%
I forgot yesterdays i will watch after i loved the pics "kpop" i smashed 👍🏻 and shared it love it thank you ❤😊🎉
Loved the vid! Thumbs up!
The food stands with fresh snacks/food are highly recommended. Stroopwafels from a stand are soooo much better than those from the supermarket. Burger King I would not recommend if you would like to experiment new food, unless you would like to compare it with Burger King in the US. For me all that pre-fabricated fast food like Burger King and McDonalds is that you pay too much and one burp later you are hungry again. If you would like to try some Dutch fast food, go for bitterballen with mosterd or a kaassoufflé (cheese soufflé). Omnomnom
Great video, guys!
KPOP!
If you want to try Dutch chocolate, try Verkade ☺️
K-Pop 😉
Wow, you were really willing to try almost everything food wise…. 😂
That are dessert forks. Very normal.
So much fun watching you two ! Kpop!!
Thank you!
I liked all the food u have tried they all look good but question is what is there money like as in looks or how to use convert from us to euro money
So the conversion rate is about .92 euro for every 1 USD. Everything is more than it would be in dollars by this amount. ATM’s have an okay exchange rate. Don’t do it at the airport
This little street market is called Albert Cuyp Market and is one of the biggest street markets in Europe. ;)
You really need to try Royalty Burgers in BS14 Bristol, double ultimate with fries and sjhaje is unreal!
Kpop is my fave and loved the lil jam session. :)
Thanks for letting us tag along as always!!
No problem!!
If you find wotsits ( they are like cheesy's, please try them 😊
The herring you guys ate was not the typical pickled herring we Dutch love so much, but Zure Haring (Sour herring) as far as I could see . So you guys really have to retry 😅
Don't think it was herring but boquerones, those are anchovies
Now I wanna try a stroopwaffle ! The shape up looks nice! Ps kpop 😂
THEY ARE AMAZING
What do you guys do with the leftover food after you taste test
I eat most of it hahah. I hate wasting food
Your beard looks really good❗️
if you set the stroopwaffles over hot coffee or tea they are even better!! so good
Idk… these were warm and fresh… this one could have not been any better hahahaha
0:09 I also roll out of my bed every morning and decide to break down.
Hahahahha
i'm gonna try the chickenwing technique
KPOP. In Perth Australia our Powerades and soy sauces are the exact same packaging. Loving the videos ❤🇦🇺
I’m wanna visit Australia soon
Definitely it's fab.✌️❤️🇦🇺
Good Job, grts from Eindhoven
I absolutely love this, thank you for sharing this with us!! #KPOP my favorite would be the waffle stroop
It was sooooo yummy
kpop Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee im into your third A'dam video now.. You eat a lot of stuff we don't eat here in A'dam but it's fun to watch haha But omg.. Your bloodsugar must be on a different level now haha Ps the triple x beanie.. Triple x are 3 Andreas crosses and it's city coat of arms of Amsterdam.
Shoulda tried the stinkiest blue cheese you could find, that market does fried shrimp with sweet chili sauce 🍤
7 euros for the poffertjes... basically you got ripped of at a tourist spot.
Eat them with butter. locally on the streets you get them cheaper and better.
Also. we basically don't have anything like a wallmart. its all just grocery stores. -
and prices went up last few years but don't try to get rid of with tourist spot prices. / but cheese is super expensive as of late.
Stroopwafels are great. just don't get them with fancy flavours. that's a tourist thing. - the regulars are the way to go.
thats called a cake fork, one prong is wider so you can cut/slice a bite off
You eat wings like my hubby!! 🤣 yummy!
😋
#Kpop
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! I'm absolutely loving these and can't wait to see more!! ❤
Awww thank you!
@@KalaniandSav You're very welcome! 😊
Kpop and Thank you for another amazing Vlog!
"Kpop "y'all are so cute loved this ❤❤
So my guys: No herring there.. It's anjovis (anchovy, pickled ) ... a specialty from the mediterrian 🙂
