    Hey Jim. The Fan should have went In front of the radiator (fan---> radiator) Which is pull then exhaust. The Fan exhausts the hot air out of the case through the rad, fins. Unless you run a 2 fan setup (fan----> radiator ---->Fan)...which is pull--->radiator----->-pull------>exhaust. The fan "is" set in the right/or facing the right direction(It is pulling). I know this is 3 years late coming but ....anyway GREAT JOB with the DIY.

    Jim, between your video and the Dell R11 assembly manual, I managed to finally get this done today. The only difference I could see between your R9 and my R11 is that the CPU fan pins on the system board are way away on the opposite side from where the fans are. So essentially, I had to plug the top most fan (the Corsair fan) into the CPU fan as that cord was long enough, then the bottom fan (the stock fan) into the Top Fan pins. The computer doesn't seem to care, and best of all, I'm seeing 20-30 degrees cooler CPU temps now at idle and under load. And, I can even feel cool air blowing out at idle! Thanks again, man!

    • @DeCoNzMe
      @DeCoNzMe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So glad it helped you! I hope others with the R11 can get this figured out like you did! And ya. Huge difference in temperature!

      @@DeCoNzMe I just ordered my R11 with the basic 500W power supply and low profile fan. The difference on the website was huge, like it is for RAMs too. Both this comment and your video is a lifesaver. I am aware of what I'm about to face, I just hope to solve it asap :) Thanks for inputs!

    • @EndoJunts
      @EndoJunts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey I just got the R11 as well and am trying to use this liquid cooler too. I just want to make sure I'm doing this right. So you basically installed it the same way Jim did, but due to the differences, you're saying you had to take the fan the Corsair liquid cooler came with and use that as the top fan which sits above the radiator as shown in the video? You then plugged that into the CPU plug instead of the top fan plug like he did or what? Then when you say bottom (stock) fan, do you mean the origianl CPU fan which then now goes into the Top Fan plug now after being attached to the bottom of the liquid cooling radiator? Also he didnt seem to use the original CPU fan anymore so where is this stock bottom fan coming from? I've seen he's talked about putting a fan on top and bottom of the radiator but now im a little confused. Any info would help.

    • @DeCoNzMe
      @DeCoNzMe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EndoJunts the original cpu fan is not used again. I was able to use the stock top fan, and the one that came with the cooler to sandwich the radiator. But it's not necessary. The problem some people have is that the stock top fan works great. However the ones that come with some of the cooler setups throw an error code. So if you need to, use your stock top fan on the radiator. If you can, try adding the new fan as well, and cross your fingers it doesn't throw an error code :-)

    • @Strazman
      @Strazman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EndoJunts you pretty much got it. Let me break it down step-by-step. Let's assume the computer is standing straight up:
      1) Upper-most fan (the one that comes bundled with the Corsair H60) is mounted at the very top, closest to the air vent, at the top of the machine. This fan is the one that you'll have to plug into the CPU Fan pins on the motherboard. As you've seen on the R11 motherboard, those pins are essentially towards the bottom of the motherboard, a ways away from the top of the chassis.
      2) Radiator goes in next, with the tubes and everything oriented the same way Jim does in his video (it will only line up with the screw holes one way as well - again, as Jim points out)
      3) Finally, the stock fan - the original exhaust fan that you had to remove to gain access to "the void" as Jim calls it, that basically goes back in place where you initially took it out. The tubes from the radiator will actually fit around the bracket that holds that fan - trust me. Then, that fan, due to its short wire, has to plug back into its original Top Fan pins on the motherboard.
      Both fans should be pushing air up and out through the top of the case.
      4) At this point, yes, the original CPU fan and heatsink (all one piece), the one that was mounted to the processor, should be removed. You will NOT be using this little fan/heat sink combo anymore. Save it, recycle it, do whatever you want with it. Ensure you clean off the top of the exposed processor like Jim did and either use a thermal pad like Jim did, or just use the thermal paste that comes pre-installed on the H60. I used the paste since I'm lazy and don't intend on removing the H60 anytime soon.
      5) Then mount the tube pump directly on top of the processor. Orient it exactly how Jim does in the video. The tubes will swivel a bit where they meet the pump on top of the processor, which they're designed to do. It's a tight fit once everything is closed up, but it will work.
      I hope this helps.

      I believe if you use one fan you would want it to blow south, which wouldn't really be ideal because you would be pumping hot air into your case) if you use two fans (one on top and one on bottom of the radiator) you would want to have them both blow north, which would push air through the radiator and expell it out of the top of the case.

I just replaced the stock air cooled with a H60 and it seems to be working since the temps are down from 75-80 at idle to 45-50 the only thing I came across is the BIOS Support Assist Pre-Boot System Performance Check keep telling me that the CPU fan is not installed. It is not wrong, but I was wondering how I can tell the BIOS I am using an AIO know. Also, in Alienware Command center it still shows the CPU fan as an option. Where did you plug the pump power and pump tach cable in your Alienware

    • @DeCoNzMe
      @DeCoNzMe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a pump plug on the motherboard. Next to cpu fan where the old fan was plugged in.

    Mine is running at an average of 52c at idle, it's a i9 9900, shouldnt it be cooler than that

    • @DeCoNzMe
      @DeCoNzMe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is extremely hot! If it hits 100°f it's too hot. And starts to get dangerous for the life of the processor. You definitely need to go water cooled.. or you have some other problem.

    So the fan goes on the outer most side of the case with the radiator in the inside? And the hoses want to face towards the top of the tower?

    • @DeCoNzMe
      @DeCoNzMe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The hoses face into the tower. It will not fit any other way.

    Why not add the other fan to the radiator on the bottom as well?

    I get an endless bios fan check at startup

    • @DeCoNzMe
      @DeCoNzMe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because the fan you attached is not fit for that motherboard. Try it with the stock fan instead of that one. It will go away. Only a few fans allow for that to work. This one always did before. Maybe you got a newer one that is not compatible.

      @@DeCoNzMe I actually attached the pump to the cpu fan header and it’s perfect. Much cooler as well. Just reads the pump as a fan showing it’s rpm

    @jim Sutton, what fan did you add to the bottom of radiator, guess it would be the “push” fan? Did you have to alter anything in the programming? Did you get a y connector to connect pull and push fans so they plug into one connection on Motherboard?
