This Steam Deck Grip Has A Secret...

- This is possibly the BEST Steam Deck grip available on the market, currently. Skull & Co are excellent accessory manufacturers, we've covered many of their products on the channel for the Nintendo Switch and they're a cut above the rest. Now, they've ventured into Steam Deck territory and released the GripCase SD. Naturally I had to test it out to see just how good it is.
It might sound simple because it is simple, it's just a grip case but this isn't just any old grip case... It's my current favourite Steam Deck grip case I've ever tried and that's because of what the Skull & Co one can do. It's super simple but massively effective and has a couple of features I can't live without now.
No, this is not a sponsored or paid video. We received the sample for free and our opinions are always our own.

Man, my first question was: It fits on the oficial case? They said Yes and next week they added this info in the site. Amazing Desgin
Does it fit into the Tomtoc case in this configuration? With gripcase and thumb grips?
Ended up getting this grip case because of your review! I absolutely love it. The built in stand is super underrated and unique compared to others grip case. The only thing I wish it has is a travel cover that you can snap on the front. I tested the Mod case and it's sorta fits in a pinch. Any idea if the Killswitch travel cover will also "fit"?
thank you a lot for all your Videos.. stay well mate!
You're welcome, thank you! You too!
@@128KB I would like to know does this case fit the Steam Deck Oled version?..
My girl just got me the grip case, the carry case, and the thumb stick covers all from skull and co. Super excited to try them out.
How are you enjoying them?
@@EpiKerCovers sorry for the late reply. But I enjoy mine. Some people have complained that their case is too flimsy or moveable when the deck is in it. I have not experienced that. No complaints from me!
Does the official case have a sling included?
Amazing case, I just ordered mine in purple from amazon
Slightly jealous of the purple! Good shout!
Skull & Co. are forward thinkers that truly think of every last detail. They constantly beat Satisfye to the punch, and they do it in such a clean way. Satisfye slaps their logo front, back, and side to side lol. It’s really tacky. Remember when you couldn’t dock the satisfye case for the switch and you also couldn’t use the kickstand? Then they released the “updated” version way after Skull & Co.’s
The coyote gray is def the best color fs
Wonder why my official case won’t close with the skull and co grip case on my steam deck. It’s like something is stuck in between the case but whenever I check there’s not a single thing stopping it from closing.
We're you able to fix the problem? I don't have it but I'm thinking about getting it
I bought the tomtoc carrying case and it works fine compared to the official case.
The Deck fits in the official case with little to no wiggle room. This case adds a some bulk.
it fits perfectly.. i was worried about the joystick cause a little bit tight just to find out the top case is causing to hold a little bit when you try to close it.. so this case is great ❤
That color is reminiscent of the original steam client. Nice callback.
Omg I'd totally forgotten that 🤯
I have the Skull & Co For the rog ally it is reagood and has the same stand functionality.
I just got mine! I love it! But it does fit a little too tight in the official OLED case. Did anybody else have that issue?
I just ordered mine and I just saw that it's said on the Skull&Co website that it doesn't fit inside the OLED case. I guess Valve narrowed the OLED case a little bit. It should fit in the Skull&Co case however (but +20$).
@@KeoRRRR Thank you for the reply! Its tight but works. I guess I will just use it for now.
512GB OLED here. It fits, but very snug. The top "lip" of the S&C gripcase partially impedes the hinge-side padding of the official case from closing down all the way, so it wants to sit partially open until you essentially bend it the rest of the way down to close the zipper. As far as I can tell, the sticks and buttons aren't contacting the inside of the case, though I'm sure they must be a tiny bit closer. It feels like it takes the same amount of pressure/distance of pressing in on the outside of the case to make the sticks click. The 1TB OLED models have a different case with that removable inside liner, so I would guess the fit would be even tighter or else not compatible at all on that case.
does it still fit into docks? third party or otherwise
I've got one and it doesn't fit into official dock
@@zhandarm That's a let down, thank you for telling us.
I’ll wait til you review the satisfye one coz it’s too expensive imo
Just recently Bought it off Amazon and returned it 2 days after, the material and case in general are great however there’s was some play on the grip area that just bug the shit out of me and just had to send it back. Not sure if it was the one I got or all them but the grip fitting was a bit loose to the point where there’s was play on them and I could feel it moving back and forward with the console. It sucks because otherwise great case. I just order the jsaux modcase let’s see how that one feels.
Oh damn that sucks. Thinking about it, I have an aftermarket backplate on and a skin, which could aid in mine fitting so snugly. Wish I had a 2nd stock SD to test that fit.
@@128KB now that you had your hands on 4 of the most popular ones jsaux modcase, dbrand killswitch, skull & co grip and the new Satisfye stylthgrip which one you like the best? Any chance of a comparison video coming soon lol
Hey there! Did you ever get the modcase? I’m having the same issue as you did and I’m considering getting the modcase as well. Just curious if it’s an improvement.
@@schultz4966 yup got it put it on and never looked back, fits like a glove and the top cover thing is a plus I would highly recommend
Yeah it is a cheap loose gummy plastic. It is right for the price, but it feels like a loose jelly cover on a phone
If it's anything like how I felt about the Switch grips, I'm gonna just go with the Satisfye grip for the Steam Deck. I haven't used my Skull & Co Switch grip since the day I got my Satisfye grip for the Switch. Far superior and actually ergonomic. The Skull & Co grip for Switch ended up just being a waste of money.
If you keep telling everyone it won't be a secret anymore
Damn, you're right
3:16 That's what she said...
Once it's in there, it's amazing!
Sorry, but I cannot share the enthusiasm. I bought one, and it was far too soft and lose. When holding the deck, it would constantly move and slide. Sent it back and bought one from Jsaux which is not as slick but has much better quality.
Weird, mine fits perfectly with zero movement whatsoever!
Felt the same way. It was loose on my deck that does not have decals pasted on it. It was loose on my oled deck had to sent it back.
its a product worth buying fs but not rlly optimal for backplates like jsaux's that have an extra vent, putting this case on basically ruins the whole idea of the ventilated case
But it's for the Steam Deck... it's not for an aftermarket modded Steam Deck...
the backplate is pretty much a must if u care about ur steam deck theres no reason not buy it@@null140
That extra vent reduces air pressure inside the case, meaning less airflow for everything but the APU, and it was everything else that was really roasting in the first place. Don't buy that shit.
I have not been happy with this company‘s products at all.
overheat guarantee
lol no.
Nope, I use it all the time.
