    I’ve just used this video to change the bezel ring in my old Seiko 7002, the principles the same except for a “pesky” rubber gasket! However just finished it and it looks fantastic, I will be doing my skx007 next, these videos are very well made and kind of relaxing! One day I’ll order something from you 👍🏼

  • @stevenwymor1398
    @stevenwymor1398 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Hey Eric, I find that soaking the bezel in mineral spirits for about 30 minutes softens the adhesive very nicely and the insert will just come off with a small amount of finger pressure. Leaves the original insert in pristine condition and eliminates the chance of deforming it with a screwdriver. Mineral spirits has virtually no odor as well and has a very slow evaporation rate. I do recommend removing the bezel gasket first though and re-lubing before installation.

    The bezel insert looks like it’s of a good quality.
    I purchased a skx007 many moons ago with the green bezel insert and it popped off after a few days and realised there were little or no contact surface and the insert was very thin almost foil like.

    First off I just want to say thank you for this amazing tutorial. I followed everything and it worked out great. One question, after installing my aftermarket sloped ceramic bezel insert with contact cement and letting it dry over night. Looked great but I noticed along the outer edge of the bezel (rim facing the crystal) one side was raised slightly higher than the other. Is this cause I applied the glue unevenly? Or the bezel insert itself was uneven. Have you encountered this before? Thank you so much.

    • @LumeShot
      @LumeShot  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words! Glad it worked out for you. Possibly the bezel insert itself was uneven or the underside of the bezel insert / exposed side of the bezel had some adhesive from the previous insert that caused it to raise up a little.

    My bezel insert was very difficult to remove without heat and I was using quite a bit of force to the point that I was concerned of bending the actual bezel. I used my heat gun (paint stripper gun) on low setting and the adhesive melted and it came away with no pressure at all. Great video as always. Thanks.

    I bought a coin edge bezel from namokimods, for my srp777 but after mounting it on (i had to press with my body weight) the bezel action is so stiff i'm afraid i'm gonna break the spring bars . I then used some ballistol for lubrication and it's a bit better but is still very hard to turn.
    I emailed namokimods and they told me to take it out and inspect the gasket , the o-ring, but i didn't wanna risk scratching my watch or ruin the bezel doing that. The bezel looks great but i can't stand the fact that it doesn't work like it should.
    what do you guys suggest? did you have similar experience ?
    P.S. I took the bezel out twice, eventually, and the gasket looks good but the bezel action is still terible !
