After that, I just couldn't bear to keep it. However, my adult daughter bought a Jazz in 2018, and still drives it daily. I have two jazz/fits, a first gen GD and a third gen GK. I’ve owned a lot of different cars and these are some of the best allrounders out there. The GD has really short gearing (3100rpm at 100km/h), and could do with some more legroom (I’m 6’4”) but it’s more fun to drive than a GK, it feels more like a classic Honda. Highly recommended for someone who wants a small car but isn't a car minded person. Servicing them is a doddle.
My driving instructor had one of these for teaching us in (me and my siblings) and besides the seats not having much lumbar support, it was a brilliant little car. The manual in his Jazz was surprisingly resilient and forgiving for the learners he took in it. What Hullsy said about the mechanical side of things I'd believe after having driven one. Also massive congrats guys on hitting 250k subscribers as you've earnt each and every one of them🎉👏🎉. Also my old man has said that 2 people he talks to regularly may be subscribing to yourselves as well. Brilliant job as always guys and look forward to Sunday's video as per usual 👍.
I own a 2004 Honda Jazz. In the last year I've had to fork out for repairs to the exhaust and ABS, which were costly, but whenever I feel like getting a more modern replacement for it, the garage men always say it's in spectacular condition and it's worth holding on to. Not sure if it's just because they get regular business!
Got ours here in NZ as a 2005 import 10 years ago with 56,000kms. Now sitting on 150,000. So nice to drive. Quiet, smooth, peppy. Have put on 6 new tyres - 4 of those all new 3 months ago (yep - the rears just wouldn't die). One seized left front brake caliper. CVT additive every 2-3 years. Normal servicing. And that's it. Never once missed a WoF. Always starts. Everything works. Still looks smart. Magic seats helped us move house three times. Easily fits a drier and a Wever family Q in the box into the back. Incredible. We'll probably never sell it.
Had a Jazz VTI 2006 for 17 years. Great little runabout. Only issues was the paint peeling on the side mirrors (age though), but just issues that you’d expect after 17 years so overall a solid car for 250,000 kms. Got a Mitsubishi ASX now, which is brilliant 🥰
I am incredibly short of the most valuable currency, time. I am considering fixing the little discrepancies and keeping it as it's a cracking little car, I just have no idea when I'll find the few hours to actually do the work. - AK

She absolutely loves that little thing and will never get rid of it. Only thing that grates her is the weak air con
My only regret is not seeing Honda making their Jazz anymore. Had my 2013 1.3l manual since brand new. It’s getting passed on to our daughter as her first car.
I am a 2nd owner of a 2007 Fit SPORT Automatic with currently 365, 5XX Miles (not Km). It has main door control issues, and intermittent "power" steering.
These things are amazingly reliable and have an incredible amount of space for the size of the car. The cvt on the 1.5 is fun with the paddle shifters. Highly recommend 👌😎
I have a 2015 EX with the 6 speed manual and the engine is extremely smooth even at higher revs. It purrs like a nursing kitten. I refuse to sell it. The fuel economy is not as good as my 2018 Civic turbo though. It rarely gets about 40 miles per gallon and here in the states that's still good but my civic will go as far as 47 miles on one gallon of gas. Sorry if you in other countries don't understand my measurement units. But we don't understand yours either. The only thing I don't like about it is the small gas/petrol tank. I can only go about 300 to 320 miles on a tank so I'm constantly dropping in a station for a fill up. My Civic will go well over 400 miles between fill ups.
I didn't think these would rust in Australia because they don't use salt on the roads. My Honda Odyssey leaks in the back despite the seals looking good. Seems to be a Honda thing. I left a drain plug removed and dry it if there's any water
The CVT (Constant Volume of Trouble) was shite... It would never go to "first/lo gear) from a stop. Step on the gas and BANG! then first...Noisy and horrible drone at speed. The dealer kept saying "thats normal"...What a pos....
I've lived in cold climate states here in the US and I've never heard of the problems the mechanic mentions. Would never worry about those. Just body rust is all.
Like every reviewer of Jazz on You Tube this reviewer also misses the storage compartment under the base of the left hand magic seat. Lift the seat and you can open the compartment for more storage space. It's not easy to find if you don't know about it.
We had 3 Honda jazz’s Absolutely loved them We had a gen 1 2004, 2011 and a 2015 The worse one we had was the newest 1 It literally rusted away in under 12months We traded it fast The only problem we had was the body Yes the boot used to leak in the gen 1 It was due to the glue what they used to glue the roof on shrunk so it just leaked The roof need to be removed and reattached After 8yrs and 760,000ks Absolutely zero mechanical issues But the body was shit 2011 Auto blow up with only 800klms on it Was replaced under warranty But paint fade and rear wheel bearings was our only problem We would do regular trips from Gold Coast to Newcastle every yr several times a yr plus the wife used it to drive back n forth to work Over an hr each way Jazz no 2 was written off from an accident No 3 Sorry It was just a dud
Check this: This model Fit Hybrid is available with a 6 spd manual in Japan. We get them here in New Zealand as used imports. Generally higher spec inside too with leather steering wheel.
@@rodcoates7941 The RS in Europe only had the 1.4 with 100 hp and manual airco. So I opted for the elegance. With leather steering and auto airco. No extra tupperware on the sides however.
The Mk2 Jazz is one of the best cars Honda (or anyone else) has ever made. My 2012 EX with the CVT is a little gem. Sadly I don't think the later generations were as well built, so I have no idea what to replace it with when the time comes. My mum kept a 2009 EX for over 10 years and only changed it when there were a few annoying niggles that I thought she should have just got fixed. Instead she bought a Mk3 and now regrets it. Crappy infotainment system, and less useful features inside - they got rid of the second glove box and passenger cupholder, why?😢
Budget small car? Are you kidding me? Even the used ones are EXPENSIVE. Brand new one or very low mileage used ones are more expensive than a car of the next category. This is why Honda sells almost nothing in Europe now.
This is the most ridiculous - but well made, let's be clear about that - self appreciation post to sell something I've seen so far. And it was made by Aussies, and you just know they can get away with it. Thanks for the video, I hope you get a good price for your Fit Jazz :) The story about the front seat after a gig, can be for another video ;)
Here in the UK, the petrol only variant we get is the 1.4 (really the 1.3) which is a shame. We don't have the 1.5 option. I have an ES+ and I really enjoy driving it. I really look after mine and it has only 39k miles (63k km) and there are 2 things wrong with it in my view. 1. The power - it just needs a bit more than the 1.3 will give and, 2. the front passenger window is not fully automatic and you need to keep your finger on the switch until the window is in the desired position. Surely Honda could have given us fully automatic windows on both front doors. After all, how much extra would that have cost them? Apart from that, 1st class car for the money.
How topical !!! We are in market for a small runabout for my kids to learn on, albeit an auto. It's a toss up between this , a Swift and a Mazda 2. The only concern I have with the Jazz is the CVT.....seems the Gen 2 has this sorted, good to know. An aside, after a few months of looking, there are loads and loads of trashed Jazzes on the market, often with "ambitious" unrealistic pricing and dodgy, sketchy service records. A common issue seems to be the paint, hard to find an older Gen 1 car without seriously trashed paintwork.
I have a 2008 Mazda2 with 215k on the clock. Besides scheduled maintenance and tyres it has not cost a cent more. 20Km/L and a rather sporty drive. Probably the most reliable car I have ever had. The Honda is by far the most practical with a touch of ''class''. The Yaris is soo small and has a really bad ride quality. Besides it being a Toyota it brings nothing to the table.
Great cars definitely 👍. Personally I'd opt for the Toyota Yaris. Eitger way Toyota Yaris or Honda Jazz you cannot go wrong. Most two reliable small cars definitely
Awesome people of the TH-cam comment section, I'm looking for either a Jazz 1.5 or a Yaris YRX 1.5 both manual for a daily driver/nugget nationals race car... which would you chose and why?
Loved my Fit. 2009 cargo people hauling poor persons sports car. Fit everywhere, fit everything. Not great in snow, AC was total Honda shite but damn it was fast, precise and just fun. Miss it and looking for another but the 09 plugs blowing was a real Honda failpoint.
I've owned a 2009 honda fit and a 2006 toyota matrix / pontiac vibe. Personally I'd look for a toyota 1st, and settle on honda fit if couldn't find a 2003-2008 toyota or pontiac vibe. The honda fit are very cheaply made and uncomfortable for driving beyond 30 minutes. There are problems with water collecting on inside the unibody frame and rotting around doors rear hatch and floor. But engine transmission are usually very good. The toyota, ponitac is far more comfortable, can tow with it and not get blown around on the road. But there are far fewer toyota or pontiac out there. Where far more honda fit were made and on the road and more likely find one that was well taken care of and a good price.
Did a 6,000 RPM full throttle launch from the lights in the 1.3L Yaris, only to get chopped by a grandmother in her 1.5L automatic Jazz driving slowly.
We had this model (2010) and 2015 the early model cvt transmission is horrible and the room is amazing for transporting everything including furniture we used the 2015 model interstate a few times I personally just put a cushion on the seat, we wrote off the 2015 model and it literally split in half underneath we walked away shaken but not injured, I would not recommend buying one as Honda is no more interested in the jazz Australia and plastic parts are hard to get like the black part on rear tail gate including the H , go Suzuki Swift Turbo but you will miss the cargo space…..
I have a 1.3 5 speed, 2012 GE Id agree completely on getting the 1.5, but if the 1.3 is available you wont be missing out. Bought mine September 2017, with 39k on the odometer, now showing 173000k and change. Replaced the rear shocks @80000k, cant bitch about that, carried a concrete outdoor table with 2 concrete benches and the plinths for them home after my wife made a marketplace purchase. No idea what they weighed, but my front wheels had zero weight in the steering, I suspect contact with the road was ...tentative. 80k service shocks were leaking. Replaced them. Replaced a relay in the Air conditioning system. Thats it, purely service items at service time. The writing in the LCD screen is no longer visible, the heat from Queensland summers while it sat in the sun in a carpark cooked it. Everything works, just a certain amount of random selection when going through your presets. Cant fault my little pick up truck, readout shows 5.9l/100 a little rough math on fill up shows closer to 6.5, no complaints. Done at least 1/2 a dozen 1200k day trips, yeah, its not a Bentley, but we went for dinner that evening without issue. It has a towbar for a 6 x 4 trailer, it knows its there but just use a little common sense. Great little car, can't fault it, service it every 10k as specified and I suspect it will go forever. I am looking at updating the entertainment, with dashcam and all the yadda yadda, any suggestions?
Rust is the biggest killer for these, My 2010 jazz sport door rusted out near the edge. Seems like a common issue as ive seen many parts fit/jazz with same rust spot above the drain hole.

« Even space left In case the gig goes really well »😂
My driving instructor had one of these for teaching us in (me and my siblings) and besides the seats not having much lumbar support, it was a brilliant little car.
I solved the lumbar support by putting an old jumper on the seat xD It's great now
I own a 2004 Honda Jazz.
By cvt additive you mean Cvt service ie fluid change?
Not in America sadly...since they discontinued them here, they have gone up in value and a used Fit is generally more than a used Civic.
Adam, if it is so cheap and easy to fix, why not fix the poor nugget 😂😘
I am incredibly short of the most valuable currency, time. I am considering fixing the little discrepancies and keeping it as it's a cracking little car, I just have no idea when I'll find the few hours to actually do the work. - AK
Tomorrow between 1500-1700hrs sounds good then?Good, see you then!
These are brilliant. We have had 3. All 1.5 manual. The first lasted 550,000km , the 2nd was crashed at 280,000km and the third is still strong at 290,000km. The only common fault is that the rear wheel bearings need replacement at about $200,000km. One had the rear brake drag fault once but otherwise been bulletproof. Tyres and the odd new battery. Perfect first car or great cheap transport. Oh and the space is nuts. I once picked up a single bed mattress in the jazz. And I have used the magic seat upright for things - eg suitcases and plants.
Got a friend with a mid 2000s 1.3 cvt Jazz owned from new...as long as you get the transmission fluid changed semi regularly and make sure the 8 (yes 8!) spark plugs are all replaced when needed they'll go forever. She absolutely loves that little thing and will never get rid of it.
Only thing that grates her is the weak air con
We need a review of the 2008-2012 fiesta!
a channel that reviews used cars...this is what common folks need.
Do the Hyundai Getz next, if your too poor to buy a Jazz, buy a Getz, really cant kill them.
Hyuandai are zombies 🧟♂️ cant kill them 😂
Hyundai Getz next!
My only regret is not seeing Honda making their Jazz anymore. Had my 2013 1.3l manual since brand new. It’s getting passed on to our daughter as her first car.
I bought a 2006 1.5 Jazz pre-covid for $3500 with around 110,000km and sold it for $4000 at the end of last year with 135,000km!
I had one of these. Very reliable and practical. As for fun to drive, that’s not how I remember it 😂
The CVT (Constant Volume of Trouble) was shite... It would never go to "first/lo gear) from a stop. Step on the gas and BANG! then first...Noisy and horrible drone at speed.
The dealer kept saying "thats normal"...What a pos....
I had the window issue for a while. Eventually it just fixed itself :D
I don’t know why im watching these reviews, I don’t even have extra money to buy, guess I have extra time to spend😂
how were you not on australian top gear!! you're the best!! :D
I've lived in cold climate states here in the US and I've never heard of the problems the mechanic mentions. Would never worry about those. Just body rust is all.
The amount of space in this is really surprising. Great video just what I needed since I am considering getting a jazz for myself.
I had a first gen on a 07 plate here in uk, superbly reliable car but cat was sawn off so traded it in .
I have the hybrid, 162000 miles and and still going strong🤞🏼
My mum has a 2016 jazz. Its like driving a go kart but damn its so big inside for such a small car.
Like every reviewer of Jazz on You Tube this reviewer also misses the storage compartment under the base of the left hand magic seat. Lift the seat and you can open the compartment for more storage space. It's not easy to find if you don't know about it.
I nearly got one last week, extremely low millage for gdp 3k, but there was too much rust.
Can anyone comment on the reliability of the hybrid version. 2014 honda fit and grace models?
These things (all generations) hold their value very well. Theyre reliable, nimble & practical. The only let down is the image of a granny wagon
and are prone to rust underneath fast, if left outside in the rain permanently.
How close is this car mechanically to a Honda City (Ballade, here in South Africa)?
Is it better to look unfashionable while arriving at your destination every time or fashionable while standing by the side of the road for a tow?
Just bought last week a 2010 model and the driveshaft snapped 😅
This is the best channel I've found for researching used cars
I think I remember you guys asking what goes wrong with these in one of the Facebook groups
We had 3 Honda jazz’s
Absolutely loved them
We had a gen 1 2004,
2011 and a 2015
The worse one we had was the newest 1
It literally rusted away in under 12months
We traded it fast
The only problem we had was the body
Yes the boot used to leak in the gen 1
It was due to the glue what they used to glue the roof on shrunk so it just leaked
The roof need to be removed and reattached
After 8yrs and 760,000ks
Absolutely zero mechanical issues
But the body was shit
2011
Auto blow up with only 800klms on it
Was replaced under warranty
But paint fade and rear wheel bearings was our only problem
We would do regular trips from Gold Coast to Newcastle every yr several times a yr plus the wife used it to drive back n forth to work
Over an hr each way
Jazz no 2 was written off from an accident
No 3
Sorry
It was just a dud
Thank you Adam! 😁
It's not the best small car. It's the best car.
Known to have some weak ass drive shaft at NoGoodCVT transmission lol
It makes me so frustrated to know we came within two years of getting a Fit Si.
We have one of these as the grocery getter at work, top little car
LETS GOO i've been waiting for this one
This car is good because it is cheap. The soundproof is terrible
Check this: This model Fit Hybrid is available with a 6 spd manual in Japan. We get them here in New Zealand as used imports. Generally higher spec inside too with leather steering wheel.
You lucky kiwis also got the RS model too, it had another 10kw over the VTi
@@rodcoates7941 The RS in Europe only had the 1.4 with 100 hp and manual airco. So I opted for the elegance. With leather steering and auto airco. No extra tupperware on the sides however.
So long as all four wheels are working i dont need anything else😂
Damn good buyers guide.
Thank you guys.
Interesting
Except I have a 1.4 iVtec Elegance with 100 hp.
Budget small car? Are you kidding me? Even the used ones are EXPENSIVE. Brand new one or very low mileage used ones are more expensive than a car of the next category. This is why Honda sells almost nothing in Europe now.
Honda's used in the UK are expensive
These are a good car. Fun to drive for some reason.
Theres also the Mitsubishi Mirage/Space Star
Just dont get the cvt.
It’s Toyota Rukus review time!
Why is reability always means that those cars are, also very ugly like honda, and toyota. They just can,t design cars.
Ugliness is subjective, though
Loved my Fit. 2009 cargo people hauling poor persons sports car. Fit everywhere, fit everything. Not great in snow, AC was total Honda shite but damn it was fast, precise and just fun. Miss it and looking for another but the 09 plugs blowing was a real Honda failpoint.
egg
Almost 300k mi (500k km) on my '09 Fit obtained for $600 in 2020. Too bad it's rusting out from under itself... (Use Fluid Film/Surface Shield, kids.)
Been waiting for this video
I have a 1.3 5 speed, 2012 GE
Id agree completely on getting the 1.5, but if the 1.3 is available you wont be missing out.
