First Impressions: Ace Hawk Venom / Micro-Monster Combo

- It was a risk; taking this light of a combo out to one of my best smallmouth bass creeks. But why not give it a real test, right? I had my most productive day as far a quantty of smallmouth, for sure. But I just couldn't help but wonder if this Ace Hawk Venom and Kingdom Micro-Monster combo could handle a decent creek smallie.

Excellent test of the new combo. Rock bass can be a whole lot of fun too... I know they took the drag pretty hard on my daughter's little pink pole, so they must be fun on that combo. Nice video Aaron!

Yes I would go a little bigger for bigger fish. You can always fall back to the smaller for numbers again, but catch the road of the group first 😊
Sounds like a solid plan. Sometimes it feels like I need to weed through the more agressive small ones to get the tanks to bite. :P
If I could be so bold: It would be nice to see the landed fish for another 1-2 seconds. Love your content.
I will do my best. I'm suually focused on getting them back in teh water. The nicer fish i usually show a bit longer. :)
What did you use to make that rod holder for your bike?, ive always wanted to make one fo to hold my spinning and bfs setup.
Just PVC pipe and electrical tape! Zip ties to secure it and a bungee cord to hold the rods in place.

I imagine it will be very nice indeed. I typically like the shorter rods due to the tighter spaces I usually fish.
Excellent video, always watch your videos all the way through. I received my Venom a couple of weeks ago and matched it to my 16 aldebaran, I'm impressed. Haven't decided on the micro monster yet, it's a variant of the dwu without the brakes. What's your opinion and did you get both spools? Also yes I do change up lures lol 😂
I did get the other pink spool - I really wanted the pink version but they were having quality and stock issues, so I went with the purple. So far I think the braking is more effective than the stock Gen 1 DWU. But I want to give it some time and maybe do a head to head eventually once I really break the Micro Monster in. Use both the Venoma nd the Windshadow and swap the reels abck and forth and such. Maybe I'll swap in the lighter pink spool at some point too. Appreciate your consistent support.
A little advice.....never walk with the rod tip facing forward (easy way to break the tip), should walk with the rod butt forward.
I'd have moved after a while, but only cause I have a better spot, LOL. Also caught my 1st and only double not far from there, on a Donkey-rig (3" Slug-o & 4" Powerworm).
We all have better spots, right? The goal is to find more great spots. I usually take my time the first time fishing an area, just trying to figure them out. Multiply that by the first time out with a new combo, catching as many fish as possible simply isn't always the goal. And yeah, i probably fish slower than most. But not sure where else I would have ridden the bike that day anyway. Thanks for the comment.
@@AaronHuntFishing Absolutely. I'm usually just upstream. On bike from your direction there might be a connector trail to the railroad tracks, and cross the upper bridge...else go down to the bike shop and double back on the road .
Do you find the lock down thread on the reel seat of the Venom is short? Barely holds my DWU.
yes. I mentioned that in my unboxing - definitely short. But didn't notice any issues while fishing.
@@AaronHuntFishing Good to know there were no issues while fishing. But the reel falling off the rod midstream while hooked up on a fish would make a great blooper video for your channel...lol
I noted this in the unboxing video, but will repeat it here. Neither of my Black Knight 2 and one of my 2 DWU reels will fit on this rod. 1of my DWU will barely fit and so the rod is usablefor me but the rod may need to be modified to fit your reel if you buy one. The rod otherwise is very nice, but be aware of this issue.

Yes, rod matters, line matters. Upgrade the bearings and it will be excellent. This video was with. 1.8g / 2 g b-vibe.

If I was getting lots of action I would go bigger to catch bigger fish. If I wasn’t getting action I would stay small to catch more quantity of small fish.
