    One of the best builds I’ve seen. Well done!

    Thank you for sharing Homer's build Rob. It has been amazing watching the build from the beginning. I really appreciate the way you discuss your reasoning and opinion around different choices. The coolest thing about modding a watch is that you make the watch completely your own - It is worth the work, frustration and cost :)

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cost can be debated that’s for sure. Value and reasoning can get tossed out when doing a full build. When a build comes together just the way you want, then it becomes “2nd kind of cool” (nutnfancy phrase). Once you get to that point then it doesn’t matter what others think. It’s your custom built watch.

    This is a fantastic job done in good taste! To Seiko themselves, a good slap in the face, showing them how much better they could do as a watchmaker. Hopefully Seiko wakes up and improve on their design details, manufacturing and finishing quality.

    I love the ability to go as simple or as crazy as you like, and the SKX is such an inherently great case/bezel design with such great proportions. Little wonder so many parts are available for it. I'm soon putting together a mildly upgraded Seiko 5 I couldn't buy otherwise, at any price.

    Hi Rob, The time you spend doing the mods is fine by me in the videos. The more detail the better, including all the problems and issues. Keep them coming.

    Super tempting. I'd be more tempted if you could fit a 6r movement in there. Also wouldn't starting with the aftermarket seiko case shave off $130 or so. Curious as to how the water resistance would end up.

    Hey Rob! I’ve looked up that dial size on that and it’s 28.2mm and that skx (skx013 specifically) series use a 28.5mm dial - do you notice and issues with using a smaller dial?

    That’s a really nice watch you created! Its helpful to get your opinion on the clear AR versus the blue AR. Very useful info to have as I’ve never heard anyone else comment on this topic. Nice work! Just curious as to how much time you’ve put into perfecting your hobby of modifying watches. Do you have a rough estimate as to the number of hours you’ve invested while learning this craft? Thanks for sharing. Great work on this ‘Mod’!

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea how much time I have invested in learning and practice. I don’t think it’s really a ton though. If I am in the mood and all goes smooth I can do a full build in like 30-60 mins? Never really timed myself.

  • @stevenwymor1398
    @stevenwymor1398 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    But Rob, the total lump sum cost only seems exorbitant if you do it all at once. It can be done in stages too. Not ideal, but that’s the way I like to do my mods because it gives you a chance to live with your changes. That way, you can decide if enough is or enough or if you’d rather keep going. I start with a big picture idea of what I think I’d like the finish watch to be and then I try to prioritize it. Makes more sense and is more economical that way. Would hate to drop $800 only to find you didn’t like what you had created.

    I would think the Murphy bezel would just be the default choice now, for ALL applicable bezel mods. Why would anybody want a single direction, with the Murphy out there? I'm assuming crystal limitations, maybe?? This is all kinda' new to me.
    Is the Murphy available in anything other than the coin edge?
