    Great review. Have to disagree about the Teton but only because I am fishing under different circumstances. Sure purists will give you stick for suggesting the Mojo Bass rod due to its rating, but I agree as I think BFS is many different things to people around the globe. I would call it Power BFS and probably be shot down in flames for doing so.😂

      @AaronHuntFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agree. The teton didn't suit me at all - but many enjoy it. And 100% agree on the Power BFS. More bass focused for sure. Appreciate your channel - I use a lot of MicroFly line because of a few of your videos. ;P

    Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

    Very nice. North Fork Composite has the new xray blanks out. These are the top tier, US made, carbon blanks that weigh next to nothing. They have the P 700 blank for UL and theyre on sale from 250 down to 80 right now. Maybe try building your own or have a local builder do it for you.

      @@AaronHuntFishing O took my own advice and built a bfs rod off the P-700 Xray blank. I also just finished building a bfs rod on a Rainshadow sp840 blank. Both are amazing.
      Try the building. I did it on a whim and I love it. Not that I have a ton of time with an 8 and 11 yr old kids, job, back at school getting a masters in mechanical engineering, home to maintain, and a marriage to maintain....find the time. It very rewarding and fun.

      North fork makes great blanks. We make our own saltwater inshore casting rods from 9’ fly blanks. if you buy 4-5 of them, the prices are fantastic. Making a rod takes a few hours of tedious work, but pretty rewarding. And catching a 30” red on this tackle … nothing beats it.

    I just received my Bass Pro Micro Lite Glass Casting Rod - 4'10" UL. I agree with Fishingelbow, not sure about the grip. I can say there is a lot of filler used on it. took it out on Friday to test on a small local NJ stream.. Mounted a Dark Wolf Ultra (there upgraded brake model.) I was casting a 1/12 oz phoebe and a 1/8 oz Lil Cleo. 8lb braid to 2 lb fluoro. Rod handled those lures great. Only fish hooked was a 14 " sucker that I snagged in the tail.The blank bends smoothly until you get to the ferrule connection then it flattens a bit. The rod did an excellent job as did the Dark Wolfs drag really smooth. I would say the rod is a definite keeper. I was able to flick cast both spoon.decently but not it's strong suit.. Roll castings seems the best way if you want distance and accuracy

    I had a Microlite glass rod I got for my grandson. The handle was way too big for his hands, so I tried to reshape it and found out it was a piece of gray rubber(?) with a cork design tape glued on top of it. Forgot about sanding that handle and replaced it with real cork. Played with it a bit and found the action to be quite progressive, as one would expect from a glass rod. Felt indestructible yet surprisingly decent. May buy one for myself to carry at all times.😎

    Nice review . I have the same fibreglass flick rod (same rod -different brand) , and the Ace hawk Victoria , same as yourself , I consider them a "pair" , some streams I want the extra stiffness of the graphite , but both rods are a joy to use .
    I've been adding four piece rods to my collection , I pack a light rated rod along with a medium heavy , if the fishings tough , I set up the lighter rod . Travel BFS rods is where Ali xpress stands out as Japan/US/Europe manufacturers don't seem to have any in their line ups .

      What you're describing, with a cork handle, is what I couldn't find. And still haven't yet.
      It's why I worked with Kistler to design their BFS rods: Cork handle, can throw down to 1/32 easily, but still land a 5 lb Smallmouth. It's the only rod that I've come across that does all of that.
      Decent cork is expensive these days - that's why the trend of foam grips - or lately the exposed butt - are popular: It's less expensive. But the real magic is having tip flexibility to cast light lures, along with backbone to fight big fish. I'll link a budget rod that can do down to 1/8 on your other comment, but here's the best rod for the job: www.aaronhunt.net/recommends/kistler-bfs/

    I completely disagree on your 662l take. it has a progressive taper and more of a parabolic bend, especially compared to major craft bfs rods. Maybe you were mistaken on the model? The 662l teton is probably the best suited bfs for finesse bass fishing of the rods you mentioned. Also its closer to an ul than a lot of manufacturers ul bfs models which are usualy ml or l despite their rating. While it can get down 2 gram range it doesn't do it as good as others in ur vid. I caught a 30 inch carp on the 662l teton and a 2015 alderbaran with 6lb fc.
    Your description of that teton would be mine almost verbatim for major craft benkei ul65. (kuying 65l conqueror is in the same boat inmo). While the Major-craft volkey 652ulbfs would fill the gap between benkei and the 662l teton.
    From your stated rod preferences you would probably like the 602ul teton. Has a ul action and a slower taper with a parabolic bend. was one of my faves till i broke the handle with my car...lol Paired so good with my Diawa air tw. fiy some bfs reels will perform better or worse with diferent rod actions and tapers. Daiwa presso bfs and air tw bfs seem to like a slower taper and parabolic rod.
    But there is no way i would consider the teton 662l fast/faster than anything but bfs ul trout rods which in my opinion it is not that and would not be a negative even if it was because different rods for different techniques and all that. I use major craft finetail 54ul and a ttc-522sul teton for trout among a few others and a bunch more available for bass depending on what i want to throw.
    5 years or so ago and this conversation would consist of 2 or three rod models...its awesome even major brands are making bfs rods and reels for mainstream market now! ;)

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @shtizen4371 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AaronHuntFishing Like i said maybe not your preferred specs but while not my most used rod i use it paired with a conquest bfs 8lb fc when fishing weedles small plastics. the extra power n backbone helps drive hooks thru a texas rig.
      But still the 662l teton is considerably lighter action and has a more parabolic bend compared to the benkei 65ul. The ace hawk cu double for example is way less parabolic than the teton in action. all be it with a much softer lighter tip.
      the teton line has a large selection of actions tapers and lengths. Sucks their prices have went up.
      I had both the ttc510s and ttc602ls among my teton collection and broke the top half on one and the bottom half on the other (my fault both times) and I dont want to spend 80 dollars more than what i paid each to replace em....handle kinda sucked to but awesome rods other than that.
      P.S. Im not trying to argue i just want peeps to have a point of comparison. The right rod in bfs makes the difference between someone joining the bfs game or giving up. As bfs goes you have to buy rods sight unseen more often than not so an accurate description is important.

      I'm still looking for something to beat my Aldebaran / Expride set-up. It's that good. Probably Aldebaran and Poison Adrena. But, the Conquest BFS / Bluecurrent III could be a great combo for trout / streams. Then you could always go all Steez - which I haven't tried yet (like $800-$1k combo). But it's probably pretty awesome. @JohnsFishingJourneys has a Steez combo and loves it. And some folks love the Megabass Orochi rods. Kistler is also making some "power BFS" in the Helium line, and true BFS in the KLX line as a custom. And on the lighter side, the Gekkabijin/Jenko Double Down has been pretty impressive. Just a few off the top of my head which may eventually show up on the channel :P

    What side of the bfs reel should the handle be on? Match my spinning gear or match my baitcasters

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Man, such a can of worms. First off, here in the US handle on the right - or "Right Hand" - baitcasters tend to sell 9 times better than "left handed" baitcasters. That may not be true across the board, but from the companies I've talked to, that's their numbers.
      I grew up fishing spinning with the handle on the right. I guess I've always been an oddball. So switching to left-handed BC reels felt odd, but here's the main reason I prefer it: Efficiency. When you are casting, your hands are already prepared to start reeling when the lure hits the water. This translates into more casts per hour.
      But more importantly, when fishing shallow water or moving water, you can control and work the bait immediately as well, especially if you are making a flat-trajectory, accurate cast. A cast where you are targeting a pocklet that you think is holding a fish. You dont waste the cast by being slow to work the lure.
      That assumes you cast with your right hand. But, becasuse I fished with the rod in my left hand for nearly 50 years, I do find my instincts fighting a fish are better with a right handed reel. But I have yet to feel I lost a fish with the rod in my right hand, and defintiely know I have hooked fish when the lure hits the water because I was ready to roll.
      So while I prefer left, I use both.

      I don't do a ton of drop-shotting. Spinning is probably the BEST for mroe vertical drop-shotting. But, I'd go with faster carbon for this. I liked the video but i get very confused by the ending. Are we talking about the highly recommended Kyuing Teton TTC-662L 2-10g? I have used it for 2 seasons as a redfin perch rod here in Sweden and my complaint is that it is too progressive and slow and have been trying to find a faster less progressive alternative. Now i don't use it for trout stream fishing, i use my Palms Egeria Native Performance, Daiwa Silver Stream Twitcher and Abu Garcia Zoom Safari for that .... but honestly i feel that the TTC-662L would suit me better as an area trout rod than bass/perch rod.

      The Lemoren Windshadow is the whippiest by far. th-cam.com/video/K6kDkj_tjyM/w-d-xo.html

      Not a fan of KastKing in general. The zephyr had a lot of quality control issues early on, so I never tried it out. Then a few other KK products had QC issues, and they started price gouging US consumers IMO, and I was done with them.
