@@OnboardCircuit Hi, If i buy someone's aurora r7 with a i7 8700, rx 6700 xt, liquid cooled and 850 psu with 16 gb ram 2666 mhz it should run well right? Even if its old?
checking back in 2024 Do we have any new finds that would fit the R7 case? lol my stock liquid cooler on my R7 is shot im pretty sure..idle temps around 55-60 even after new paste..i believe my impeller on the pump is broke. I dont see any Corsair h60's around anymore and i dont really trust a "used" OEM cooler. I did find "open box" OEM coolers and 1 new one for $180. I dont wanna spend $180 for a new one but might take a chance on the open box one for less than half.
My Alienware Command Center has stopped showing me the CPU fan on my Aurora R7, but I can put it to idle or 100% with third party software. I really need help with this problem if anyone has experience with this.
I have a Corsair H60. I know it's different, but method should be similar. You didn't connect anything to the CPU_FAN header. Everything else I read said if nothing is connected to this you'll get a bios error. Not one video I watched is clear about where to plug this stuff in.
I know it’s a while ago now since your post but wondered if you found any info on this. I have recently purchased the H60 and trying to work out where to plug the cables also. Thanks for any advice.
Hi thanks for posting this video. I had the R7 case and want to check in 2024 is there is better option to use? Can you please advise 🙏 i had the i7-8700 is there is a way to upgrade this cpu to 9 or 10th generation or overclock it safely
@@vladimirputsitin5568 this got me so annoyed I got a nocuta nf-12 which only worked for my front fan then a ml120 which didn’t work then I got a ml120 pro which worked so annoying
I have a very important question, so please answer. The fan that is on the cooler from the factory does not work. So the replacement fan you are using looks like a Noctua PWM fan. Am I correct? Or is there a specific Alienware case fan that I have to purchase in order to make this work?
it may take a while for system to boot up everytime when you installed new hardwares. or check your graphic card, make sure its firmly pushed into the socket and the power cable is connected.
I’ve seen another person have this cooler and the top fans work, as well as having the same Alienware r7 I have and it works just fine at even 100% at 4000rpm, does it only work on some Alienware computers
A bit old, I know. But I have recently went through this upgrade with my own Aurora R7. Issue seems to be, it runs hotter after than with the original air cooler. Second issue seems to be the swing out PSU. From what I can see, when it closes it seems to be pinching the hoses near the radiator. Is this an issue you ran into by chance?
If you're pinching the hoses then that's probably why it's running hotter. Either that or the thermal compound isn't applied right, cooler is mounted wrong, or you didn't take the film off of the bottom of the cooler before installing.
@mintymus actually what I found out was using the included bracket there was all a gap wide enough to fit a sheet of paper through. I ended up fabbing my mount that held it securely and no issues.
I'm looking into purchasing the Corsair H60 for my Aurora r7. Mine consistently overheats and is crazy loud. After upgrading it to a liquid cooling system, are there other fans I should purchase to reduce the heat and noise?

No, you will have to remove the motherboard in order to install the mounting brackets on the back most likely. No matter what with this case it will be an involved job unfortunately.
Great video! Just used it to install the H60 into my R9. Everything worked great! The only thing is, my top fan, the one that came with the H60 wont go above 40%. It is at 7% while iddle and if I crank the fan speed to 100% in the Alienware command center, the fan only goes up to 40% according to the command center. Is there a fix to this?
I just bought an R8. I didn't go with liquid, but now I'm thinking about it. I don't wanna rip it all apart. I see the H60 is a recommendation. Is it any good? Also, anyone know if this mobo will fit in aftermarket PC case? I'm guessing no cuz Dell, but I thought I'd ask. I love this PC, but it doesn't have great airflow.
I have the R7, the airflow isn't as bad as you think. The main problem is the lack of clearance between the CPU and the power supply forcing the use of a small CPU air cooler. Get the stock Alienware AIO from a R5-R8 and the VRM heat sink, it does not require you to remove the motherboard and takes 5-10 minutes to install.
@@jamesharvey44 I already have the H60. I haven't installed yet. I'm still considering a new case. I read another thread somewhere that the mobo is a typical size so it might fit, but I'd have trouble with I/O and power. It's working ok, but I'd never buy another one lol

The factory AIO for the R5-R8 bolts right up without removing the motherboard, make sure to get the VRM heat sink for the watercooler setup.
so let me get this straight, the H60 will allow me to install this without removing my Motherboard?

Yes, in this PC , you can.

Why not just plug the top fan onto the cpu fan header?
because the computer will complain about the fan. I tested
