I keep saying to myself and to literally everyone I know: AGING IS A PRIVILEGE. We take it for granted, and have come to despise it, but we shouldn't. There are so many people who didn't get the chance to age, and we should keep it in mind.

Hence our obsession with eating healthy, crazy preventive care, etc. it’s like we go to extremes we wither a health nuts or we completely give up and go to obesity. Hi. I am seriously thinking about one of your tips-- decrease sugar intake. I had been eating LOADS of sugar and carbohydrates, which your body converts to sugar, as I understand. I noticed a change in my skin-- more fine lines, cloudy looking skin, and thickened skin. I'm getting control over my eating addiction, and I hope my skin will improve.

Just enhance whatcha got. The beauty industry counts on scare tactics and how you can’t live a full life without the whitest teeth, smoothest skin, colored hair, etc. and they are making a ton of money off those fears. I am going to start wearing sunscreen. That picture of the truck driver .....WOW. That brings home a strong message.
I have some lines. I don't try to cover them up. I don't ever wear foundation. I can't stand it. I have earned my lines.
One thing I have to share. A dear friend of mine wasn't a water drinker. (she's 3 years younger than I am). Several years ago, her face was heavily lined. I explained the importance of drinking sufficient water daily. She started doing that. The next time I saw her, months later, the change in her beautiful face was amazing. The deep lines had softened significantly !

Sixty years old and daily collagen supplementation has FIXED my painful knee joints. When I go off it (ran out, couldn't find it in the shop) my feeling of weakness and pain in my knees when climbing stairs comes back. After a few days on the collagen again, much reduced 'awareness' of my knees when climbing stairs, sometimes it's like being young again. Also my nails got much smoother and don't constantly chip and break. I haven't noticed anything special with my skin since taking collagen, but it definitely does two noticeably good things for my body. I won't stop taking it. I need to climb stairs, and collagen supplementation literally lets me live in a building without an elevator.

People who eat well, don’t need collagen.

    - Glycerin = non irritating humectant

    Collagen Stimulating

I love this anti “anti-age” comment!!! I’ve been saying this for 15 years! I’ve been an Aesthetician for over 25 years and I have never liked the term “anti-age” either! I replaced it many years ago with the term “PRO age”. This more adequately describes what we ALL are trying to accomplish! I want to age well.
Not fight it! Rather FLOW with the aging cycle gracefully but by no means without tools! No I don’t mean injectables or surgery!! Follow this true and logical skincare advice from the good doctor and you will be rewarded with a beautiful complexion you can see and feel- more importantly- if you embrace your maturity you’ll be beautiful from the inside out with your confidence glowing from your eyes!

Due to health reasons I started to cut back, and went four months completely alcohol free. After 3 months alcohol free I got constant compliments from people in my “glowing skin” and saying how much younger I looked. Everyone was asking me what I was doing differently. I drink occasionally, and when I do, I wake up puffy and red splotchy skin, eye bags, droopy eyes. It takes a toll and it does show on the skin. I hope this helps.

Love thy self by eating healthy, exercise, and taking care of your skin (face and body). My daughter has taken notice how everyone else looks versus her mother. Granted that I come from a family that age well and people never know our real ages.

I really appreciate your approach in terms of importance of sleep, nutrition and not fear mongering about the sun. I know we should all wear our 30+ SPF daily, and I do on my face, but I think it's also healthy to get 10-20 minutes of sun on your arms/legs a day depending on where you live and time of year. I wish the US would follow the same kind of recommendations Australia does regarding sun exposure.

    • @keridwenx6457
      @keridwenx6457 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I don't remember where I heard this, but I think I read somewhere that the most important sun exposure is in the eyes- we need to see strong sunlight at the correct times of day, at least for small periods of time, to regulate circadian rhythms. For absorption, independent of sunscreen, (besides the ~2% you still receive under sunscreen), you'll get sun exposure on your scalp, under your clothes, through your eyes; even more so if you go out into direct sun for a good half hour a day to have some tea. So I think you can have the best of both worlds without compromising sun protection. I appreciate your comment, because I agree and feel the biological importance of sun exposure gets forgotten sometimes after all the discussion of skin cancer and skincare! Shereen is saying be sensible, not be terrified.

Dr. Idriss, I would LOVE a video on what to expect at a derm visit. I would love to go in (24 y/o) but I feel like I chicken out for cosmetic consultations and opt to make appointments more for my dermatitis since it’s an actual issue rather than just cosmetic. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I also feel bad about bringing up ALL of my concerns in one go.

Can you record a video talking about microcurrent devices?
I was so glad to hear you saying in the end of your video that they work as long as you are compliant.
I bought a NuFace device a few months ago and I am in love with it. I truly see improvements, not sure it’s from the device itself, the instant plump I get from the serum, or just a lymphatic drainage I get. But regardless, I love it. However I see dermatologists on TH-cam saying there is no research that back it up and probably doesn’t work.

Doc, I have rosacea and I have to be specifically careful in summer and I was told by my dermatologist to always use an SPF 50 (I use Eucerin) and that I should reapply every hour or two because that's when the protection element starts to fade and it's not enough to only put an SPF cream once a day but rather a couple of times. To reapply, I always feel the need to wash my face first, so in the end, I come out as hypochondriac, washing my face a few times a day and putting the SPF and I can't stop because I believe that's the right way to do 😭
