Yeah, you have to consecutively press left and right on the dpad (GC/Classic Controller) or press 1+2 (Nunchuk). This technique must be done SUPER fast, yet with precise rhythm.

M2K is my favorite smasher ever. Coming from a Melee purist (I know, I know), this was actually really fun to watch. Maybe the most fun I've ever seen M2K having in a GF.

SamaraVidZ That is not a viable reason. Stocks go by faster in Smash 4 than they do in Brawl despite the recoveries. And Everyone has good recovery? Little Mac, Ganondorf, Captain Falcon, Dr. Mario, Bowser, and even Mario. The recoveries don't make the game slow and do not extend the matches by much at all simply because 9/10 kills are off the side or top and are actual kills, not ledge gimmicks.

Well thats because most people try to play Brawl like Melee (aka failing miserably) instead of playing like Brawl.
I don't know about Brawl being faster than Smash 4 (at least you can do combos in 4 unlike in Brawl where the only character who can really do combos is Meta Knight) but that was EASILY the fastest paced Brawl set I've ever seen (most of the time it's just Meta Knight vs Ice Climbers & they're both camping eachother). Yes, I know I'm replying to a 5 year old comment.

Seeing Samus in Brawl makes me appreciate how much balancing has improved. The difference between the best and worst characters in Ultimate isn't a huge margin. Hopefully Banjo and Hero don't change that. Interested to see what the future holds for the series.

@@willycheez7218 How so? I've never felt like Ultimate has impossible matches or characters that feel significantly stronger than others. Even the DLC have weaknesses and counterplay. This differs from other games like League, Sm4sh and many others where a losing MU is basically impossible to play.
@@InternetMonster1 Ganon and Mac vs the top half of the roster. Especially the top, you will hardly ever see them beat a top tier, at least a competent one. More are Piranha Plant vs Villager (unwinnable for Plant) , Corrin vs Luigi or Fox (unwinnable for Corrin), any character who isn't top tier vs Joker and Pikachu, there's a long list of unwinnable matchups

For example I was watching a Fox vs falco (which by the way is like the only characters in people use in competitive) and they were flying everywhere shooting their laser guns and it was to fast for my taste.

Someone on my universities Smash team was playing characters he doesn't use and I had to tell him about this set.
ESAM had a fine enough matchup in Pika vs MK. Playing Samus and Bowser is just giving up.
Never been a fan of Brawl, but in small amounts it definitely has it's great moments.
That first bowser stock from Esam was one of the best things i've ever seen.

One look at the thumbnail and you can tell this is gonna be a one sided match.
My brother was a huge brawl fan, and he was also a metaknight main. Living with a metaknight main for so many years will leave you a bad taste in your mouth. Eventually he understood that metakinght was beyond broken; if two players of the same skill play each other, the metaknight will always win. Unless you're diddy or pikachu or MAYBE olimar, you have no chance of winning. Thank god, he switched to Pit and playing him became more enjoyable, but watching this set brought back all the bad memories I had from Brawl. I've played Marvel vs Capcom 2, Melee, and 3rd strike. In other words, I've played some pretty broken shit in my life, but none of those games had such awful balance to the point where I thought it was unplayable. Stay dead, brawl.

Don’t underestimate a good Bowser, that’s who he should’ve used imo to start. Bowser in the right hands in straight up busted, he’s just really punishable. He is really hard to master but he is so rewarding, especially against a light weight character like Meta Knight.

Esam is the embodiment of hype this tournament. Bringing out Bowser against M2K, beating Nairo in both Brawl and Smash 4, and nearly beating Zero in winners finals of Smash 4. Not to mention his hilarious pop off when Fatality spiked with Falcon.

Peter Gillespie meta knight's start ups are much faster in brawl. If all of the top tiers from each game versed each other with their engine mechanics (having the hitstun and gravity when hitting as well) Meta knight would most likely win. He is in his own league. The brawl meta revolved around how well you could defeat meta knight.

ESAM is an awesome player, he seems so down to earth, so funny. M2K looked like he was having a blast with him.

M2K played excellent this whole tourney. I hope he puts time into Smash 4 and becomes one of the best in that game too but regardless, I'm happy to see him back on top after those hand injuries. Not sure if his hands will be ready to play Melee at his best yet but we'll see.

lmao we have wavebouncing (4-6 inputs for one wavebounce) b reverse (3 inputs) a 3 frame peach combo to death, more tech than brawl, more characters, less glitches, and no broken characters. So don't start poking fun at sm4sh when all you have is a broke character and tripping. Yay chain grabs are so fun to watch.
Sebastian Espinoza Smash 4 is only just now getting balanced out, 3DS version Rosalina was completely broken compared to almost all of the cast.
Sebastian Espinoza Lol what. Have you see the lists of different techs on smashpedia sites? It's crazy. I mean I'd play smash 4 over brawl any day, but I saw more tech in this grand finals than I do in most smash 4 tourneys (well, the ones that are streamed).
Just a few a tehcniques I recognized: QAC, Platform Cancels, edge cancels, QACs, QAC lock (though somewhat unintentional in this game), perfect pivot (lol), foxtrotting, b-reverses, various shuttle loop shenanigans, *SDI*, and of course the unique Brawl DI (which is quite different from smash 4 DI, obviously).
I'm sure smash 4 will eventually catch up to brawl when it comes to techniques like this, but come on, the game basically just came out. Think about how much time people have had to experiment with Brawl. It's only natural that there's going to be more known brawl tech than smash 4 tech at this point.

If you side b when you are just above the ground as bowser you get your double jump back, basically you can stay in the air infinitely to threat aerials or have better movement

I think this is brawl at its purest form, the Pika vs MK is a serious match, Esam loses bc Brawl, then proceeds to use Samus clearly taking the game less seriously, loses again bc Brawl (and bc he made some bad decisions on the match let’s be real), and then when he realizes victory is very unlikely, decides to use Bowser, clearly doesn’t caring about the result anymore and just having fun for the rest of the match
I think this is low key what Sakurai’s vision for Brawl was, fun for casual friendly matches, bad for serious ultra competitive play
