oh the memories! I built my first car. It was a Myers-Manx dunebuggy kit built on a wrecked 63 VW beetle. I cant remember the name but there was a catalog that all kinds of VW performance parts. I enetually added a stroker kit, a 2 liter big bore kit, a hot cam from Isky, A intake/ exhaust kit and Judson super charger. i never had a chance to get it on a dyno but it would lift the front wheels about a foot at a rolling start and twice that from a standstill. had a ton of fun with that car

This was back in the late 60s or early 70's can't remember I've gotton old. The trick was to thread the guides install a bolt then drive against the bolt. Worked better if you heated the head. Enjoyed your video on the Volkswagen .😊😊😊

God is all of that racquet coming from the rockers? And what kind if cam gear are you running ? Straight cut? Good job on the build n nice catch on the carb. Great looking motor. Sounds way better second time around.
How do you set up your initial timing? Looks like you move the dizzy quite a bit to get it to fire off at first. What about jetting out the gate? what are looking for with head temps at with cam break in,..guessing about 2500rpm. Sounds very nice, crisp and snappy, love the way the motor calms down,..like taming a wild horse.
@@volkstroke Thanks,..appreciate the posts. We can all use a bit of knowledgable help and you have it pretty well figured...maybe see you at the track.
You should be making more HP than that. 10.5 compression . 1:6 rockers by empi, Heads were brutally polished and ported. Weber 48 IDA's with f7 emulsion tubes on the tall match ported manifolds.. infact, we welded thez back side gap to allow for more porting. Added 1 oz per gallon of Xylene, 2oz per gallon lacalene to racing gasoline. Final octane rating was un obtainable as it dissolved the container before the officials could analyze it. We guess it was around 130 Ronz number. Baylands raceway, Fremont, ca. We got 235 HP from a 2180
The heads aren’t that big it’s on 1.4 And only .550 at the valve advanced and peak HP is not that high in RPM so I actually think it’s perfect for what it is. And idk about all that funny business with the fuel I just build to run on 91
If I were to provide a length would you guys be able to cut/press together a set of push rods for me? Or possibly post a vid of how you made that threaded tool to press the ends on? 😁
I love these engine build videos. Roughly what does a complete engine like this go for minus exhaust? What transmission mods need to be done if any for a street car to be somewhat reliable? Thanks
