    I love aqua blue, midnight purple, crystal purple, rainbow blue and mother of pearl. You should use a combination 💜💙💟 of these colors more often. Love them 😊🥰🥰

      In large castings I find the MOP tends to weaken the other colors when added, thanks!

    i love that professional woodturners watch the same channels as a casual viewer like myself. ben worx is always entertaining.
    also i have never seen someone use an electric frying pan full of glue but that is ingenious. great stuff.

      You can’t get enough volume from a glue gun, this is why I use the electric frying pan, thanks

    My mom would have loved this light. She loved green and christmas and always decorated a lot for that time. But that year 2020 she was in hospital because of a hard brainstroke. Sadly she passed away in my arms 24 of december 10.30 in the morning. Hard time followed all of 2021. But also i took up woodturning and learning about Epoxy and thanks to you Jim i learning from every of your video.
    Thank you.
    Greetings
    Hans Olav

    It is wonderful 🙂 A little trick I use to get the resin strands off the spinning piece, without having to stop the lathe over and over, an old toothbrush will make those pesky strands get off and out of the way in a quick and simple way 🤠

    A balloon might have gotten a more "snow globe" shape and there would have been a larger gap between the edges of the tree and clear epoxy. Loved your mix of glow in the dark and solid pigments, definitely captured the decorated tree look! 🥰

    Hi Jim, this morning I decided to subscribe and support your work. The cost is so small and, that my Bank balance won't be affected.
    I love what you do and believe that I should be helping you.
    I can't afford anything you create, but it's fun watching you. Even if I've already seen the video, I use your voice to help me sleep 😴💤. You just have a calming effect on me.
    I have no family alive, and I sorta include you as family.
    I've also included Nick from his channel on Nick's Garage. I love MOPAR, and that's mostly what he works on.
    I'd like to take a trip up to Canada,just for fun.
    Thank you very very much,have a great day!😊

    great video mate, when you make this again, maybe define the branches a little deeper so they stand out more in the resin. have a great christmas and new year. Keep making and creating.

    • @tavdy79
      @tavdy79 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was thinking the same thing. Also, casting the tree in two different colours of resin - a slim cone of medium green (like in this video) for the core, and then a second cone of darker green outside which is carved into, should mean the light will pass through the centre easily, while the varying thickness of the darker resin will define the "branches".

    I wasn't so sure about those chopped up pieces, but they actually turned out pretty good! I personally would've done them in ball form with colored glue sticks in my hot glue gun (if I could find or make any) but your way was a lot less labor-intensive.
    That was a really good idea on how to make the tree. I think it might have been easier to see the definition between tiers through the resin if the cuts were a little deeper, but you did great drowning that treat in multiple waves of colored resin pieces so that it looks very full of lights. Super Christmas-y!
    That's also cool that you just got a few electrical components off Amazon and cobbled them together into a lighted base! I know a lot of people have that kind of knowledge, but I didn't really learn much about electrical work. Mostly just to turn off the power before trying any of it and how to match connections for swapping a light switch.

    I know they're not exactly standard workshop equipment, but for cutting up those little coloured pieces you used as decorations you might want to try toe-nail clippers.

    • @tavdy79
      @tavdy79 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, a fan fixed to the lathe to blow the resin strands strands away from the chuck end might deal with the problem of them wrapping around the piece you're working on, although they'd probably end up wrapped around the tailstock instead if that's being used.
      Happy Christmas!
