  • Welcome to Backyardplus! In this video we show you how to jump the pressure switch on the 2001 to current IQ 2020 control box. If the power and ready lights are both flashing on your control panel and your spa is not heating, it may be caused by a bad pressure switch in your heater.
    Attention: This test is for diagnostic purposes only. Your heaters pressure switch is not replaceable which means, if it is bad, you will need to purchase a new heater. With the pressure switch bypassed on your IQ 2020, you can use the 73790 or 73791 PDR (power down reset) heaters or you can simply replace your heater with the 76227 or 76228 OEM factory replacement which has a built-in pressure switch.

    Good stuff! Thanks for the great DIY videos. Craig hooked me up this summer with all new IQ2020 electronics. Hot tub is heating and I am happy.

    Thanks for amazing video,can I use jumper as permanent solution?

      You are not supposed to use a jumper as a permeant solution because the pressure switch is a safety device. We encourage folks to buy a new factory heater which has a built in pressure switch or buy a new PDR heater and keep your pressure switch jumped. Thanks!

    Thanks great video. So I bought new heater ans it only have 2 cable coming out on the top. I made a jump as u I video and it started heating momentarily. Question: do I not need any presur valve at all?

      You new PDR heater has different circuitry so there is no need for a pressure switch. The PDR will shut off when it senses no flow. Jus power down your spa to reset the heater.

    Curious why the pressure switch can’t be replaced. The part is available for $50 online and matches exactly the one on my 2014 Hot Springs Aria. Currently my power and ready lights are flashing and I’ve troubleshooted all basic fixes. Thanks.

      Watkins does not want customers removing the heater cover and working in the area where the high voltage is. Its a safety issue. Watkins recommends replacing the entire heater when the pressure switch malfunctions.

    If the hot tub is heating while the Jets are on but as soon as you turn the Jets off, the “Power” and “Ready” light start blinking? What do you think the most common culprit is? I’m about to replace my circulation pump but want to avoid it if you think it could be something else. Thank!

      First check for clogged filters or an airlock. You could have a bad pressure switch in your heater. It can also be your circ pump.

    I have a problem! the red and green light is blinking! I twisted the 2 cables to the pressure switch and put the power on! It works in maybe 30seconds then it start blinking again! Do you have any ideas?

      You must have a flow issue then. 1. Clean your filters. 2. Make sure your circulation pump is working good. 3. If you recently drained and refilled your spa, check for airlocks. An airlock will restrict flow which will cause your power and ready lights to flash.

    Why does the d9 led flash on my board

    • @backyardplus
      @backyardplus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      D9 flashing is an automatic failure of the heater relay board. You must replace it

      @@backyardplus did the trick where you solder a jumper wire on it so it won't turn the relays off because of low flow. Works like a charm again.
