      Honestly I see about $1500-$2k in damage. If he can repair the radiator and maybe replace the one exhaust can and sand and polish the bad one, he could save some cash. Plastics are cheap these days, you can find a hose thats similar at your local AutoZone. I just rebuilt a Suzuki TL1000R that had a fire. I built my own harness, replaced the fuel pump from it shorting out and did some other small stuff. I have less than $1k in the bike total. Just takes expertise and know how my friends.

    Don’t ride it with those tires, they are probably damaged from the accident and won’t ride right. Michelin Road 5’s are magical on my busa so would prob be perfect on your new large sport tourer. Also go to fuelmoto.com I recently got a power commander and you just tell them what mods you have on your bike. In your instance it will be bmc air filter (of course you plan on changing the air filter) and Akrapovic full exhaust? And they tune it for you per your specific mods before they ship it. Cheapest price possible and worked great for me, woke my bike up for sure. Also royal purple max cycle, expensive but shifts like butter! Sorry for the novel just so much shit I’ve learned. Nothing better than the big sport tourers. Not much can contend but they could definitely use another 30-40hp to hang with today’s machines.

    I just bought a 2012 zx14r on Father's Day and it was missing the right side fairing. I bought a whole new complete fairings set for it and flushed the radiator coolant twice with distilled water and put new "Engine Ice" coolant in the replace of it. It runs a whole lot cooler and it doesn't take long after riding for the day for the engine to cool back down. It comes in half gallons, so it only takes or holds a whole half a gallon and a half so order or buy two half gallons if you decide to use the product which will be a great advice tip for the zx14r you have.

    Kudos to you my friend for just jumping in. This is another investment into your collective know how and skill set. That being said it is wise to heed the advice of others who are wanting you to look a little deeper before starting to spend some coin. I just completed a complete tear down and rebuild of 2010 ZX14. I bought for $1700. Prior owner had dropped it at slow speed onto its right side with similar damage to the one you have. The front forks were not bent and my thinking was similar to yours fix it and ride it. However one key issue with a ZX14 is how the frames are constructed. The frame is formed aluminum sections welded together. It is a monocoque upper which doubles as air intake plenum. Bottom line...my frame was cracked in at least 5 places due to thin aluminum upper. Went to frame guy and confirmed my fears. Not repairable. Had to replace frame. So tear it down so you can clearly inspect frame all around. Now she’s good as new and I went a little overboard. But I’ll tell you this, she never fails to put a big grin on my face while laughing in my helmet! Good luck! I’ll be following. Feel free to reach out

    What you can do with the pipes is wrap it with a carbon fibre wrap
    I did it once with an 04 ZX10R that got knocked over
    Love the 14, I would describe it as a Honda Blackbird with 200bhp
    If I was you I would an upright bar conversion, cost about $200 for parts and you will have the ultimate tourer
    Also that exhaust came from the factory so bikes setup for it

  • @bacchusthompson5834
    @bacchusthompson5834 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not bad at all... For the exhaust, he can get replacement end caps & canister skins for cheap. Plastics are cheap as hell these days (fractions of the cost of OEM Fairings). Entire upgraded coolant hose kits are like pennies. Used Radiator and he has a major profit if he decides to sell.

    Maybe you can paint the cans or powder coat them the front fender can be painted just looks like some scratches

    Can you make more videos as you make progress with your bike?

  • @nononsenseBennett
    @nononsenseBennett 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pretty sure you can get a key from a Kawasaki dealer using the VIN. Fixing the plastic damage is easy using plastic bumper repair kit.

    I think you can replace carbon parts on akrapovic and polish the can. great build Iooking forward on more videos.

    It won’t fix your whole exhaust I know but I think you can get new carbon end cap for the exhaust

    why cheater bike? Then Hayabusa was cheater as well for making a bigger bike than zx12r and the SuperBlackbird

    • @danlewis3185
      @danlewis3185 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer Suzuki. But every bike in the race of top speed was a cheater bike on the bike before it. Hayabusa included.

    • @ras4782
      @ras4782 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the zx12r still got down on it

    • @RestlessFisher
      @RestlessFisher 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess the logic here is that the only way the manufacturers would win this speed war was going bigger and bigger, sacrificing rideability for speed and aerodynamics, you can still throw down a Hayabusa on a twisty road, but this ZX-14R is a anchor because of that heavy engine.
      So in conclusion it's "cheating' because its less of a sportbike and more of a top speed oriented sport tourer.

    The aero design of the mirrors tells everything about this beast.
    You should keep them and install a tail tidy instead.

    Don’t waste time welding the radiator if you’re going to replace it anyway.
    If it’s because you want to start it up for 10 seconds then do it without any coolant in it - it won’t make a difference what so ever.

    You can buy individual parts for Akra systems. A good parts guy should be able to find a part number for the sleeves for the cans and the carbon tips. Personally I’d take the whole system out and clean/polish it, those headers look like garbage but will polish up beautiful.

    You can go ahead and count on having to replace the fuel pump and filter and pressure regulator and then clean out the entire fuel system also. If there’s old fuel in the lines at all and you try to start then you can easily foul the iridium plugs and they’re a massive bitch to change, ask me how I know.... Quantum pump kits off eBay or amazon work well

    Dont think because it says 180mph you will do that I had one and the most I could get out of it was 160 mph and had to shut down before the air pressure was going to blow me off the bike ? You need a different windscreen and that is a hair raising ride above 160 that was enough

    I had the same bike and color I paid $1500 for it, mine had a clean title too, bike wouldn't start, had to replace battery and relay and a Main fuse. Previous owner must of blew something out trying to jump start it.. I bought it not running thinking engine was bad. I got lucky tho. Nice find by the way, Check out my GSXR 1100 on my channel 👍
