Steam Deck - Perfect for Busy Gamers

- As I get older, finding time to game is becoming harder and harder. That is until I picked up a Steam Deck.
Instead of doing a tech review, I thought I'd create a video detailing why the Steam Deck is perfect for me, and how it's enabled me to find time for gaming that I couldn't find before. If you're in a similar situation, you may find this video helpful.
Let me know what you think in the comments!
(Oh yeah, this was my first time filming something like this, so please don't be mean about the reflections. I tried many positions to get it right but I clearly failed). - เกม
So this video has reached 10,000 views, and for being such a small channel, this is such a massive achievement for me. I never expected it to perform so well and receive so much positive feedback. Thank you so much to everyone who has watched it - it means so much to me ❤️
deck users are just so enthusiast that they always crave new content
Bloodborne on the toilet sounds like a medical problem you should get checked out
Hahaha, no matter how hard I try the stains won't come out

33 years old husband, 4 children. Between work and family , i m too lazy to sit behind my pc anymore, handheld are made for dad chilling on the sofa or bed after a hard day!
Same here 😂😂
You've been busy huh!!
My daughter bought a 500gb model but preferred her PC and so gave it to me. Ground breaking. I love it 🙏🏼
100 percent this.
I love my steamdeck. It's a great piece of gear. I mean playing last of us or God of was on a handheld is awesome
The part about having a reluctance to game on PC due to associating it with work is something i experience too. Wondeful video and very relatable points about the steamdeck for a common man gamer. Subbed man.
Work continues to get in the way even after it's finished 😔 Thanks so much for watching, really appreciate it!
my country is so hot, pc gaming feels like volunteered torture session. 🥵
Same here + now I've 2 little children. Of course they use the TV way more and I have to be near them so I have no choice... I have to save money and get a Steam Deck.
I feel this. I hate sitting at a desktop now...
I'm in exactly the same boat. I bought my Deck only a couple of months ago and love it so far.
I've always been a console gamer so it's nice having the perks and benefits of PC games delivered in a form factor, with a UI that clicks with me.
It's like a portable PS4 but with all the back-end tinkering of a PC.
I've got a few emulators, and fan developed mod games games up and running on there and it feels great having a "console" with so much freedom.
The Quick Resume or Rest Mode is truly a blessing without it i would not finish so many Games i want to play.
Its just instantly in the Game and Play and Pause for something else then repeat.
perfectly said! im 37 yr old with 2 daughters and busy at work i just need a little bit of gaming at the end of my busy days and steam deck is my bestfriend before i had a steam deck lcd and sell it to buy the oled version and now im fully satisfied i dont care in any brand windows handheld coz i have a gaming laptop!
I can’t stress enough how much I love the Steam deck. I too work from home and spend 8 hours at my desk. I also have a gaming PC at my desk but like you that’s the last place I want to be after 8 hours of being there. Great video! I am a huge advocate for the Steam deck for the exact same reasons you mentioned.
Thank you very much for watching and for your kind words! Feels like the deck was made for people like us!
For me, I do a bit of workaround making a remote gaming PC and connect to it using Parsec and Moonlight from my (phone+gamepad) combo. I really love this setup and will keep using it for a long time.
I'm in the exact same situation regarding my office / PC desk setup. That really hit home. Definitely helps to solidify that a steam deck will be a great addition to my gaming life as a PS5/Switch/PC owner.
nail on the head, picked up an original deck 18 months ago and it's been a game changer enabling pretty much any game I want to play at any free moment. Completely agree with the separation between work and home life as well, closing the door to that office and not going back in is a very good way to maintain that mental separation
42 yo dad of 3 kids here, management job in IT so I am eyeballing the Steam Deck (i am into Cyberpunk after a longer hiatus from gaming - other than Mario Kart with my boys) so this video is spot on for me! Definitely getting an OLED model after watching your comments and thoughts on time constrictions. Thanks! Good luck with the channel.
49 here, been working from home for 16 years, got a killer gaming PC in my office and... don't use it half as much as I should. Some of my days end up being 12 to 16 hours, so the last thing I want to do is sit in here gaming. However, my OLED Steam Deck is a different matter altogether. Living room whilst having something on TV I don't need to concentrate on that much, the garden when it's not pissing down (UK here lol), even a pub / bar at times if I've gone to one on my own just to get out of the house. And of course travelling. the deck has been an absolute game changer for sitting in airports, on 8 hour flights, on 2 hour train journeys... I almost look forward to that down time now!
Honestly can't get enough of the steam deck. Have the same issue with working at my PC all day and not wanting to play games on it in my free time, but once I got the deck my weekly hours spent actually playing stuff went from like 1 or 2 hours to at least 10. Such a great lil console that reignited my love for the medium
As someone who also works from home this really resonated with me. I grew up on consoles and have been thinking of getting my own pc but I already use my Mac for other things and I’ve teetered for months on if I should do a PC or a steam deck but when I think about the pc I wonder where else can I put it other than my office because for the same reason it’s work associated and needing that mental separation feels valuable. There’s nothing like ending the day and playing games somewhere else.
Awesome sir! I love using remote play the most on my Steam Deck!
As a corporate girlie who works 40-60 hours weekly, the Steam Deck is a godsend. Being able to game to the level the SD allows for when I can with little fuss is so good for my mental health and well being.
I'm with you there! The simple pick up and play nature of it is second to none.
Excellent video, thanks. Didnt know about remote play with the xbox on the deck. Saving up for an OLED deck and I'm pumped.
Thank you! I hope you don't have to wait long 😁
I just subscribed. I really enjoyed how you just gave an opinion on a product and explained why. So many videos just tell me the specs and other stuff I can read about!
Thank you so much, I'm really happy you enjoyed the video :)
Wonderful video, and I pray that my internet can handle my remote play dreams when my deck arrives later this week!
One of us! One of us! I hope you enjoy the deck, your gaming experience is about to get so much better! Thanks for watching 😁
This is a great experience review - thanks for sharing! It brings real scenarios to life for the average person that is realistically trying to play while also managing a life 🤓 really valuable insights, great job!
Thank you so much! 😁 Really happy you enjoyed it!
well said, i'm glad to see another deck head joins the gang. Welcome brother!
Seeing Sonic games in your background made me instantly sub! :)
A fellow sonic fan! Thanks for the sub 😁
I love to hear that you're playing Chrono Trigger! That's my favorite game of all time. Enjoy it!
welcome home my friend
The Steam Deck is perfect for some downtime gaming. I got my OLED model last month and I keep it right by my bed and chip away at some pokemon games. It's perfect for a nice evening in to play some games on the couch. I also recently got a dock and a bluetooth controller so I can plug it into my TV and my girlfriend and I play games from the couch. It's really a console that does it all, you can even plug in a Mouse and Keyboard to turn it into a portable gaming PC. If you're willing to tinker with it a bit (or enjoy that kind of thing like I do) you can really get just about anything working on this system and it's WELL worth it.
I love the fact that Steam Deck is largely "no compromise" emulation device for me. All I want to play - I have on my ydeck. No more setting up emulators, controls, hotkeys. Like you said - it's more akin to a console than a PC and I love that.
The "PC to play" block is exactly the same I've felt for years. Good to know there are other that feel the same. In my case, I am waiting for the inevitable Switch "2" and Steam Deck 2 whenever that happens. It'll be the best combo in my opinion.
Bro I have been out of the gaming world for 10 years and as soon as I got my Steam Deck oled, my gaming life has revived again ! Coming from someone who has his own shop to run I’m glad I picked this over a gaming laptop. It’s just too convenient! This video sums it all!
That's amazing to hear, so happy your gaming passion has been reignited! Welcome back! 😁
So tempted to get one now they have an oled version... miss my switch and been debating grabbing one of these instead
It's not weird, a lot of people have said that playing the PC in the office has become an issue since working from home, there's actually research that says you should move rooms too. That was focused on living room working though and if a "dedicated work space" helps.
Great video bro - love my oled!
Thank you! 😁
Love this so much, I work from home and have a gaming PC as well and I didn’t want to sit in the same spot that I work in after a full days work shift. It’s just so mentally draining. So happy I got my Steam Deck and able to play all these emulator games without buying a janky emulator.
Thank you so much :) glad you're enjoying the deck. It's unlocked gaming time I never thought I'd have! And that's super important to me.
Ive been thinking about this since it came out but haven’t pulled the trigger. I played my switch for years but finally put it down as its been slowing down each year i play it and add games, plus nothing has come out to lead me back to it. Once the Playstation Portal came out i already saw the potential and preordered that asap and have yet to regret my purchase. However now with the steamdeck oled model out that has peaked my interest once again. I know with my luck as soon as i buy the oled model, Steamdeck Pro or Steamdeck 2 will aill be announced.
Mate, you sound like me. Great review
I've played the entire fallout series on the deck, Witcher 3, god of war, and have moved on to Skyrim been awesome so far
i'm kind of in the same boat. I'm tired of my desk and after a long stressful day at work, I want to play stuff laying down in a different room.
I wanted to get a fancy GPU at first, but then realized that I won't be playing more, since it would imply sitting at my desk. So I just got an oled deck, which is a whole computer that was cheaper than the GPU and I've been playing a little bit every day and loving it!
I'd say it's perfect for busy adults. We have fond memories of older games anyway so those will run flawlessly and the battery will last a lot.
I've been having a blast playing through fallout new vegas, it's running at 90fps on full details. But even better, by restricting it to 60hz and 8W tdp, you can play it for 7 or even 8 hours if you're indoors reading terminal logs!
I know my way around computers, but I'm not messing with the desktop mode yet. Just cause I could use it doesn't mean I don't want a quick and painless experience, and the deck is just that. I cannot believe I can hold my childhood games in my hand, the little kid inside me is in pure awe
Nice review! Definitely interested in the OLED. How do you have Nintendo games on there, like Starfox64 and Zelda? Did you have to do extra work to run homebrew emulator ROMs? I'd have to look into that and do more research. I bet 007 Goldeneye would be awesome on the Deck! I wonder if you can get old NES and SNES games too. Also, what FPS is that at @1:33 ? One of the newer Wolfenstein games? What game at @4:55 ? Thanks!
GREAT review
Thank you!
2:21 Some GameCube games have widescreen hard patches! You should try them! TTYD also has a nice HD texture pack.
Oooh!? Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely look into this!
Environment being important is absolutely not weird. Environment is everything.
'Don't shit where you eat' as they say
Yep. Other than spots of Rocket League, my gaming life had died before Steam Deck released. Now I'm back to playing every day, with more variety and more generations than ever before. Steam Deck is the device and gaming experience that I've been dreaming of for my entire gaming life. The OLED is so beautiful, too 😍
If I hadn't already bought an OLED, this would have pushed me to make the purchase. And pretty much for all the same reasons.
With my career I work 30 to 60 days straight at a time then I’m off the same amount of days. And I’m a huge gamer while I’m home this steam deck was made for me! While I’m gone I don’t have internet 90% of the time and I don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars a month for portable Wi-Fi or a hot spot so the steam deck is a miracle for me as a huge gamer traveling all the time and away from home for a month straight or more. I am so appreciative of the steam deck.
This is incredible! I wish I had watched this video before, I’ve just purchased my Steam Deck 3 days ago and I’m mesmerised! I am a teacher so I have tons of work at home and at school so I have the same issue with my PC and all regarding my desk, so this is such a nice way to have fun and have 0 relationship with work! The same happens with me, reading for school and college makes me avoid reading for pleasure sometimes. Although I like my Steam games, I bought because of emulation and oh golly, best purchase ever!!! If you love emulation, go for it! Best option! ❤
Thank you so much, super happy you enjoyed the video! It's been amazing connecting the like-minded people. The struggle of balancing work and pleasure is so difficult but the steam deck really does help. Glad you're enjoying emulation on it, it really does feel like the possibilities are endless!
I have my steam deck for older games and some new ones and I have a ROG ally for games like Starfield and other AAA games. great combination. I spend most time on my PC lately then it's the ROG ally and then my steamdecks. But they are all great.
While I love the steam deck and the rog ally, what kinda makes it a deal breaker for me(less on the ally) is the sheer size of it. If it was maybe 30% smaller and more compact, I would've definitely kept mine. I traveled for 2 months around asia with the ally and while it was much more compact than the deck I previously had, It was still somewhat a hassle to lug around as it takes a lot of space for backpack traveling, my whole day sling was taken by the ally, and the deck would easily take 50% of my backpack space due to the gigantic case it comes with and, on that department, the switch is still unbeatable.
The size almost ruined it for me. My brother has one and when I was considering it I took a look as his and kept walking. But the more I thought about it the more I realized there really wasn't a better option. I had a couple of small Retro handhelds under a hundred bucks, but they were just "okay" and whatever was on the horizon wasn't coming for a long while and would like be just as big or more expensive. I'm used to the size now. I make allowances for when and where it's appropriate, where it isn't I have the smaller pocketable devices.
New sub, great video!
Thank you! :)
I'm on the fence about building a pc or getting the steam deck. I travel and also don't always have time. I do have a switch, but there's a void it can't fill because its not too powerful, so I tend to limit game purchases to first party exclusives. I could use something like the deck because it is more powerful and portable. Then again, a PC would also be nice.
Any issues using a wireless controller when gaming to a TV? I'm having issues with tbe Steam Deck with wireless controllers, especially with rumble on. I'm using xbox series controllers.
Steam deck is my favorite way of playing games
Got 2 512gb models for 575 dollars from the pawn shop. So far, I've abandoned the switch and regular console gaming. It's wonderful going anywhere with it
was hoping to get one but one thing that stops from getting it is the software update and drivers if using it during a gaming session...
That's a weird reason, since you can schedule updates to only happen at a certain time and disable updates during games.
As someone who’s a ps5 main, I’ve been eyeing the steamdeck since I’m hardly home to play my ps5, I sold my Xbox series s since I hardly touch it and only played halo and seeing halo is on steam deck I sold to put it towards a steamdeck. I do wanna get the OLED
I think the deck is perfect for every kind of gamer, it really does offer something for everyone. If you get one, let me know what you think! 😁
I am the opposite with work from home. I work in my play space so it's hard for me to get work done lol
I played halo for a whole month; i accidentally turned hdr on and omg my life wasn’t the same anymore👀
I have had so many problems with this consol. Its ridiculous websites don't work stuck in offline mode. Even though I'm connected to the internet, ect, I had to power wash it 2 times
Hi! Can you possibly write what games are you playing on this video please? (Both steam library games and retro)
Yes of course! Here you go:
Pokemon Fire Red
Bloodborne
Chrono Trigger
Crow Country
Death's Door
Dishonoured
Dredge
Elden Ring
God of War Ragnarok
Half Life 2
Lies of P
Metroid Fusion
Minish Cap
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
Planet of Lana
Short Hike
Sonic 1
Solar Ash
Starfox 64
Tomb Raider
Tunic
Ultros
Vampire Survivors
Wolfenstein 2
I think that's all of them... Let me know if you want to know the name of a game at a specific second in the video!
Much larger gaming library than the Nintendo Switch, I will be switching too the Steam Deck. Just wish I could find the Steam Deck OLED used 😣
Does remote play use up your data from your service provider? Or is it only via a local area network with your Router and Steam Deck?
The latter! As long as your home internet is good, you shouldn't have any problems. A wired connection to your console is preferred, but I just use WiFi and it's been fine!
@@Harvesquire Thank you! Gonna test it out on my Steam Deck!
Chiaki4Deck can also stream games that support HDR on the PS5
Which is something the PS Portal cannot do cause it's display is not HDR compatible
Another reason to get a deck instead of a portal! I can't believe the portal isn't HDR compatible, seems like a major flaw.
@@Harvesquire IKR, and its also just a 60Hz display, so it cant take advantage of the PS5's HDR or High Refresh Rate :/
Nice video! :) and what is the game at 0:45 ? it looks really fun :)
Thank you so much! That's Dredge :) awesome game
what are these games' name? thanks man. Very good review indeed!

Thank you for your kind words 😁
First one is Death's Door, second one is Tunic. They're both amazing games!
@@Harvesquire i've never into casual games so much like this until getting my SD OLED
It’s perfect for low end graphic games. Don’t expect to play anything modern though
Getting a Steam Deck really got me back into PC gaming after moving to Xbox for a few years. Valve really struck gold here.
I'd love a list of all the games shown in this video
One list coming right up!
Pokemon Fire Red
Bloodborne
Chrono Trigger
Crow Country
Death's Door
Dishonoured
Dredge
Elden Ring
God of War Ragnarok
Half Life 2
Lies of P
Metroid Fusion
Minish Cap
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
Planet of Lana
Short Hike
Sonic 1
Solar Ash
Starfox 64
Tomb Raider
Tunic
Ultros
Vampire Survivors
Wolfenstein 2
please, what is the game where you seem to be 3d platforming and surfing through sand?
That is Solar Ash :)
@@Harvesquire thanks a lot :)
You can literally play almost anything. I’ve emulated almost any console you can think of, Minecraft’s not on Steam but you can still play it on here. Elden ring is a perfect example of what this thing is capable of. I highly recommend it
I love my steam deck so much 😭 ill have it for 10 yrs 😂 all my consoles last 10 yrs with minimal care
Do you feel like you find yourself fumbling with the game settings frequently to get games to run well? Or any disappointment in the fidelity coming from console? I don’t have a PC but you described my need for this 😂
No, not really! I mostly play older games, or newer indie games that aren't demanding. I've never had to fiddle around with the settings for what I play. Valve have a 'Deck Verified' label on the games if they run well. And no, no disappointment with the fidelity. I think you'd be disappointed if you played the latest Triple-A games, though.
7:12 hey man, blur is not destructive you should just use a black bar when censoring something in the future, great video though!
Thank you for the tip, appreciated!
I also love the idea of the steam deck, but unfortunatly it's way too uncomfortable for me to use. I have very big hands, can't find a handheld that is comfortable and don't cause hand pain. Every time i pick it up, i play for 30 minutes and go straight back to my pc.
Hi, which steam deck version are you using?
Hello! It's the 500GB OLED
What's the name of the app to play Xbox remotely and xbox game pass?!
I use xbplay, you can find it on steam :) there are others available but I don't know their names
Oh my lovely steam deck, my 15 minute gadget
What do you do for a living
What is the game at 4:58?
Solar Ash :)
Isn’t it possible to remote play your Steam games over the internet? It should be. Having your pc run the games would give you much better performance and battery life
It is! I haven't tried it, but I think it's very easy to do. I never play any recent demanding games on my deck though so I haven't had the need yet.
1:15 Can someone tell me what game is that? Please
Lies of P :)
Real tempted to sell my Switch for this.
Bro don't overthink this, hand held PC are just amazing (I am not on the steam deck personally but on the ROG Ally) and the possibilities are just unlimited I have a 1 terra blend of steam library and roms !
Highly recomment :)
do it and just use a switch emulator if you want to play switch games
Just get the steam deck, I gave my switch to my daughter since I bought it, with the steam deck you have a game library bigger than all consoles combined at your fingertips, it's a no brainer, just get it and don't look back, Noone regrets it, this device is the future of gaming
Don't get me wrong, the Switch is still an amazing system with incredible games you can't get anywhere else. But the possibilities the deck brings feels endless, I'm finding new things to do with it every day.
I sold my switch to get steam deck for at GameStop 512gb $329
Can you mod games on the steamdeck?
It’s technically a PC so yes you can
2:25
No worries.
You have Skyrim, Portal... and Half-Life 2!
If you're gonna play only a few games on PC, you chose wisely at least.
XBPlay 👍👍
If you are busy and have little time to spare to game, Steam Deck is not the way to go. I sold my Steam Deck because of this. After leaving it in rest mode for a few days, the battery was drained. So i had to sit near a charger. Too bulky to take with me on a train ride to work. And when i finally got around to play a new game, i had to tinker with settings for a while. As a busy person anything pick-up and play is more suited.
Anyone know if you can play fallout on the steam deck?
Head over to protondb.com and you'll find out which games run well on the deck!
What's the game at 3:31?
Death's Door. Amazing game!
Oo thank you!! looked a little like Hyper light and I've been looking for something similar @@Harvesquire
Due to how mobile my work is the steam deck has been my most played console.
SteamDeck is the best thing 😳
3:03 what's that game?
Deaths Door :)
@@Harvesquire wow, I’ve got it on Ps Plus but never played. This was the first time I saw gameplay of it. Just wish I had the Deck now to play on it, because it looked awesome on it
i have sd and lego. if you willing to put whole day of your life to properly set up lego its a beast and for me its better than deck but still deck is a goat
I was fighting for my life to NOT buy one because I have 3 kids, and I am a business owner - so I would probably have 3 minutes a day to play 😂
But this video did it for me.
One of us! One of us!
i sold my Lego for SD lcd + switch
1:34 game name?
Wolfenstein 2: the new colossus
Nao entendi nada, fala muito rápido. Gostaria de ter um deck mas é muito caro ainda 😢
😎😎😎😎
Ruusellll my duuuuuude
Loved the video. 💀 💀 💀
Thank you!
Y'know, it IS possible to use your PC on the TV if you really want to
So you want him to move his PC from his office to the living room every single day?
GeForce now is awesome on the deck
If steams allow riot valorant means i will buy or else i wont

Another small channel boosted by a steam deck purchase... 😁🎉
