    Thank you for your video. A lot of information to look at. I have a 2011 Jeep Liberty which is a 3rd/spare car which is not driven much. I replaced the battery 4 months ago with a new one from Auto Zone. When I was going to get it smogged this week, my scan tool was showing everything was good except for the O2 sensor monitors. I looked at a ton of videos and a lot of people stated it took forever to make ready this monitor. Just have to drive it a lot of miles to make ready the monitor they said. I did numerous drive cycles and drove quite a few miles and still it shows O2 sensor not ready. After watching you video, I checked my battery voltage with a meter and it was showing 12.5 volts. I took my "jump start" portable battery, hooked it up to my car battery terminals then disconnected the terminals from the car battery so I would not lose any of the memory, then hooked up my digital battery charger and it showed my battery being at 85%. I charged it up for about an hour until it showed 100%. Disconnected the battery charger, put the terminals back on the battery, disconnected the "jump start" battery, and the new voltage at the battery showed 12.8. Just got back from a 45 minute drive on the freeway and a little stop and go traffic driving, got home and the O2 monitors are now ready! I have to think that charging up the battery did the trick. Thank you again. I hope this helps someone out there that is having issues with the O2 sensors. It is worth a try. God Bless.

      Tried that numerous times and numerous days and it would not reset. Did as RANDOM FIX suggested and it reset right after the first time after the battery was charged. Just trying to help others try something that might work for them as it did for me. SO sorry to disappoint you as I noticed your "NOT the 1-hour charge on a 4-month-old battery" comment you made. Some people find it hard to realize none of us know everything. Helping others and being positive is what it is what it is all about. Have a great and Blessed day.

      I’m the video I cover how to look up this list of vehicles.
      Out of curiosity is the original o2 sensor in your jeep? The pre cat, o2 sensor have you ever replaced it?

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t run into just the o2 sensor not setting on diesels but on gasoline vehicles this normally caused a weak battery. Just because the battery starts the vehicle doesn’t mean it’s good. If the battery is over 2 years old or has ever needed a jump start I would test. I good battery will rest a 12.7 or 12.6 volts with the engine off after a 5 minute load from the headlights. You want to make sure there is not a ghost charge.
      Keep me posted and good luck 🍀

    had issue with my tahoe about 2 years back and couldnt set the evap or 02, turns out the 02 sensor had corrosion on the terminal, once i changed it out and cleaned the corrosion off the monitor set within 5mins of driving! Im back in the same situation with a 2015 silverado and i ordered new 02 sensors, im hoping it as well is a 02 sensor since no codes come up and only the monitors will not set! So annoying!!

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      O2 sensor monitors are just one monitor and it doesn’t let you know if it’s downstream or upstream. The o2 heater is monitor, and that component is on the upstream. So you have assume both oxygen sensors as one monitor. Hope that helps. Thank you for the feedback

    What worked for me was a disconnected vacuum line going to one of the valves to open up the butterfly in the intake manifold must've been like that for a while because the car was a little sluggish but wasn't that bad because I don't drive crazy but now the car has major pick up after I replaced that hose It was cracked in many places could be loose too but it wasn't letting my O2 sensor monitors to be ready five minutes after replace the hose I drove for five minutes and it was ready right away so I had to be there vacuum line so I can make sure all your lines are OK it's a quick and easy thing to look at feel around if you can't see... You might catch something simple I'll go for my emission test tomorrow because I already tried to go but it wasn't ready at all at least they didn't penalize they said come back in a couple days try to get your sister ready so I got a scan tool and I'm ready now

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom,
      Bmwwwwww and smog, oh boy, okay just be ready for a little work, first fix the discharge issue, I recommend disconnecting the battery for a few house to 48 hours. You may need to load the the battery and check the charging system. I would test all of this before disconnecting because if the battery and charging system are good then you don’t have to start from scratch on the drive as I think you are stating all the other monitors are ready other than o2 sensor.
      But please under a bad or even semi weak battery is going to cause all sorts of issues so if they battery and charging system are good then you want to start from scratch, disconnect the battery which helps reset all module and can fix some communications issue. Here is the drive cycle for your Bmw th-cam.com/video/mk6Tk330Acw/w-d-xo.html
      Good luck and let me know what you find.

      What worked for me is the following. At midnight when the freeway is empty I drove 8 minutes steady at 55 mph, right before exiting the freeway I accelerated to 65 mph and let the foot off gas, letting the car coast to 0 mph that was for the EVAP. I then drove around 10 minutes at 35-37 mph steady, after got on the freeway and did my o2 drive cycle which was going 65mph and letting the foot of the gas to 55mph and accelerating back up to 65mph, repeating that 5 times consecutively got my o2 sensors to set, I suppose doing something similar may help. Lastly I drove around neighborhood streets around 20-30 mph and staying idle for 1 minute at the stop signs, around 5 times. Once I got back home, I plugged in my OBD2 scanner and everything was ready and set.

    On my Mitsubishi I had the O2 sensor reading "Not Ready" status, hadn't clue what it meant (new to these OBD2 testers), so instinctively unscrewed the sensor to check its condition. looked ok to me so reinstalled it, checked my OBD2 and noticed the O2 sensor was now at "Ready" status. Maybe the sensor thread was not making a good earth, but shouldn't have made any difference since signal earth is via a wire (4 wire sensor). Worth trying if you guys have a similar problem.

      @@RANDOMFIX Yes I did, it could have been the connector, however, I had previously unclipped the sensor (not removing the Sensor) and the Sensor state was at "Not Ready" when re-clipped. I wonder if you'd be the one to do a video on what the computer is actually doing during the drive cycle. It's a dark, unseen mysterious activity that thing is doing... Maybe present it as a real time, graphic diagram situation, say with a series of labeled boxes indicating the hardware connected with lines showing connections to the computer... with readouts at the top showing what the engine is doing... Something like that... But, it's a mystery...

      Assuming your battery is perfect and the o2 sensor is original brand from Toyota. Start your Tundra with the air conditioner on plus rear defrost plus headlight and just let warm up for 5 to 20 minutes. The colder the temperature the longer you may want to warm up. The drive around 35 to 45 mph around down. Put a big electrical load on the vehicle during warm up. Your tundra is 10 years old now. Has the o2 sensor been replaced? I would check the connections as well, you need to check both pre car o2 sensors. I show it in this video for the Toyota drive cycle th-cam.com/video/EKfEr2LP2Nw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UDLXHilMBBIMKenK

      You need to set the o2 monitor. Try warming ip your nissan with ac and rear defrost running during the warm and drive around town 35 to 45 mph in city driving. Here is the nissan drive cycle th-cam.com/video/s9PLkO-CjZ8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ohpgnL_cgQDWut4I

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Does you state require an emissions test? Why would you want to cut the wire? Why not look for mil eliminator instead? It will trick the post the post cat o2 sensor to think it is working! You leave the pre cat o2 sensor as is. You will need to add the mil eliminator on the post cat o2 sensor. What are you driving by the way?

    I have a 2008 Nissan Xterra. I have used a scan tool to identify any codes and also clear them. I have been plauged with a small evap leak for a number of years. Recently, I cleared the code and brought my vehicle in for the yearly inspection. Apparently, I did not allow sufficient drive time to reset the monitors. I do notice that I have 3 monitors that show N/A..egr, hcat and air. I presume that these are not on my vehicle thus the n/a. I do not have a SEL light on, but the usual pending evap code P0456...small evap leak. Am I good to go with all of the other monitors saying OK?

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If all the monitors are complete except the n/a not applicable than you should be good however I have seen smog techs pre scan the vehicle with a basic obd2 reader and will tell you are not ready and to keep driving as they want to take a chance as the recorded pass with pending code will go with their record or they might be suspect of a bigger problem

    • @lorettacaputo6997
      @lorettacaputo6997 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the quick response. I came across info about the N/A status on the internet, but I was surprised when the tech at the garage told me that I needed to drive a few more hundred miles to go thru the complete drive cycle. I was advised by the main mechanic to keep the gas tank stuffed with fuel during the drive cycle so not to kick on the SEL light and then the auto could be rescanned. I was concerned about the n/a status and I doubted if it would ever cycle to ok. Apparently the shop has a few customers who have the same problem and this is how they deal with it at inspection time here in NYS.@@RANDOMFIX

      I won’t replace a battery without load testing it. Here is an old video th-cam.com/video/Zpe_oOUZsUs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GFdglt6Qhv0O2CfD
      And these are pretty cheap and great to have. If your battery is over 5 years old or close to it and is lead acid battery just replace as there is no need to load test.

    So I’ve driven about 800+ miles Total overall. Recently after the last reset it’s been 100 miles and everything set at 65 miles except for the o2 sensor. I’ve gone to autozone to have them check my battery and they say it’s good. My battery was replaced about a year ago. Could the battery be causing it to not set or is it the o2 sensors? Also to clarify the o2 heater is rdy, it’s just the o2 monitor itself.

    • @anthonymarquez4563
      @anthonymarquez4563 ปีที่แล้ว

      Things I’ve done.
      -Take battery off for over an hour.
      -clean Maf, Throttle Body, Intake filter.
      -Disconnected and cleaned connectors of o2 sensors. Made sure they were connected.
      - done a ton of different drive cycles. It’s driving me insane.

      It code be the o2 sensor but what are you driving? I will send you a more specific video for your vehicle. Lastly incase you do change your o2 make sure you go with oem and avoid the cheap 20 duller units.
      If you have a live data scantool you can check the live data from the o2 sensor.

      I know batteries can be expensive so you don’t need to replace every battery, just load test it, check the charging system. Here is great 20 solutions th-cam.com/video/Zpe_oOUZsUs/w-d-xo.html and i would still disconnect the battery for 1 hour even if it shows good to reset any modules that might not communicating correctly.
