    Looking forward to an update on your 954RR. I gotta say man bc of your rebuild series on the 954rr I purchased a MINT 929rr with great mods and 5k miles, then yesterday bought a 954rr which deff needs some maintenance to get %100. Im going to rewatch your rebuild series on the 954rr and do as much of the work as I can!

    Those fairings make the bike look in very immaculate condition.

    • @carlmayer691
      @carlmayer691 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      'immaculate' the motorcycle is a scratched up corroded piece of junk...might run fine, but what an abject mess otherwise. You can realize everything, especially maintenance by the way the owner takes care of his motorcycle, especially the chain..obviously this poor Zx14 was treated poorly....what a shame !

    that rear caliper needs a full overhaul

    • @mightybeanstick9872
      @mightybeanstick9872 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Agreed. Just cleaning the bit of the pistons you can see will leave a band of crud just below the top of the bore, which then gets pushed back past the seals when he used the piston spreader, damaging the seals. To be fair, the seals probably need to be replaced anyway.
      At the very least, pump the pistons out a little way until you can see clean metal, then clean. But a full strip down/ refurb would be far better.

    • @carlmayer691
      @carlmayer691 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      so do the discs...they need a good going over w/ wet 800-1000 grit sandpaper ..and a good wipe w/ brakleen ...BOTH sides. The fronts didn't look much better either...no sense replacing pads, bleeding, w/o cleaning the discs ....the pads just pick up the rust in this case regarding the rear, and that's that...not the best 'rebuild' video for sure...this is not a Ninja 400...brakes are important on the mighty ZX14 LOL

    • @VytautasValaitis

      Pistons need a replacement. Scotch Brite rubs off all of the coating.

    My experience of Japanese bikes is they cleannup like new again.

    Hey, I really like your videos and love the 954s!
    But I gotta say what you did with the rear brake was not done professionally and should not be used as an example.
    You should have disassembled the callipers and cleaned the pistons + inspecting them, replace the seals while at it.
    At the very least you should have pumped the pistons out further before cleaning.
    That sliding pin needs to be replaced aswell.
    Brakes are no joke and shouldn't be done half-assed :)
