Why would you want to trade-in your Model Y for the newest Model 3 though?
I agree i would choose the current M3 rather than a Y.
Im a huge fan of Tesla & may get a used M3 when the price hopefully drops.
MY REASON WHY A MODEL 3: I sat in both a new M3 & Y and the M3 feels more egornamically comfy overall. The Y felt a bit uncomfortable, the front visor part was too low on the Y (like on some old small convertibles). The M3 is smaller, but i felt feels like it was made for people taller than 5ft 8(which i am) and yes, i know 6ft people could fit, but that's not my point here. The seats felt way better in the M3. Both me & my cousin both agreed on this and he's 6ft.
So if you:
-Don't already own a Y
-Are 5 ft 8 or Taller
-Don't need the extra cargo room
Then: just go & take a seat for a full 5 minutes, in each (since all of your driving will be sitting down right?). Don't look at the center console or be amazed of the fancy features, just sit there, put your hands on the wheel and then rest your arms on the side and hopefully i might of saved you on an impulse Model Y purchase.
When i try on running shoes, i do a quick sprint in them at the store to see if they are comfy, even if i look dumb to others, i know i made the right decision.
Ryan, Tesla should make the full self driving software transfer to a new tesla. So if you buy it for $10,000 it doesn't go with the old car, it stays with the owner and the software license can be appliied to a new purchased Tesla. I would have bought it if that was the option. But I was not going to spend $7,000 (when I got my Y) on something with no long term value. This would also lock in customer brand loyalty. Keeping current Tesla owners only buying Tesla as more and more other brands enter the EV market.
I think FSD should follow the owner and not the car.
Tesla should transfer FSD if you are trading in for a new car. It's just software they can add or remove at anytime.
But then they'd have to have a different price for FSD for the person buying the used car. FSD is cheaper when bought with the car than after the fact. Plus as the chip is ageing, they'd have to figure out a depreciating value for the second hand chip. Easier to factor in the value of FSD to the sale of a used car don't you think?

@@geemy9675 FSD, if tied to an owner could have a 'transfer fee' if you trade the car into Tesla on a new Tesla. Would likely remove the hesitancy of owners who have FSD to trading in on a new Tesla. Could spur sales of the high end S's and X's.

You can always sell private. I have bought a second hand Model 3 with full self driving and everything worked out fine. 🙂
Not interested in the yoke, either. I'm a private pilot and so I am used to a yoke. It works in an airplane because the deflection left or right is typically only a few degrees. Full deflection is only around 90 degrees but you only see that on the ground during preflight or while taxiing for crosswind compensation. You'd only see full deflection in flight while doing aerobatics, and then you'd rather be flying with a stick. Not a good fit for steering an automobile, round is better.
I agree 100% except that on a race track it would become useful, similar to F1. Daily driving though would be cumbersome and impractical.
I think the fact that you don't get additional value for the car having FSD needs to change. I wasn't aware that the car value didn't have it baked in.. anyway I paid $6k for FSD in 2019 and even though I love my Model 3 Performance, all I know is I wouldn't' pay 10 for FSD lol

@@Tooradj By that logic paying for anything up front would be the costumers fault if they never receive the promised product? That's like going to mcdonalds and never getting my order and when I go ask the employee says, "well it's your fault for paying before receiving your burger."
you do get the FSD value when you sell your Tesla car in a private sale, it will be worth $10,000 more than an identical vehicle without FSD.
where you lose the value is when you trade it in with Tesla, they will not give you the extra $10,000. Tesla wrote the software, they own it, so why would they pay you $10,000 for something they already own and have access to?
btw, since you paid 6k for FSD, and it's now worth 10k, your vehicle is actually worth 4k more than an identical Tesla vehicle that doesn't have FSD

Would love to see a comparison on tires vs comfort for Y and whether a higher profile tire will still fit. The 21,s are tough to use but look the best.
Honestly you'd be better off with the smaller tire and wheel with more sidewall to absorb impact and a lower rolling resistance relative to the overall size of the wheel. In short the 19" will give better battery economy and a better ride quality. I agree a comparison would be great to show just how much of a difference it makes but I'm willing to bet it's substantial.

I took delivery of my MYP at the end of December, as such, I have FSD until April 1st. I've come to like Auto Lane Change, the other functions I have not used except for trying Summon once in an empty parking lot, I wasn't impressed.
It would be nice if the features of FSD could be a la carte, I would gladly purchase ALC if the price was reasonable.
Is FSD worth buying if we are financing at 2% APR ?
I have a 2020 - Y and absolutely love the current FSD, worth every penny. Just this weekend going through a narrow lanes construction zone with very little separation between cars and handel it better the I could. Great in heavy stop and go traffic, Current FDS a major reducer of Stress!! Thank you Tesla.

I live 5mins from the Superchargers in SM and have been seeing signs that say "V3 Superchargers coming soon" but had no clue it would that kind of built out! So excited for this.
I ordered my M3P on January 19th and I still have no word on my delivery date. The rep said it was because of the shortage, nothing I can do but wait.. hopefully by April I’ll have my car!!!
I ordered a model 3 LR+FSD last week and was quoted 1 - 2 weeks delivery. Additionally, I opted for a 36 month lease which is about $680/mo. After my $6k down payment + 36 mo payments I'll spend $30k. I worked out that I'm only paying about $4k for FSD and still get a new car in 3 years.

Nio is not "all In" on battery swapping, they've just had a lot of battery swaps over 500K. They do have chargers and home charging

You should see the lineups at a lot of the California superchargers. It isn't unheard of to wait for 2+ hours to get plugged in. While I know that there is huge demand *everywhere* for superchargers, they can only put in so many, so fast. And right now, they're prioritizing areas like southern California where the long supercharger wait times are actually hurting sales of new Teslas. Patience, young Padawan... your time will come.

In the UK there is Full Self Driving package which costs £6,800 but there is a cheaper option of enhanced autopilot which costs £3,400
Waiting for insurance companies to reduce premiums. As for the $10K or FSD, it’s too expensive right now. There are too many “ifs” at this point, if they do this or if they deliver that. I interested in Robo Taxi and FSD would be great for that … but got to get there.
What will be the price for FSD once robotaxis are in full swing, operating perfectly?

@@justinbartley5245 I think that they estimated yearly gain after expenses is said to be about $30k if you robotaxi almost full-time. If that's the case, a 1 year payoff makes sense, so I think $30k is reasonable. An over 3 year payoff isn't very enticing, especially since they estimate retiring the car after 10 years

From what I've heard, it won't be anytime soon but might be retroactive for purchases after January 2021.

@@scottbreseke716 no way it'll cost 10k once it's rolled out in full. A more reasonable price would be 5 fold what they're currently charging. It's essentially a perfect full time chauffeur. What would that cost if it were a human driver? Priceless.
Does anyone know how far back in model years will the soon to be released FSD be backwards compatible? I’m thinking of trading in my 2015 model S for a newer model that already has FSD capability, but want to make sure to get a model year that’s supported. Any thoughts?
I'd like to order a M3P but the low power output issues with the new panasonic low cobolt batteries puts me off. You have to ha e at least 75% SOC to get the acceleration Tesla states it has

Tesla salesperson says model 3 takes production every 3 months. Which means if we don’t order now by March. We will have to wait for the next production to get model 3 in June. Is that true? It’s different than what you mentioned in the video 2-3 weeks whenever you place the order

Supposed to be two to three times stronger than a normal roof so it should hold up fine.
Evidently you have not used Summon recently. I literally use Summon with my Model Y almost daily. It have progressed greatly since last year...
2 to 4 weeks for model 3, not if you want a M3 performance in the UK, up to 5 months from order date!!!
Watched a video on FSD: presently all 8 cameras are being integrated to make a 2D birds eye view, plus frames over time make it 3D. I think for FSD they will have to.make the birds eye view in 3D, plus add time - making it a 4D environment. Example, not enough to know the curve to steer through, you also need the roadway superelevation to calculate allowable speed. Or a bridge height will be needed to verify clearance.
I have been thinking of the second hand price of an old Tesla, will the second hand price not increase when everybody wants to change to EV. Now its a niche market, but what will happen with the second hand prices when its much more common with EV:s?
The Solar Roof concept just makes so much sense to me, much more than discrete panels. I hope they continue to push hard at it.

It makes it sound that way, but it’s not. The computer is included. I bought after delivery and it was just software
Some people may want the FSD package up front because it can be part of the financing. If you do it after, it obviously isn't. So, the monthly cost could actually seem lower when you pick the up front option depending on the financing conditions and the price of the subscription.
Bingo! $10K financed at 2.49% is easy to defend.

Solar roof sounds amazing! I wish I could afford the lowest model Tesla. It's way out of my price range, I stuck with my gas vehicle.
I just had Solar Panels installed by Tesla. Ordered on Dec. 25, 2020, installed a week and a half ago, near Tampa, Florida. Communication has been top notch. Waiting on the go ahead from the utility right now.

Tesla solar is all dependent on the local
contractor. My area they were dirtbags and sounded like used car salesman. I went with someone else. My neighbor went Tesla a month before me. I was turned on first, and all my rebates and monthly credits were handled by my company. He’s still figuring it all out on his own.
When I bought my model X in 2917 it came with full autopilot. I thought that included future update to FSD. But now it seems not so. I feel a bit swindled.

Surely the reason to buy FSD is to send your car out to earn robotaxi fares so why would you sell it when you buy a new one, by which point it will be too expensive if available at all, so you 'd then get the subscription going forward.

I think fsd is a really nice technology. I think the issue with full autonomous vehicles isn’t the technology itself, but that they will make up a very small percentage of vehicles on the road. I don’t think it’s possible to fully predict what other drivers will do at any given moment. As a result you still have to be on full alert.
Anyone else getting a yoke wheel? I drive a lot with my hand on top of the wheel, then again I can do that with this and have more vision clearence from the wheel.

I have a Model Y and had to have it in the service center for a day for some stuff and they lent me a Model 3 for 24 hours and all I can say is, I could not wait to get my Model Y back!

Would have thought that wireless charging would have been implemented more, considering that they're so up for full self drive. The car could then self charge without the reliance of wires needing to be plugged into the car.
Why where you considering selling your model Y for a model 3?
Tesla roof looks better but it does not function better. I understand tesla roof is supposed to be approximately 5.5 W per square foot. Regular solar panels are much higher (21 sq ft = 375 w; 15-17 W per square foot)
I'm actually very happy to see full self-driving come as a subscription service. I didn't purchase my model 3 because it's just way too much money to avoid driving, which I love to do. Perhaps if I ever do feel like having full self-driving for a period of time I won't have to commit $10,000.
I got the Tesla solar subscription option. It was quick and easy. For those few states who can do that option it is a no brainer.
