What size motor must be registered?

My money was on you staying upright. I believe you are correct that P. Lake does not allow any type of motor. That being said, that when you put a motor (including electric motors) on any type of vessel in PA. it must be registered through the state. If registered you must display your numbers on either side of the vessel. Also PA. requires a launch permit on many of the waterways if the vessel is unpowered. I have seen so many people written up by the Fish Police because of these infractions. Enjoyed the video and looking forward to the next.

Dude because of this video I researched this reel. Just pulled the trigger (Ali today had a seller for around 43 USD) and bought one. Gave your name to my wife for any complaints, this purchase of a third BFS reel is on you! Concerned if will cast <1g (spool weight) and smoothness. Few reviews out there, must trust. Thanks for getting me in trouble hehe

Love the collaboration! Have 7 Kistler rods now including 2 Nitraniums and 2 Heliums. Just ordered the 3x 7'0. My first "BFS" setup was a JDM 2016 Scorpion 71 and a Kistler Magnesium 2 and I still have it. I have been using a Gekkabijin and a Kistler Light 'n Fast since it came out as well. I have 5 of the Kistler chromium reels now and bought some of the BFS whiffle spools to use on the BFS setups with the Gekkabijin.

Dinks are better than skunks any day. Are hooksets more difficult with the BFS setup as opposed to a more rigid rod? Just wondering if the flex makes it more challenging. I had 2 ultralights here for trout, and switching between them was always a trick. One was like a wet noodle, and the other is my go to Okuma Celilo. I have noticed how the flex matters when I'm trying to get that initial hookset, but these are not BFS of course. Just wondering. Take care Aaron👍

I got the twin spool version, 7.1 speed and I've enjoyed it so far. Very smooth retrieve. I've only used the deep spool and have enjoyed tossing jerkbaits and small swimbaits on it for bass. I intend to try the shallow spool before too long. Not sure how long it will last, but the low weight, extra spool, and smoothness make it a great deal so far. I think I paid around $65

What line do you like to use with your bfs?

Hello from wv. I really enjoy watching your channel growing up on the north fork river. I never realized I was a bfs fisherman. Using small worms and lures and such. Check out the lure name freaky franks. Soft plastics. I’d like see a video what you put in your daily kit box.

1" Wacky video. Really interested in how this technique is supposed to work. I have a weightless variant that I use for panfishing that involves cutting a 3" Bass Pro Sticko into 6 sections and threading spinner-bait skirt material through it to make "legs."

good vid mate, i have been fishing in a kayak for over a 3rd of my life and caught countless fish including metre plus Murray Cod I have caught in both sit on and in i can honestly say that the accessories is never wrong nor right as we all have our own with setups etc. go bareback kayak for a few sessions and take note of how you adjust to everything involved and go from there to suit your style etc. i nowadays personally love a bare minimum of gear in/on my kayak for the trip but have all the essentials for all situations and I have come to the conclusion that no matter what you do/use it will always be a problem in some way some how. I personally also only use rod holders in travel where I am not in rod breaking hazards as no matter what holder and placement, rods have incredible grabbing capabilities and will grab/catch so i place my rods in along the middle using the bar on my raised seat as a rod rail with a good quality thick felt strip and have lil to no worries with rod grabbing even with my 7ft single piece Berkeley venom sidewinder baitcaster even in extreme heavy timber. do what works for you, your fishing styles, your equipment and your budget is my biggest piece of advice on how to set-up your kayak. remember the reason for this is to have fun and experience the awesome adrenalin rush of catching trophy fish in unreal circumstances where you overcome and get the pics of your catch and enjoy. tight lines to all.

Very good breakdown! Shimano may have coined the term BfS but Daiwa has been doing it way longer. I have a few including an Abu LTZ , Pixy , Alphas. Light spools and good ceramic bearings are your friend.

Hi, I have a question regarding that rod. I want to try BFS, I'm fishing only on lakes. What is your opinion regarding length? Should I go for short or long model?

I found that my Shimano XT was super finnicky as well. Id been throwing Kast Kings, 13 fishing, and Daiwa ($90) and can cast those with my eyes closed probably. But my XT was backlashing and overruning on even tiny casts. I didnt get it. I thought as we go up in price, things should just get easier! But after spending some time with it i was finally getting it. I had everything at full brakes and was just expecting the spool tension to fix everything. Turned down all the brakes to the midway point and man, the spool tension is SO FINE that it seems like a 1/32nd of a turn can give or take 5 yards off your cast. Something about some Shimano reels that just require more attention. Well then my SLX MGL has been on the same stock settings since i bought it and that thing never gives me problems lol. Oh well.

You need to include ARK Gravity BFS reel. It really is a great competitor in bfs reels with Varivas PE 8 braid .8 Go lb with a BENKEI rod 6’7” light rod. Been my main combo and getting everything:bluegill, crappie, LargeMouth Bass ❤
