I know this review is quite old now, but hopefully this comment will help prospective buyers. I'm happy to report that it appears they fixed the file. I just picked up a new Powerpint yesterday, and the file is MUCH more aggressive than it was. I'd even go as far to say that the file aggressiveness is close to the file on the Rebar, and the file pattern now goes all they way to the tip instead of stopping short. The dedicated bottle and can open are still, unfortunately, unchanged, so if you plan to pick one up it's still worth it to file the openers down and make them into drivers as well. However, with the improved file this multitool is a lot more compelling.
That explains it! I recently received mine and watching all the reviewers say the file is not aggressive had me confused because mine is pretty damn aggressive. Being used to Victorinox scissors though, the scissors on the Powerpint are unusable garbage though. That's my only complaint.
Was just looking how to look up how the locking works. Rather watch a video than start looking. Getting lazy I think. But came to the file part while mine was open. Yup, very very good file in my book, better than a lot of other multitools I have. Tempting to buy a second one just to throw in the other bag. Cheap if you know where to look.
Love it! Great review of the SOG PowerPint. I gave my wife the Gerber Dime for her pocket/keychain and she never leaves home without it. If anyone is debating on what tools to start with? Start small, this SOG PowerPint or Gerber Dime is perfect for beginners. Once you get into EDC you’re going to be surprised by how useful these little tools can be. My wife was thanking me every day for a week because she realized that anytime something needed cut, or tightened etc. she had a tool to do it right in her pocket.

I love this tool for etc. I filed down the end of the file to make add a large flathead screwdriver / scrapper tool. I also cut and filed down the bottle opener tip to add a medium flathead. Finally, I slimmed down the shank of the philliips screwdriver so that it can reach more recessed screws. This modified tool, along with my Victorinox compact makes for a very slim and each to carry edc combo that is very usable.
Great video. I have many multitools, but this is really the only size I carry consistently. Always loved the S2 and carried it many years, but I have finally lost or broken all of mine. So far this is a great replacement, and this was the perfect review even 4 years later. Appreciate your thoughts - these vids are totally on-par and contain lots of great info!
Agree with you! I have a leatherman wave for tough work,but a PowerPoint for edc.There is almost no other multitool in this size and price can compete with sog PowerPoint.

I think you hit the nail on the head. That is actually my goal. To relay information as I see it, more as a conversation, than to force my opinion on you. Everyone has different needs. What works for me may not work for you. I hate that people will ridicule others for the decisions they make for themselves. Only you can decide what your best fit is.
Great review, as always. My multi tool collection has grown as a result of your channel. My wife asks, how many does one person need, I say, one to use and the others to collect.
Got mine a little over a week ago. I absolutely love it. I have owned the leatherman wave+ and the surge, it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a whole tool box in my pocket. it's amazing how light it is. It's the perfect size for my hands as I am pretty petite. The only down side is that yes it does not have a standard #2 Phillip's but the 1/4 magnetic bit driver is a plus. Also the can opener and the scissors can be sharper... other than those a great EDC so far👌
I got this tool when it first came out and when I did my review I was just room temp on it as a whole. Then I started using it and I find it to be so useful. It has almost replaced my larger tools. For sure it is the one I carry when I am not at work. It's so light and when you reverse the grip the pliers can take on way bigger jobs. Sure the file and the scissors are not that great but they do work in a pinch. The fine point on the pliers is just awesome for so many things. I use it to unseat old stiff cat5 connections from the back of servers. Perfect tool for that. I will admit I also like the PowerAssist and the Powerlock. I carry those over Leatherman tools myself. So maybe I am biased who knows. My current EDC is the new Ozark Trail Muti and it has been surprising the hell out of me. When it comes to the most important tool in a multitool the pliers. SOG IMO just has it going on. I am also a big fan of the SOG V-Cut. That thing is just awesome for cutting tight zip ties. My co workers will struggle like 10 min trying to cut these industrial zip ties that hold cabling together and I just walk up and zip! Done!
I think you convinced me to add this to my collection. I was disappointed that they didn't include a dedicated flat head driver but I think I'll grind down the end of the file to make one and maybe the end of the can opener for a smaller size. It really is a cool multitool. Thanks for the great video. I always appreciated how deep you look into the tools and your prospective.
Yeah Ben --my Daughter gave me a Powerpint last Christmas and I really think you gave a fair assessment of this neat little multitool...the size and functionality work well for me especially when I'm toting my firearm,a folding knife, flashlight and various other EDC items . Thanks for doing such detailed reviews of multitools...really enjoy them ...
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. I really like this multi tool a lot. I like the small frame size. I think it offers great capability for it’s frame size. There isn’t a dedicated #2 Phillips, but that is easily fixed by carrying a separate bit. Pocket clip is also a big plus in my book.
Your video lives on. I like your positive counterpoints to the average review of this tool. I wonder if many of them only perceived quality without really trying the tool out. I think you nailed the review in a comprehensive way. I also like that I can use the ratchet tool from Leatherman to extend the functionality of the driver. This really negates the need for a Gerber driver. The Juice S2 is no longer available or I would have one. But in many ways this tool is better.
This tool is my favorite pocket MT but it's frustratingly flawed. It needs medium and small slotted screwdrivers so I ground those into the can and bottle openers. If only the hatching on the file were more aggressive, the phillips was a 1.5 and the serrated blade was a saw. I love the awl, serviceable scissors, eyeglass screwdriver, pocket clip, compound leverage and very light weight.
As a staunch Leatherman guy, I must admit that I've a soft spot for SOG. Many is the time that I (almost) pulled the pin on a Black Oxide Power Lock. However after seeing this review, should I invest money in a SOG, it would most likely be this one. Good Job Ben.
Now, I know this is late and I agree with you that I wouldn't trust the protractor there enough to consider it a feature but, it does have the 90 and 45 degree marks. Just on the other side.
Great review as usual. I own a Powerpint, and I have to say it is a great concept, poorly executed. The pliers are great. The size is perfect, small enough to be pocket friendly but with plenty of tools. The quality leaves something to be desired. The tools had some play, so I tightened the screws to fix it. There is no Philips number 2, They should make the tip of the rope cutting tool into one. There is also no larger flat driver, The tip of the bottle opener should be one. I used the Dremel on mine to make it a pour man's 2D phillips / flat. I have a hard time closing the scissors. Some of the inner tools are so hard to get to. A decent steel for the blades would be nice. I wish that the serrations should go all the way to the tip of the blade, so that the first serration could be used as package opener. They should use a better fle, or get rid of it and the serrated blade to make the tool thinner. I would pay double the money for a Powerpint 2.0 with those problems solved. Or better yet a Victorinox or Leatherman in this class.
@@txtoolcrib I wish a multitool manufacturer would make a modular design so you could order the tools you need on the frame size you choose, like a pick & mix. As with this PowerPint, I would choose a saw instead of a serrated blade, and replace the push style can opener with a eagle claw style that could double as a cap lifter. Replace the cap lifter with a scraper. I would replace my Juice CS4 in a second.
A very good review of this seemingly capable little tool. I would replace the serrated blade with a good wood saw. Ditch both the cap lifter and can opener in favor of some good flat drivers. I'm with you on the scissors....a little larger opening and a wider thumb pad. A good aggressive wood file backed by a diamond file. Now, a really really good small edc tool.
@@cupajoe7258 No doubt about that! I don't like cases, so I use the pocket clips to clip the tool to my belt. Is the clip on the powerpint big enough for a 1.5 inch belt? Sure wouldn't want it to fall off my belt.
I own a Leatherman Wingman, and a Gerber dime. The Wingman is a bit too heavy and bulky to EDC and the Dime is a bit too small and light on functionality. The Powerpint seems like a happy medium. It's probably not the best for some heavier duty work, but that's what my toolboxes are for.
Good reviews as always. I would love if you'd do a collective SOG Power series comparison, leatherman too and Gerber as separate videos per brand. I want to see size vs price vs functionality. And a bonus would be which tool would suit who or what situation. Just throwing out my opinion
They blew it with the #1 only Phillips. And wasting space on a separate bottle cap lifter and can opener is really ridiculous. Make that a combo and add a #2 and it would be a home run.
I agree. They should tweak the design as you stated. I've always felt that ALL multitool designers are missing an opportunity. They should look at making the can opener also an bottle opener and a clamshell package opener by sharpening the blade all the way down into circular portion just above where the hook grabs the edge of the can. (Sharpened the same way as a gut hook.) I suppose you could modify the can opener by sharpening it yourself. But, it would be nice to just have that one tool do at least three things. Thereby leaving room for more useful tools on the other spaces provided. I think packing along separate bit bit drivers kind of ruins the all in one convenience that a "multi tool" is supposed to provide.
Got this as Xmas present from Girlfriends brother. He saw me use my wave to cut open a bag of charcoal and use the pliers to lift the hot BBQ cooking grate. I guess he thought I need another one. I love multi tools. (maybe not as much as you) I found this tool to be kinda difficult to access all the other tools other than the pliers. The grips as well seemed a bit rough on the hands when squeezing tight. It makes a good back up, if I lose my Wave or Super Tool 300. Love all your vids Sir!
I really liked mine I bought the blacked-out version from Amazon I just had to make an exchange for a new one cuz I barely use the small flat-head screwdriver and the tip broke otherwise I really like it and I'll just have to be even more extremely careful
I have the cork screw model, When it comes to the 1/4 Inch hex adapter, Mine has a lock lever at the opposite end of the tool, To add some more hold power and your hand won't get tired holding the handles tight. It's jimped, so just rub your finger over the handle end like a Bic lighter striker wheel,,, If you have it, it should just pop out.... I think this is the gripper feature mentioned,,,
Another reviewer pointed out if you have a tool locked and you begin to open another too even with the unit itself closed, it will unlock the tool that's locked.
I am on the fence between the SOG Power Pint and the Leatherman Skeletor CX The SOG Has more capability but the Leatherman has what ya need 95% of the time......I think SOGs design and metal is more suited to a Marine Environment gonna go SOG on this one, I also have The Wave + and from back in my USN Deep Sea Diving Days (30 yrs) of course the Gerber 600, I really appreciate your videos, I like to know details and functionality and you deliver that, thanks. I like mine a lot. Would prefer spring loaded pliers, a slightly larger combo phillips head, scissors that opened a little more(as Ben alluded to) and a little bit of belly on the knife blade. But this little beast carries a whole lot of functionality.
I didn't read all the comments, so this may have been mentioned. You don't have to open the pliers up to unlock the tools. If you lift one of the tools next to the one you're using, it unlocks it.
one of the most beautifull multitools, right after Gerber Dime. I am jumping to this from gerber dime. I so wish that pliers would be spring loaded, i loave all spring loaded stuff, but i can live without it in this case.
this is perfect, i don't have my multitool instead of my kitted out toolbox, but for on the go. if something on my mountainbike breaks 20 miles from nowhere in the backcountry and then i don't fu***ng care it i have to open my multitool to unlock the knife🤣 its currently the best multitool on the market in this size and i love mine. that said, its not heavy duty so if i plan on repairing something in the field ill take a wave or surge with me, i use the powerpint more as a get-out-of-jail-free card, just in case something breaks
You can close the locked tool without opening the tool itself. All you need to do is open one of the tools on the same side a third of the way, and the locked tool will unlock.
I was very excited to see this in person back in 2018 at shotshow, I thought this would be the Juice killer, however It is a fine example of everything looks great on paper but fell short in practice. I like its pliers, I like the overall design, but there are things I could not overlook. The tool is uncomfortable to use, just way too many hotspots all over. Most (if not all) the internal tools don't works as well as Leatherman or Victorinox's counterpart. SOG can opener never work in my hands, I call them "Can't Opener". Lack of flathead and #2 Philips drivers are serious shortcoming. The ability to use bit is a moot point, I have no intension to carry extra bits with a small size MT. It is disappointing. So close yet so far.
I hear you. I kind of look past some of the things you mentioned because it is such a small tool. I think what they put in this one is so jam packed, they really couldn’t fit anything else.
I keep that tool in my pocket pretty much every day at work. It is very well made small tool. I have a Gerber center drive and 600 also but I don't carry them a lot because they take up so space and weight. I agree the ruler and protractor are pointless. I do not like the pocket clip. It makes the tool open in my pocket. They need to find a way to mount it the other way. Also I don't like the bit driver. But I like the tool overall and use it all the time.
They should make the lanyard thing able to rotate over and hook the other side shut for using the driver. The scissor's action handle could easily be widened to overlap the spine side without interfering with anything. The file ought to have a tool in the tip, if that odd shape isn't meant to do something...Seems like several of the tools should be combined such as the bottle/can opener, and the blade could just have a serrated base. Then more and better tools could be included. If the handle can open to 180 degrees, why wouldn't the ruler be on the outside instead of being interrupted by the pliers? The locking mechanism requiring a full opening is a bit of a pain and ought to just have a release on the sides of the body that can be easily squeezed. Having multiple bits open at the same time is probably just a tolerance issue.
Great review! I bought it as my first multitool because of this review! I Also think the file and scissors could be better.. and i want to try to put a Victorinox scissors in this powerpint! What moddel Victorinox scissors do you think would fit the best? (I Will probably have to do some drilling and filing to make it work but that should not be a problem) hope you can help me out 😁! I was looking hard at the T4 but now you have me thinking. (I have a wave + & Surge) While I like the T4 for its size and pocket ability, this might just fit the bill and cheaper too. Change my mind or point me to something else please. Swiss Tech 13 tool you reviewed crossed my mind.
Wow, I did not realize how small that thing is. I've only ever seen it online and I must have misread the specs or something because I always imagined it was closer to Wave sized. I love my Juice but I hardly carry it because of the lack of a pocket clip; I might need to get a PowerPint...

I almost never see a Phillip head screw. Pozidrive are the standard in Europe. Pozidrive is the standard across most of the far East as well. A pity that most companies don't consider the market outside of the US.
the way inner tools work, only tools that lay outside the pliers get to be full length, combining the openers would allow another short tool to fit in, but not a full sized tool like a saw, you'd have to replace one of the blades, file or scissors for that.
I saw this at academy the other day. I passed it up because it was $40. Any multitool I see for $40 doesn't seem worth it when you can get a used leatherman for $40 from eBay. But for it's size, amount of tools, and locking capability, it might actually be worth $40
Every so often our local hardware stores have Leathermans on clearance for $40. That's when I get them. Then again being in a hardware store is kind of a hobby for me.
TX Tool Crib it really is. If they slapped a Leatherman Juice file on this, made the scissors open wider, and had a way to lock the handles together when closed to allow for better bit retention, this would probably be one of my favorite multitools in existence.
Pretty interesting tool. But, it has no saw. Victorinox can put one in their knives of this size, so should SOG. Glad it has a pair of scissors, but no saw, no buy...
The steel is 5cr. Thats why im not getting one plus the peeps sayimg it breaks at the joint. Is the file also 5cr i wonder? If they built one with decent materials i would be interested. Very cool design.

Really tempted to try this due to your endorsement. I’m not a fan of SOG, even though I can spit north and hit them. If you want, I have a SOG reactor that is a horrible piece of garbage I’d be happy to send to you for a laugh. Make an April fools video.

What timing... I looked at a powerpint last week, but was turned off by the lack of on-board drivers in lieu of a secondary blade, cord cutter, and the redundant can opener/bottle opener set-up (one implement coulda done both). Thanks for the vid.
I think you might like this one. It’s a bit larger than the PS4 you’re using, but I really think this a pretty good option. I love how compact it is. The pliers are really impressive for a multi tool of this size as well. Little bit lacking on the scissors and a bit on the file, but overall a really good tool set in my opinion.

bowieknife this tool is a strap cutter not the best that I have seen. Out of the package this is not designed to be a package opener, it doesn’t offer a piercing ability. That being said, it would be an excellent idea to grind this down to a finer point to use it for that very purpose.
I don't understand why you have to bring in a Leatherman every video and compare it to some Leatherman every video when your video by title is about one multi-tool. It doesn't say anything about comparison or this versus that or anything like that it just said the name of this multi-tool I expected to run down of this multi-tool and multitool only not some long ass drug out comparison to some Leatherman Multi-Tool that I have no interest in. I don't care how it compares to a Leatherman. Leatherman is not the final word when it comes to multitools. If you're going to have a comparison video state that the title so people can avoid all the useless information they're not trying to look for I was interested in the multi-tool that you had in the thumbnail wasn't looking for a comparison to Leatherman Tool at all. Sorry to be a dick but it's a little frustrating I went through several of your videos and you just keep doing it
Will other manufacturers PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us more options for pocketable, pocket clipped, plier based multi-tools in this size? I want something to pair with a SAK. If I need something heavy duty I'll move up to a full size multi tool, I just want something that can share a pocket with a SAK, something TRULY medium sized that's bigger than keychain tool.
Leatherman bond is a slightly reduced version of the Rebar that comes pocket clip capable. it doesn't have locking tools, replacable cutters and looses the saw and serrated blade. it's also heavier than the SOG, but has better internal tools and can also take standard bits with the bit adapter kit... I have a rebar myself, and I was hoping it would be as easy to pocket carry as my old PST, but it is not. I carry the rebar and Bit adapter kit on my belt with a racheting 1/4 in driver and it's always bumping into stuff but very functional. I think the SOG PP would be a good option for days I don't want to belt carry, but still use bits. at $40+ right now though, I have lots of options I'm considering instead.
My only issue with their powerpints is how expensive it is for a tool made in china. I would buy it if it was $10, maybe $20, but I'm not paying $30-50 for it.

@ис I like the scissors on the Victorinox Pioneer X and it's the same scissors as my other favorite, the Victorinox Compact.

Is the material or metal made from it was sturdy or brittle?

There are several things about SOG multi tools that are actually really good.
You sounded quite knowlegable until you mentioned the Chinese brand pedaled by Walmart.
Really appriciate you giving the dimensions, as it helps with finding the right organizer, if/when I need it.

I think you convinced me to add this to my collection. I was disappointed that they didn't include a dedicated flat head driver but I think I'll grind down the end of the file to make one and maybe the end of the can opener for a smaller size. Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. I really like this multi tool a lot. I like the small frame size. I think it offers great capability for it’s frame size. There isn’t a dedicated #2 Phillips, but that is easily fixed by carrying a separate bit. Pocket clip is also a big plus in my book.
Your video lives on. I like your positive counterpoints to the average review of this tool. I wonder if many of them only perceived quality without really trying the tool out. I think you nailed the review in a comprehensive way. I also like that I can use the ratchet tool from Leatherman to extend the functionality of the driver. This really negates the need for a Gerber driver. The Juice S2 is no longer available or I would have one. But in many ways this tool is better.
You can open another tool and it will unlock your deployed tool. I find it easier to do that, than to open the arms to access the lock.

This tool is my favorite pocket MT but it's frustratingly flawed. It needs medium and small slotted screwdrivers so I ground those into the can and bottle openers. If only the hatching on the file were more aggressive, the phillips was a 1.5 and the serrated blade was a saw. I love the awl, serviceable scissors, eyeglass screwdriver, pocket clip, compound leverage and very light weight.
As a staunch Leatherman guy, I must admit that I've a soft spot for SOG. Many is the time that I (almost) pulled the pin on a Black Oxide Power Lock. However after seeing this review, should I invest money in a SOG, it would most likely be this one. Good Job Ben.

Now, I know this is late and I agree with you that I wouldn't trust the protractor there enough to consider it a feature but, it does have the 90 and 45 degree marks. Just on the other side.
Great review as usual. I own a Powerpint, and I have to say it is a great concept, poorly executed.
The pliers are great. The size is perfect, small enough to be pocket friendly but with plenty of tools.
The quality leaves something to be desired.
The tools had some play, so I tightened the screws to fix it.
There is no Philips number 2, They should make the tip of the rope cutting tool into one.
There is also no larger flat driver, The tip of the bottle opener should be one. I used the Dremel on mine to make it a pour man's 2D phillips / flat.
I have a hard time closing the scissors. Some of the inner tools are so hard to get to.
A decent steel for the blades would be nice. I wish that the serrations should go all the way to the tip of the blade, so that the first serration could be used as package opener.
They should use a better fle, or get rid of it and the serrated blade to make the tool thinner.
I would pay double the money for a Powerpint 2.0 with those problems solved.
Or better yet a Victorinox or Leatherman in this class.
I would love to see Victorinox and Leatherman come out with something similar in this class.
@@txtoolcrib I wish a multitool manufacturer would make a modular design so you could order the tools you need on the frame size you choose, like a pick & mix. As with this PowerPint, I would choose a saw instead of a serrated blade, and replace the push style can opener with a eagle claw style that could double as a cap lifter. Replace the cap lifter with a scraper. I would replace my Juice CS4 in a second.

A very good review of this seemingly capable little tool. I would replace the serrated blade with a good wood saw. Ditch both the cap lifter and can opener in favor of some good flat drivers. I'm with you on the scissors....a little larger opening and a wider thumb pad. A good aggressive wood file backed by a diamond file. Now, a really really good small edc tool.
I love that it has a pocket clip! ALL multi tools NEED a pocket clip!
Bigger multitools are a pain in the pocket. no doubt a clip would help, but at some point, it's just better to plan on carrying on the belt.
@@cupajoe7258 No doubt about that! I don't like cases, so I use the pocket clips to clip the tool to my belt. Is the clip on the powerpint big enough for a 1.5 inch belt? Sure wouldn't want it to fall off my belt.

I own a Leatherman Wingman, and a Gerber dime. The Wingman is a bit too heavy and bulky to EDC and the Dime is a bit too small and light on functionality. The Powerpint seems like a happy medium. It's probably not the best for some heavier duty work, but that's what my toolboxes are for.
It's 5cr15mov steel. According to SOGs write-up on Amazon.

They blew it with the #1 only Phillips. And wasting space on a separate bottle cap lifter and can opener is really ridiculous. Make that a combo and add a #2 and it would be a home run.
With the magnetic bit holder, you have unlimited choices in Phillips sizes in addition to any bit configuration in 1/4".
I agree. They should tweak the design as you stated. I've always felt that ALL multitool designers are missing an opportunity. They should look at making the can opener also an bottle opener and a clamshell package opener by sharpening the blade all the way down into circular portion just above where the hook grabs the edge of the can. (Sharpened the same way as a gut hook.) I suppose you could modify the can opener by sharpening it yourself. But, it would be nice to just have that one tool do at least three things. Thereby leaving room for more useful tools on the other spaces provided. I think packing along separate bit bit drivers kind of ruins the all in one convenience that a "multi tool" is supposed to provide.
I filed down the bottle opener into a flat head
Got this as Xmas present from Girlfriends brother. He saw me use my wave to cut open a bag of charcoal and use the pliers to lift the hot BBQ cooking grate. I guess he thought I need another one. I love multi tools. (maybe not as much as you) I found this tool to be kinda difficult to access all the other tools other than the pliers. The grips as well seemed a bit rough on the hands when squeezing tight. It makes a good back up, if I lose my Wave or Super Tool 300.

I really liked mine I bought the blacked-out version from Amazon I just had to make an exchange for a new one cuz I barely use the small flat-head screwdriver and the tip broke otherwise I really like it and I'll just have to be even more extremely careful

Mine has a lock lever at the opposite end of the tool,
To add some more hold power and your hand won't get tired holding the handles tight.
It's jimped, so just rub your finger over the handle end like a Bic lighter striker wheel,,,
If you have it, it should just pop out....

Another reviewer pointed out if you have a tool locked and you begin to open another too even with the unit itself closed, it will unlock the tool that's locked.
I am on the fence between the SOG Power Pint and the Leatherman Skeletor CX The SOG Has more capability but the Leatherman has what ya need 95% of the time......I think SOGs design and metal is more suited to a Marine Environment gonna go SOG on this one, I also have The Wave + and from back in my USN Deep Sea Diving Days (30 yrs) of course the Gerber 600, I really appreciate your videos, I like to know details and functionality and you deliver that, thanks. I like mine a lot. Would prefer spring loaded pliers, a slightly larger combo phillips head, scissors that opened a little more(as Ben alluded to) and a little bit of belly on the knife blade.
But this little beast carries a whole lot of functionality.

I didn't read all the comments, so this may have been mentioned. You don't have to open the pliers up to unlock the tools. If you lift one of the tools next to the one you're using, it unlocks it.
Only this and the power lock are the SOG you have reviewed so far. Are you gonna review anymore of SOG product in the future?

one of the most beautifull multitools, right after Gerber Dime. I am jumping to this from gerber dime. I so wish that pliers would be spring loaded, i loave all spring loaded stuff, but i can live without it in this case.
I find this one to be a very compact, lightweight, and useful multi tool for sure.

this is perfect, i don't have my multitool instead of my kitted out toolbox, but for on the go.
if something on my mountainbike breaks 20 miles from nowhere in the backcountry and then i don't fu***ng care it i have to open my multitool to unlock the knife🤣 its currently the best multitool on the market in this size and i love mine. that said, its not heavy duty so if i plan on repairing something in the field ill take a wave or surge with me, i use the powerpint more as a get-out-of-jail-free card, just in case something breaks

You can close the locked tool without opening the tool itself. All you need to do is open one of the tools on the same side a third of the way, and the locked tool will unlock.
5cr15mov is the steel used on the blades
I was very excited to see this in person back in 2018 at shotshow, I thought this would be the Juice killer, however It is a fine example of everything looks great on paper but fell short in practice.
I like its pliers, I like the overall design, but there are things I could not overlook.
The tool is uncomfortable to use, just way too many hotspots all over. Most (if not all) the internal tools don't works as well as Leatherman or Victorinox's counterpart. SOG can opener never work in my hands, I call them "Can't Opener". Lack of flathead and #2 Philips drivers are serious shortcoming. The ability to use bit is a moot point, I have no intension to carry extra bits with a small size MT.
It is disappointing. So close yet so far.
I hear you. I kind of look past some of the things you mentioned because it is such a small tool. I think what they put in this one is so jam packed, they really couldn’t fit anything else.

I keep that tool in my pocket pretty much every day at work. It is very well made small tool. I have a Gerber center drive and 600 also but I don't carry them a lot because they take up so space and weight.
I agree the ruler and protractor are pointless. I do not like the pocket clip. It makes the tool open in my pocket. They need to find a way to mount it the other way. Also I don't like the bit driver. But I like the tool overall and use it all the time.
I use to have a SOG PowerAssist but lost it somehow. That was a nice tool too. But it was also very heavy.
They should make the lanyard thing able to rotate over and hook the other side shut for using the driver. The scissor's action handle could easily be widened to overlap the spine side without interfering with anything. The file ought to have a tool in the tip, if that odd shape isn't meant to do something...Seems like several of the tools should be combined such as the bottle/can opener, and the blade could just have a serrated base. Then more and better tools could be included. If the handle can open to 180 degrees, why wouldn't the ruler be on the outside instead of being interrupted by the pliers? The locking mechanism requiring a full opening is a bit of a pain and ought to just have a release on the sides of the body that can be easily squeezed. Having multiple bits open at the same time is probably just a tolerance issue.
Still don’t get why they put can openers when you can open a can with the knife or practically anything even the flat head screw driver can do that.

The scissor on mine is unfortunately useless. Not sure what they messed up but it doesnt have a useful enough jaw opening.
I was looking hard at the T4 but now you have me thinking. (I have a wave + & Surge) While I like the T4 for its size and pocket ability, this might just fit the bill and cheaper too. Change my mind or point me to something else please. Swiss Tech 13 tool you reviewed crossed my mind.

Wow, I did not realize how small that thing is. I've only ever seen it online and I must have misread the specs or something because I always imagined it was closer to Wave sized.
I love my Juice but I hardly carry it because of the lack of a pocket clip; I might need to get a PowerPint...
If the juice series of tools had come out with a pocket clip, they would have been so much better.

I almost never see a Phillip head screw. Pozidrive are the standard in Europe. Pozidrive is the standard across most of the far East as well. A pity that most companies don't consider the market outside of the US.
I’d like to see the two openers combined like the leatherman’s and put a wood saw in the spare space..
the way inner tools work, only tools that lay outside the pliers get to be full length, combining the openers would allow another short tool to fit in, but not a full sized tool like a saw, you'd have to replace one of the blades, file or scissors for that.
I saw this at academy the other day. I passed it up because it was $40. Any multitool I see for $40 doesn't seem worth it when you can get a used leatherman for $40 from eBay. But for it's size, amount of tools, and locking capability, it might actually be worth $40
Every so often our local hardware stores have Leathermans on clearance for $40. That's when I get them. Then again being in a hardware store is kind of a hobby for me.

Only thing I don't like is the lack of bit storage. Other than that this thing is excellent.

Not Ben, but it's roughly the same size as the juice. It's only about half the weight of the Wave, and a third of the Surge :)

What timing... I looked at a powerpint last week, but was turned off by the lack of on-board drivers in lieu of a secondary blade, cord cutter, and the redundant can opener/bottle opener set-up (one implement coulda done both). Thanks for the vid.
I think you might like this one. It’s a bit larger than the PS4 you’re using, but I really think this a pretty good option. I love how compact it is. The pliers are really impressive for a multi tool of this size as well. Little bit lacking on the scissors and a bit on the file, but overall a really good tool set in my opinion.
The only thing that was cool with this multi-tool is it didn't come with a holster or pouch. That's it, this is a great edc, mine is awesome.

bowieknife this tool is a strap cutter not the best that I have seen. Out of the package this is not designed to be a package opener, it doesn’t offer a piercing ability. That being said, it would be an excellent idea to grind this down to a finer point to use it for that very purpose.

I don't understand why you have to bring in a Leatherman every video and compare it to some Leatherman every video when your video by title is about one multi-tool. It doesn't say anything about comparison or this versus that or anything like that it just said the name of this multi-tool I expected to run down of this multi-tool and multitool only not some long ass drug out comparison to some Leatherman Multi-Tool that I have no interest in. I don't care how it compares to a Leatherman. Leatherman is not the final word when it comes to multitools. If you're going to have a comparison video state that the title so people can avoid all the useless information they're not trying to look for I was interested in the multi-tool that you had in the thumbnail wasn't looking for a comparison to Leatherman Tool at all. Sorry to be a dick but it's a little frustrating I went through several of your videos and you just keep doing it

Will other manufacturers PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us more options for pocketable, pocket clipped, plier based multi-tools in this size? I want something to pair with a SAK. If I need something heavy duty I'll move up to a full size multi tool, I just want something that can share a pocket with a SAK, something TRULY medium sized that's bigger than keychain tool.
Leatherman bond is a slightly reduced version of the Rebar that comes pocket clip capable. it doesn't have locking tools, replacable cutters and looses the saw and serrated blade. it's also heavier than the SOG, but has better internal tools and can also take standard bits with the bit adapter kit... I have a rebar myself, and I was hoping it would be as easy to pocket carry as my old PST, but it is not. I carry the rebar and Bit adapter kit on my belt with a racheting 1/4 in driver and it's always bumping into stuff but very functional. I think the SOG PP would be a good option for days I don't want to belt carry, but still use bits. at $40+ right now though, I have lots of options I'm considering instead.
My only issue with their powerpints is how expensive it is for a tool made in china. I would buy it if it was $10, maybe $20, but I'm not paying $30-50 for it.
I tend to think that a fair price for this multi tool would fall in the $20 to $30 range. I understand your concern over Chinese manufacturing though.
The cheapest one I could get in Australia was $AUD114! You don't have a problem!

When are people gonna get over the fact that not ALL chinese made stuff is crap. A lot is, granted, but some of their stuff is pretty damn good.
