My biggest thing is it’s a lot of work and money. You’re literally maintaining a fleet. I know, I’ve got 4 myself. 2 cruisers, a classic UJM, and a modern naked

yeah, but if they see little use, little will break and they won't need much maintenance. It's a sum of all bikes maintenance which is related to usage.

Bring us in the journey of repairs. If your doing the repairs anyway, you get to upload a video and your are teaching everyday people how to repair and maintain. I really enjoy this series personally.
You then get to record the first ride.
    Keep up the good work.

It terms of the channel, I would sell the ZX14 and either the 954 or the RC51. Personally I think the 954 just because the RC will hold its value better and because of how clean it is.

Hello from UK. This video struck a chord with me, I have - several times - owned multiple bikes ... up to 6 new/ near new at one point ! All the comments you make are bang on. The reality of having too many bikes is exactly as you say. Its the financial cost when you start adding everything up and then the big problem.... not having the time to enjoy using them all regularly. And then you start thinking about where you could use the money more wisely... I think multi bike ownership is probably better if you have lots of free time to actually ride the collection. The other mistake is owning very similar machines which I am guilty. Better to have bikes that are quite different if you have several in a collection. I am down to 3 now but I want to get down to just 2 machines. Good luck with the 954, one of my six collection was a brand new one in 2004. Lovely bike, totally practical for road use, great memories. Always a risk buying used machines that people have messed with, always good to take a mate along to view, 2 pairs of eyes are better at catching stuff than 1 !!

I had 6 at one point, and then reduced down to three - sports bike, naked bike and an adventure bike. This combination was awesome, because I had every option I wanted.
Unfortunately due to work I had to sell all three and I now just have one sportsbike. But being a 2021 S1000RR I can't complain. And having one bike is much simpler.

I currently have four. My rule is no two of the same engine configuration, category/type of motorcycle, or manufacturer. I ride each one day a week and use Mondays and the weekend to switch them up. Maintenance, insurance, and registration fees are all real things. You really have to prioritize riding over other things to make it worth the time and effort that goes into owning a fleet.
Your quote about stuff was spot on.

This is definitely true, thin the heard. Been there with muscle/racecars, trucks, sport 4 wheelers, jet skies. I used to have my own fleet of classic Japanese motorcycles (5) but you tend to find that you only ride a couple of them during the biking season. I am based in the U.K. and never ride any of my classic bikes in the winter. The bikes that don’t get ridden regularly can suffer from seized or sticking brake callipers an issues with carburettor floats etc. I am in the process of selling off my classics and using the money to purchase one modern bike, most probably a Honda Goldwing DCT. The only bike I will keep is my immaculate 2001 Honda C90 cub. The bike has only covered a few hundred miles from new and has pride of place in my front room, as the garage is far to uncivilised for my little Honda!

    You're so right man!
I used to have 7 and now I'm down to 5 but it's still too many and too much cost.
People absolutely have to consider all things go with bikes, such as tyres, chain and sprockets, brakes, oil/ filters, tax, insurance etc.
As you said, there's one favorite that puts the most smile on your face and you ride the most, that should stay , the rest is just a dust collector and money burner.
IMO the best setup is 2 bikes max.
That way both can be ridden frequently and both can recieve full attention and services.

Brother, I've been where you are, and have bought and sold more than I can accurately recall. I'm down to a 2003 modded Honda Blackbird with OEM euro spec panniers, a modded 2002 RC-51 and a modded 2009 Ruckus with a big carb kit. The Blackbird with luggage fills every possible need for speed and practicality (3 Iron Butt rides so far). The SP2 is for all things loud, amazing and impractical. The Ruckus gets the most use around the property or for light cargo errands. As much as I want more motorcycles, this setup fills all of the practical needs.

I have 2 , a nc700 commuter bike and a versys 1000 for fun and 2 up traveling... Both make atleast 10000km/year. I think 3 bikes is probably the sweet spot if you can afford it... One cheap and reliable for commuting and daily driving. One for 2 up touring (or long distance touring solo). And one sporty machine (or an off-road machine) for getting the adrenaline flowing and a weekend blast.

Can’t put an old head on young shoulders. I’ve done the multiple bike thing. Having two belt driven Ducati’s, one of which had numerous reliability issues. In the end I chucked in big bikes and bought a little single, 150Kg with 40bhp and some off road potential. There is never the feeling of having to ride to justify it, because it was cheap and maintenance, insurance and tax are tiny. I don’t ride the fast roads anymore because it barely gets past 65mph and the upside is that I no longer worry about speed cameras and police. I no longer feel the need to chase other riders because I don’t have the power to do it. It’s far more relaxing to own a bike just for the odd ride out and I’m finding I ride more frequently, but shorter distances and less travelled back roads. I even take it up the odd gravel track. No stress at all.

I understand your reasons.. I have a Honda Fireblade, Kawasaki ZX12R, Suzuki GSXR750 SRAD & Aprilia RSV Factory.. Cost is a big part, so I only run, insure 2 each year, then I rotate them. This year I have been riding the GSXR750 SRAD & Aprilia RSV. I like the contrast between the big v twin and 4 cylinder.. I do feel sometimes overwhelmed by having 4.. it’s like I can’t give my whole focus and desire on 4 bikes.. whereas if I only had 1 or 2, psychologically I would be better.. if that makes sense?

It was great for a while, but eventually when I found free time to ride on a nice day, I couldn’t decide which bike I felt like riding, and as time passed, I ended up not riding at all that day. I had many days like that on a nice summer day…no riding. That was a crossroads moment for me, I decided I was going to sell both bikes and get one premium bike to enjoy, maintain and insure. I traded the Harley in for a KTM Super Duke R, a bike that checks a lot of boxes for me. I’ll sell the 954 in the spring.

As i sit in the same boat with you i can only envy that in your life there is something or someone that makes you grin from ear to ear more than your collection of fun machines. I find that no matter the weather I'm always in a better place when I'm with my motorcycles. I don't mind at all looking at them changing the line up to my own preferences. Ck tire pressure and fuel levels. Decide paint scheme and decal positions. I guess what I'm trying to say is the goal is real ans obtainable. I arrived there by pure luck of the available deals.
I was once a single bike owner but couldn't find the passion in that one bike. To be honest i sold that bike in a huge drama and then found a 500 mile klr in my lap then showing it to others i soon owned a '77 KZ 650 and that was the real beginning. They are such different rides there're uncomparable rides. The klr is tall and light the KZ is rev happy and like a sofa to ride...then a V65 had to be gotten rid of and suddenly i owned a rocket chopper that is fast af! Not only is it rev happy in a big was it has a wicked power curve that pulls XXX harder the faster all the way to 10 grand. ..then a Triumph 955i had to be bought. Sexiest bike i own....then a WR....the sega continues my dude 😄

Agree! I have gone up and down on number of bikes. You ride your favorite most of the time. I enjoy new bikes as a good 4 years before things start to wear out. Most shops will give you a loaner while working on your bike. Warranties are nice. I own a Super Duke, MV AGusta Dragster 800rr, and a Grom. After 30 bikes, triples and V2’s are unique. Truthfully they all do the same them when you twist the throttle. Before the above bikes, I owned a Super Duke GT and Monster 1200. The Monster is beautiful to look at but the Super Duke was my favorite to ride.

I have a moded Super-Tourer Blackbird that I work on a lot(and my wife's 2019 CB1000R), plus a CL360 sitting in pieces in my workshop the entire year, still waiting for me to spend the time to get the motor running for the first time in literal decades. I've thought about a CB500x or a Rebell 1100; but I couldn't image the cost and stress of maintaining more.

One solution to your bikes being mostly in the garage is every time you go out for something choose a different bike.
Currently I have 2 bikes, but soon I will get one more and maybe in some more time another one. The idea is to have a supersport, naked, supermoto and a small track/street bike with track fairings and an extra pair of wheels with track tyres to change when needed or wanted, maybe it's all too much, but I don't care 🙂

I own two, 2014 VFR800 for road use, and 2018 Panigale 959 as the track bike. Definitely couldn’t deal with any more. I’m very picky with maintenance and upkeep and it would drive me crazy, and more broke.

I did have Kawasaki ZX1100, KLR650 and a Yamaha VStar 1100, and then recently bought 2019 Kawasaki Z900RS which I only ride now. I noticed I wasn't giving any time riding any of the others so I decided to sell them. I have not regrets selling them off.

I too have multiple bikes as my idea is to own every GSX-R that is 400cc and over and I have only one left to buy to complete the collection-the 1100 slingshot! Although the way I roll it, is to have a maximum of 3 at any one time and when I want to buy another bike i will simply sell one, job done.

I completely understand this! Between cars, go-karts and motorcycles I spend a lot of time fixing or taking care of something for one or the other... instead of using them like I should. I'm reducing now... sometimes less, really, is more.
I think you should reduce the herd as well... it will be interesting to see which will stay and which will go.

It’s your decision in the end but if you feel you want to focus your attention on other thing rather than repairs and losing money and having a social life then minimize your burden. I get you man. Bikes are fun and nice and it’s nice to say their yours but is the price worth it? Do what you enjoy mosey and that’s riding so, minimize. Stay safe and healthy inside your body 😉🤙🏼

Unfortunately or fortunately I don't have your problem. Probably that's the main reason I own a VFR. Sometimes is sport, other times tourer and most of the times a commuter. But I feel it could be a little sportier sometimes. I already went to Ducati and tried the Panigale V2, but for my kind of riding it's impractical. Anyway, if Honda doesn't bring a better VFR it's probably going to be my future path to follow.

I have 2 motorcycles. One is a 600cc V-twin, and the other is a 600cc inline 4. I usually ride both on Saturdays, about a half an hour each, one after the other. If one needs a new battery, I ride the other one for maybe 2 weeks, not too long because I start to miss one. I bought 1 new in 2002, and the other with only 500 miles by the first owner- he had to have a Hayabusa, a 600 is too wimpy only a 150 mph top speed (dumb).

It's easy to HAVE a bunch of bikes. The tough part is insurance, renewing tabs, having space, and maintenance. Lots of maintenance. Oh, and having several means they sit and don't get ridden enough and then you have MORE maintenance than if they got used more.

I ride a sportbike (Zx9r), a enduro (Klr 650) and from time to time my girlfriends naked bike (CB-1).
Each if these makes for a totally different riding experince, especially if you also ride a bit offroad with the enduro. Personally this makes much more sense to me than owning several bikes of the same categorie (sport/sporttouring).
But if i had the time, space and money i would probably have like 20 different bikes...
