The last laps were crazy with Perez on Hulkenberg and Ricciardo on Magnussen. I was so relieved that both managed to hold their positions. Hopefully the team can keep this up.
He got into the top three in qualification beating the rest of the grid. That itself is an achievement..he drove consistently well to maintain that 3rd position else he would not have won.. Mercedes lacked the pace to fight at front . So quit complaining

Makes a mockery of the penalty system. FIA acknowledged that it was Verstappens fault yet gave him a penalty that had no impact on his finishing position despite ending Norris’s race. Mistakes still haven’t been learnt from the 2021 season.

That redbull pit stop combined with those older tyres really made the match very spicy. Both drivers raced hard and nando set the tone with the track limits and pushing max wide and max responded in typical max fashion. Entertaining race overall
Don't forget DRS. The real champion out there. I wish they would shorten it between 1 and 3. It's too long and makes it too easy, and encourages lunges. Especially given the next zone is between 3 and 4.
Absolutely agree, except technically according to the fia’s rules and Anthony Davidson (ex-f1 driver), lando actually didn’t push him off, as he was ahead at apex and never left the track and according to the rules max overtook off of the track and should have given the position back

That race had everything. I have always said that the Austrian GP often produces surprise results, as far back as the early ‘70s. Think Siffert, Brambilla, Watson, Jones and even into the 1980s with de Angelis. Not a big Russell fan but stoked for him nonetheless. Was it just me or was Oscar Piastri catching him at the end? Best race of the year, IMHO.

Max's engineer was so bad, or passive. When I saw that Lando was investigated, it was clearly a 5s penalty. He should've told Max to go easy then, let Lando pass and keep within a 5sec distance. I believe many of us were thinking the same thing when watching it.

Exactly! Both drivers fought hard and over the limit. Norris instigated this by divebombing and being aggressive, to be fair, that’s normal and fine. Verstappen did what he needs to do as a champion. Champions don’t yield, they fight back.

Yep. Sainz even swung a bit wide to open up the corner last year. Lando was driving very desperately trying to catch then fight Max. It was a race craft issue. Then the max overtaking off track, Max was ahead and both forced wide and off track.

Being a nice guy NEVER pays off man. Lando got ahead in one of the dive bombs and gave the place back. I am pretty sure he could have put 5s, IF he got a penalty, and yet they had another 12 laps to go!! Verstappen did not gave the place back when he went off the track. Hope Lando knows this, because Leclerc couldn't shake this off and we know what happens next.

My first f1 race and watching these overtakes from turn 4 and 5 was breathtaking! Grilling under the sun for 10 hours is totally worth it.

He didn't actually get fastest lap, but otherwise yeah, he didn't lose out from the contact.
Makes a mockery of the penalty system. FIA acknowledged that it was Verstappens fault yet gave him a penalty that had no impact on his finishing position despite ending Norris’s race. Mistakes still haven’t been learnt from the 2021 season.
Learned from Lewis at the Brittish Grand Prix.
Alonso got the fastest lap, but since he wasn't among the top 10, he didn't get that point. The point was lost in the outer space.

it’s surprisingly civil so far
That redbull pit stop combined with those older tyres really made the match very spicy. Both drivers raced hard and nando set the tone with the track limits and pushing max wide and max responded in typical max fashion. Entertaining race overall
Don't forget DRS. The real champion out there. I wish they would shorten it between 1 and 3. It's too long and makes it too easy, and encourages lunges. Especially given the next zone is between 3 and 4.

Absolutely agree, except technically according to the fia’s rules and Anthony Davidson (ex-f1 driver), lando actually didn’t push him off, as he was ahead at apex and never left the track and according to the rules max overtook off of the track and should have given the position back

That race had everything. I have always said that the Austrian GP often produces surprise results, as far back as the early ‘70s. Think Siffert, Brambilla, Watson, Jones and even into the 1980s with de Angelis. Not a big Russell fan but stoked for him nonetheless.

Max got a 10 second penalty for that collision, they didn’t show it here.
Max's engineer was so bad, or passive. When I saw that Lando was investigated, it was clearly a 5s penalty. He should've told Max to go easy then, let Lando pass and keep within a 5sec distance. I believe many of us were thinking the same thing when watching it.
lando was probably not even told by the team, but they are here to race and they did .Max misjudged it and it cost both of them the win

Im surprised Max gt the full blame on this 1. It was hard against hard. Norris forced Max off track 3x and no penalty. Then they collided while Max was still ahead? How is this only Max his fault???? Racing accident from both sides. But certainly not just Max. Norris was way to aggresive here with his divebombs. I dont agree with Max forcing Norris on the grass right after tho.

Still it was a very bad pit stop for Max. His lead over Norris was shrunk drastically. Things might have been different if not for that bad pitstop.

Exactly! Both drivers fought hard and over the limit. Norris instigated this by divebombing and being aggressive, to be fair, that’s normal and fine. Verstappen did what he needs to do as a champion. Champions don’t yield, they fight back.

Yep. Sainz even swung a bit wide to open up the corner last year. Lando was driving very desperately trying to catch then fight Max. It was a race craft issue. Then the max overtaking off track, Max was ahead and both forced wide and off track.

Being a nice guy NEVER pays off man. Lando got ahead in one of the dive bombs and gave the place back. I am pretty sure he could have put 5s, IF he got a penalty, and yet they had another 12 laps to go!! Verstappen did not gave the place back when he went off the track. Hope Lando knows this, because Leclerc couldn't shake this off and we know what happens next.
