Hey Goblins, thanks again for watching. We've noticed a slight error with the GTR1400 specs listed in the video. The stated displacement in the video is 1441cc, however its actually 1352cc. 100cc makes all the difference 🤣

Been riding a zx 14 for two days, no lie, the traction control is on point. The electronic aids are just perfect. Not too much. Not too little. I love it. And the ABS is pretty great for the road. Too bad it isnt mine XD and I'm returning it tomorrow.

depends which year model. my 2021 ZX14r is in fact 1441cc. also in Aus there is no ZZR1400's. We only have the ZX14R for at least the last 14 years. I think ZZR is the UK nomenclature but am happy to be wrong.
The busa (Gen3) does not get close to my 14 in terms of comfort, ride, or power.
Also have rode with a H2 - they are a bit more nimble in the twisties, but i think that comes down to their less weight, and therefore do not need to brake so hard arriving at corners at speed

As Rodm says, Gen 1 is the 1252 / 186hp version, gen 2 (2012 on) is the 1441 196hp version.

I have owned an '06 ZZR1400 for 6 years. First year of manufacture, totally standard. No aftermarket exhaust etc, nothing.
I could write pages how much I love it.
It commutes at low rpm, it will swing through the bends so nicely, it will rocket up that tarmac road like holy christ on a melting iron lava flow! It does it all.
My favorite and most prized possession.
The ZZR 14 is spectacular, if you can ever test ride one, or even buy one, do it. Its phenomenal.
P.S. be careful, it will do 100mph in 2nd and you will feel like it's doing 50. Too easy to do high speeds.

    • @JMackin1016
      @JMackin1016 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you think that's ridiculous, get an exhaust and have it tuned, especially to have the 2ndary butterflies open up at low RPM. In stock form, they open just above 6k, so nothing really low down. Flashing out those butterflies, it pulls like it does at 6krpm, at only 2200rpm. Absolutely insane.

People say the zzr and gtr are very similar, hhmmm the similarities end at both bikes have two wheels. My big GTR can hussle her bussle when she wants to but the zzr blows the living shit out of it... Still two beautiful bikes aimed at slightly different markets.

I have the GTR and agree 100 per cent with you. I do annual trips riding for thousands of miles from the UK around Europe, Scandinavia. The thing with the GTR is that the shaft drive is maintenance free. Granted it can’t hold a candle to the ZZR but keep it in second and the Rev counter needle in the upper quarter she really hussles. The brakes are superb and the electronics are giggle inducing (pin the throttle wide open while banked right over and feel the power come in as you straighten up)

I own the third ZZR 1400. I'm still madly in love with this project, which I think is very good. Very powerful bike but that takes you on a rocket with comfort. You can do anything with it and it never disappoints. I am so in love that 12 years ago I became the manager of the ZZR 1400 Club Italia group and every year I organize international events. ZZR 1400: fantastic bike!

I was in a trance just staring at it,. My parents were talking to me but all I could hear was blah blah blah...my dad started screaming at me.. said those motorcycles are f*** f****** idiots Jackie... So I guess it was 30 years later he walks in my house and there's one in my living room.. look on his face with priceless.. but now I got the ZX-14.. I do miss my Suzuki's. But the ZX14 is just awesome

I've owned a 17 plate ZZR1400 since new - and I'll never let it go... I've ridden countless machines over the years, and for me the ZZR is the complete bike for me. It's got everything I could wish for; comfort, ease, looks, features, reliability (it hasn't skipped a beat at all), and the most fierce acceleration (throughout the whole rev range) I've could ever wish for, on tap! Torque truly is king! I've ridden the H2 (a whacky marvel of a machine, but I'll be honest, I was hard pressed to feel a real difference between the two bikes), and then the H2SX, which I found not to be anywhere near the same league as the ZZR, though I find it a very attractive bike. I often dream if Kawasaki ever did develop a supercharged ZZR1400 (can you imagine that!?!) testing for possible production 🤔 but, we'll never know now that production has stopped for the mighty ZZR, such a shame.. The only positive, they're now a collectors bike with a huge reputation - and there are many happy owners out there.

Very nimble in corners, will wheelie in fourth at 220kph using synthetic and if the road has sudden rises, no joke. Also just went to British Columbia from Toronto and back. Great gas milage, quiet, comfortable. An Axe murderer in a three piece suit. This genre of bike will be missed.

I have a Gen 2 GTR and my chum has a gen 2 ZZR... THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.. Now my GTR can tramp on rightly but the ZZR is a different animal. Far lighter and a ballistic missile compared to my medieval canon GTR... Now as a 59 year old former road racer I'm very happy with my bike but the ZZR will put you in a different postcode in the twinkling of an eye...

I wish they'd update the ZX-14R. I appreciate that it is still made, but it shouldn't be ignored.
Cruise control would be an ideal fit, a large color TFT display, heated grips, centerstand, and I bet they could cut 100 pounds of weight starting with the exhaust system.

Yes, the display is not really what one expect today - dark and gloomy. Some sorts of cruise control and updated electronics (cornering ABS etc) would be nice. I love the bike, just recently stepped up from a KTM (that had all possible electronics). Used to ride a ZX12R for a few years and wanted to return to a large powerful bike again - really missed it.

Hi Goblins , I have had 3 of these bikes from 2008 to 2015 models, a beautiful and good bike in every way, I now have a H2 sx se , took me along time to get used to it as it doesn't have the brute power of the zzr. I was brought up on bikes with raw power, been riding bikes from 1979 ( the zzr is in a class of its own) . The H2 is so smooth but brutally fast (ecu flashed) without you knowing it , mine has been flashed so it has lots of very smooth power, now that I am used to riding the H2 I am enjoying it the most . I must say I wish I had the money to have kept my ZZR also as it is really a legend and a collectors item. I also had the 2010 busa a very fast bike solid in every way , also a legend of a bike but I felt the zzr was better for me that is. The bike show comparison between the ZZR and H2 sx was a huge mismatch as the H2 sx they used was a stock standard version (not flashed). Standard it is not what you pay for when you purchase the H2 sx. You are very right when you say the zzr is a very special bike.Thank you for this video Goblins

I bought a new 98 ZX-11, a new 07 ZX-14, and two years ago I bought a very nice used 08 Concours 14. They’re all awesome. The ZX-14 is the best bike I’ve ever had for the age I was when I had it. But at 60 years old now, the Concours is a better fit for me, ergonomically. It still has massive power and handles beautifully. I’d be happy with any of those three bikes. I can’t afford the H2.

I’ve owned 2 ZXR14 and a GTR14 at the same time. The ZXR is an absolute missile that handles and tours very well. But the GTR got out of the garage90% of the time due to great comfort and more than enough power. But every few months I would take out the ZXR and be blown away by how fast it is and how slow the GTR was compared even though the GTR is a fast bike. Conclusion they are both outstanding super reliable bikes.

I got rid of mine and now own the GTR 1400 and this is also an amazing bike for other reasons. Yes there's a shaft drive. There is more room for rider and pillion and for all the extra clothes the wife just has to take away with us.

Have had a 2012 1400 since new, my son also has a 1400 (2015). I traded my 1400 for a 2020 H2 SX SE+. They are similar in ride quality, but the SX does edge out the 1400 on ride quality and comfort by a small bit. Handling is another matter. In tight twisting roads (talking like 45mph curves not 145 ones) the SX feels much lighter than the 1400 and more nimble. Neither can compete with a ZX10 or a ZX6R, but the 1400 is like driving a refrigerator compared to the real sport bikes. The SX is somewhere in between.
Power wise, we have tried several scenarios all with the 1400 winning each time. The only win the SX has gotten is a lower speed roll from like 20-100 or a standing start to about 100...... after 100, the 1400 just starts to walk away.
If Kawasaki hadn't cancelled the 1400 and kept it updated, I'd have traded for a brand new one. The electronics on the SX SE+ is far, far superior in every way. Heated grips...... on a 35*F day long ride you will wonder why you don't have them once you do ! Same with cruise control! Suspension that adjusts from the dash is another +, as is the nice display and rider modes.
I loved my 1400, and still ride my son's once in a while, but the snappiness of the SX just brings a smile to my face each and every time. We switch riding all the time, and my son says the same thing, but he doesn't think the SX is worth the money they get for it compared to a new 1400. He might be right, but you only live once!
Sorry for the wall of text. Happy riding, and thanks for the video!

There's several things you can do to improve the 14R when it comes to cornering ... raise the forks, cut some weight (i.e. get a lightweight full exhaust, remove the center stand if your model has one, change to a lithium battery), switch to a 190/55 rear tire, get some decent sintered metal brake pads, etc. I did all those and the bike quickened up. Not quite as quick as my 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, but close enough. Certainly not like "driving a refrigerator".

I have had 3 ZX14’s 2009 -2014- then 2016 . The H2 SX SE is much easier to get more power with little mods. A exhaust and a reflash from Brock’s and you have 235HP . The ZX14R flash and exhaust 210hp. Ricky Gadson G62 supercharger impeller kit and your in the 260hp club. I think the H2 SX has a more natural sitting position as the 14R is leaning forward gets painful after a while.

Great video! Beautiful shots of you riding thru town and back roads!
I went all in back in may and bought a 2012 zx14r. (SE model). It was completely stock and in near showroom condition. Pretty amazing to ride! That first 50 miles was an eye opener! People keep telling me I'm riding like an old lady but it can get you in trouble quick.
My only complaint would be weight and seat height. But I'm a very tired 59 yo now. And a bit vertically challenged. This may be addressed this winter with a full exhaust and lowering kit.
I took it overnight a few weeks back and put about 450 miles on it. Was really fun. Now it's just a matter of getting time and energy to ride. The ninja turns 40 in 2024! I had a 900 in 84. That was a blast back then. I also have a 92 zx11. I took 25 years off from riding but when I came back it was gonna be a Ninja! When you have a big Ninja,. Sometimes you just sit on a stool and look at it. The 14r is motorcycle art. Thanks for the great video and making my morning!!

Own a zx14r and a concours 14, definitely two different riding styles and power to weight ratios , torque is definitely higher since the zx14 had the engine up graded . But both are fast and fun for their own reasons , keep the shiny side up

I own a 2022 ZX14r and a 2022 Hayabusa. The ZX14r is more powerful and more comfortable. I just ordered some 1 inch lowering pegs to make the Hayabusa more comfortable. The Hayabusa has quick shifter and cruise control which are awesome. Oil changes on the ZX14r are easier than the Hayabusa no need to remove plastics. The ZX14r is my favorite of the two to ride! This Gen 3 Hayabusa does have the edge on styling but the ZX14r is very close. I'm glad I own both but if I had to keep one over the other would be the ZX14r.

Last week ive dragracing my zzr against my friends ZH2. Most people tell ZH2 accelerates quicker then the ZZR, even the Kawasaki dealer tells. In reality my ZZR was pulling out on the ZH2 at higher speeds. We were both in a very big surprise. ZZR still incredibly fast, especially for its age. I think dealers just want to sell more ZH2's 😅

      @fiestjeuh1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@madrat5176 i live close to the german autobahn and for me its fun that my bike almost feels it has infinitive acceleration. Where the ZH2 stops accelerating, my ZZR is only at the end of its 4th gear. It keeps on pulling to its limiter in 6th gear at around 320 kmh. Its much taller geared and because of that the ZH2 feels faster but reality showes differently. ZH2 feels also much less stable under full acceleration in my opinion (even my friends opinion). ZH2 feels better for riding at slow speed in traffic

    • @madrat5176
      @madrat5176 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@fiestjeuh1 I agree there’s a bit of perception here. The ZH2 “feels” faster than my friend’s Streetfighter V4 up to 100, although the Streetfighter is faster in a race. It’s again because there’s instant torque and power right off the line with the ZH2. I just want to have fun out there and the ZH2 is the most fun I’ve had on a bike and I’ve been riding over 30 years. I don’t really go to the track anymore, so my world is basically 0 to 125mph. I’m not doing 150+ on the highway (I don’t need to get arrested 😂).

Same color green as the one your riding except mine has the green flames. According to Wikipedia it’s the fastest bike in the 1/4 mile. It has a longer wheelbase and more weight to launch it faster without looping out than a H2R. That H2R is a beast top end but also illegal to ride on the streets.

This bike is a lifelong dream and I’m looking to purchase one, which brings me to a few questions for you.
1 • Should I look into buying a used one just like yours 2016 model, or a brand new one here in USA 2022 model.
2 • Are there any compromises on the newer model vs your 2016?
Hopefully you can get back to me on this.
In advance, thank you for your time and your amazing videos.

    • @GoblinRides
      @GoblinRides  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey, thank you for your kind words 😊 your first question is a tough one as we can't buy the ZX14 from new anymore in Europe, the 2021 model was the last for us here. So part of me would encourage you to buy the 2022 model whilst you can. BUT you really can't go wrong with any model year from 2012 onwards, as long as they've been looked after and serviced regularly of course. You should be able to find yourself a cracking deal on the used market with low mileage too. If finance is no object, and you like the 2022 paint, go for it, but don't be afraid to look used if it's a stretch buying new. As for your second question, as far as I'm aware, there aren't any differences between the models since 2012, just the paint work 🙂 Tag us on Instagram when you buy yours, would love to see it: @goblinrides
      Thanks again 👍

I’m sorry for not addressing you by your name, I know I’ve heard it in your videos but it just escapes me right now.
So dear Goblin, I really appreciate that you actually took the time to reply to me in as much detail as you did, thanks 1441 times!
I have another question for you.
I am 54 and so that means that I am a level headed bloke, I say this because of my level of experience with motorcycles.
I have had 3 in my lifetime.
      1st a Honda Cross 125 CC
(Rode that one for a couple of years in my late teens, even took a 300 mile road trip with it, it was grand)
2nd was a Honda Nighthawk 450 CC, rode that for about a year, adored it.
3rd was a Honda Hurricane 1000 CC, rode that one for a couple of years.
On all three never had an accident, not even ever dropped any of them, I considered myself a good solid rider.
The 450 Nighthawk had it in my early 20’s
The Hurricane 1000 in my late 20’s
But since those days, I haven’t owned a motorcycle.
I know I still have it because on occasion I have ridden on a few big motorcycles without any hesitation whatsoever.
      My question is.
I want the Kawasaki ZZR 1400 desperately, but it’s been a long time since I owned a big bike.
I have a knack for driving and even flying airplanes and helicopters, that’s to say, I’m one of those guys that can really control vehicles well.
Should I refrain from getting this Ninja or do you think a guy with my background can still handle the beast.
I know going in what this magnificent motorcycle entails and means, I know the thunderous power it has and how it can bite if I’m not careful, I don’t want it to go fast, I want it because I love everything about it, the way it looks, the way it handles and the power in reserve always available if needed.
I want it to do exactly what you do with yours, I want to tour small little towns and country roads and just enjoy life at its fullest with it, that’s my approach.
      What do you think?
      Get or not get.
I ADORE IT, it is an obsession at this point.
Thanks in advance for your time dear friend.

You are sitting more in un upright position on the GTR14 and less pressure on the wrist. I have more fun on the ZX14 and it holds the line in a curve better. I have rode the GTR14 with Hayabusa's, Yamaha R1' etc. and trust me, it can keep up. The GTR14 begins to slow down after 130 on track but that dawg on ZX14, whooo, it just keeps on pulling strong "on track", as I won't admit to street speeds.

I find the new hysbusa is stable, especially in the wind. When I had the ninja 636, I was blown across three lanes on the highways, and it scared the heck out of me.
I would think the ZX14r is the same class as the abusawhen it comes to big bike road stability under potholes, wind, etc.
People don't look at the road stability of the Hyabusa and ZX14r. All I hear is people talking about how fast the bike can go. You will never be able to release the power of most sport bikes on the highways and streets. It's not just because speeding is illegal. Some nut job driver will move into your lane and cut you off while you're speeding just because they feel like it. When the rider gets killed, they will say it was an accident.
