We had a 76 Ford LTD country squire station wagon when I was little. Lots of good times! Busted my head on the back flip up seats...dad drove me to the fire station where they stitched me up quick. I even learned to shuffle cards in the back on a trip. It always smelled like vinyl and grease in that car. Ahhh. Such good memories

Lance and Wyatt i can’t tell you how much I enjoy the videos that you produce. They take me back in time when these kinds of cars ruled the roadways.
But more importantly, is how you present the work you are doing to it. I can almost follow and understand, and it’s because you take the time to explain what you are doing to try and bring these cars back to life.
God bless you both and I hope the good Lord gives you all the success on your future projects and protects you both.

    1972 Ford station wagon
I remember my grandpa had an old station wagon
It was a three on the tree.
1972 I was seven years old.
I remember ridding in the back of his station wagon.
    And he was shifting gears.
Once again you three rock this channel.
Keep up the great work you do.
May God bless Each and Everyone of you.

Great video👍🔧 This brings back memories, my dad had a white 1973 LTD station wagon, all blue interior with 429 4 barrel, it was a smooth ride with tons of power on the open highway, sounded like a cop engine when you got on it . My dad called it his "JET" 🚀

Accel super coil. 90s stuff there. We had a station wagon when I was kid. Had the rear facing rear seat. Looking back that thing was a Christine of sorts. Riding down a 2 lane road that was almost even with a river, one of the rear tires just popped off. I was sitting in the rear facing seat. All I saw was sparks. In my head we were headed for the river. Dad kept that from happening. Windshield wiper arms flew off in a storm one night. The final nail in the coffin was when we were driving along and the timing jumped and sent fire out the carb. All we could do was pull over, get out and watch it burn to the ground. Crazy car.

What a find. Growing up in Australia everyone with kids had a station wagon. Nearly all were just 6 cylinders, we didn't have many V8s on everyday purpose vehicles. Nowadays there's hardly any from this era left and those that remain are generally fully restored & sell for big money. We had mainly Holden Kingswood & Ford Falcon.

I had one in high school! Green with a white top. Everyone called it the green hearse. 400 engine and 60k on the odometer. The green cloth interior still had the factory plastic covers on it when I got it. I think green was a staple color for the interiors back then. I had 3 Fords and 2 Pontiacs with green interiors. It reminds me of my grandfather and great-grandfather teaching me about 40 years ago.
Thank you for all the fond memories!

Missed the live feed...but I am really impressed with how solid this car seems to be. I know I'm only hearing it run on my phone but it seems to be rattling pretty hard. Excited to see where this ends up. As for what I'd do with it? Knock the dents out...repaint and redo the interior. This kind of thing reminds me of my childhood. Having a stock spec or close to it wagon like this would be awesome.

Ford used the juice cans for vacume cannisters for a long time. It helped supply vacume for anything that needed it besides the brake booster and vacume advance. Speaking of that, if you hook up the advance on the distributor it will run much better and probably idle.

I LOVE these big old "yank Tanks" as they used to call them in the UK when I was growing up. From a time when bigger was better. When we moved to New Zealand in the early 80s my dad bought an Australian Holden Kingswood Station Wagon with wide bench seats and a column shift. I learned to drive in that bug hulking thing and they're rare as hen's teeth now and worth a fortune. Wish we;d kept it!

This was a fun video. Sure would love to see a follow-up. That big ol' carb prolly has a lot of junk in it, as well as a lot of stuck bits (surely the float). The 400 sounds healthy. Galaxie/LTD models from the early 70's all pretty much use the same hood hinges; in TX, I'm sure they could be found in some boneyard on the cheap.
Once you clear out all the stuff in the back seat, you can drop it flat, open all the doors for good ventilation, and crawl back and carefully pull on the rod that opens the side latch at the passenger side of the tail gate so she opens like a door (don't need the window down). This model does not have facing seats, but it has a rear storage compartment near the gate and a third row that faces to the rear (my old baseball coach drove one). Many blessings!

Base model was called Ranch Wagon and next up was Country Sedan then Squire. Squires came with the woodgrain sides and upgraded interior. Because it has been a long time since these cars were out I may have the first two cars reversed. Could be Country Sedan, Ranch Wagon then Squire. Not totally positive.

Campbell Ky, I forgot I had CQ that night and was in Nashville,I shot between 75 and 100 mph all the way back and got there,The next morning tried to fire it,I ended up blowing the timing chain and gears out of it due to low oil pressure,It had a 351 Windsor in it,I thought I had fried the engine,Put the new gears and chain in and drove it for another year before selling it to somebody else when I went back to Europe for my final tour of duty,Those wagons and especially the 351 windsor's are bullet proof.

My family had a 1971 Country Squire. Same as this but had the wood siding. Yellow with black interior.
We didn’t have much money back then so our vacations were dragging a pop up camper around during the summer. We’re on vacation going south from DC and with my brother, two sisters, my mother, father, me and my mother’s two small poodles. My father hated to have to stop at every rest stop so everyone could go to the bathroom, so he kept a plastic bowl under the front seat.
I was “in the way back” and had to go. My dad passed the bowl back and I knelled up and went. I asked my dad “what do you want me to do now?”
Just then, he hit the rear window button up front and the rear window started going down.
With the camper pulling behind and the wind spoiler from the roof rack, when I tossed the contents of the bowl out, a half second later, a fine mist of pee came back and covered the inside, including my brother, two sisters, mom, dad and the two poodles, along with the interior and the front windshield.
My dad pulls over and comes running back yelling “what did you do? I was pulling over for you to pour it out!”
That was the only time we got a hotel room while on vacation. Everyone took a shower and the two poodles got a bath. That night, my dad spent several hours wiping the interior down.
The family talked about that for years!

My parents had a 1971 Country Squire wagon - their first new vehicle. The car started rusting out so badly within a year or two that we couldn't sit in the way back anymore, and we could stick our fingers through the body cancer that was forming everywhere. (Ours was white and had the green interior too, but it had the imitiation woodgrain on the sides.)

I like that station wagon a lot probably more than anything else you’ve done before. I’m also just looking at the vista cruiser because you got me thinking about that car which is nice.

Keep the stance, fix the kinks in the outer body, muscle car it up, repair the upholstery and carpet. Make it my every day drive. My oldest sister had a ford station wagon with the two seats in the back facing one another. Loved that car. ❤️❤️

I would put an air ride system on it. Some nice looking stock type of wheels, painted red and have small center hubcaps with the thin beauty rings, so y'all can still see the red wheels. Oh, and make sure that the rear tires are wide, fat ones. Maybe a thin set of red pinstripes down the length of the wagon. A couple of old, cool looking suitcases up on the roof rack 😎. Also place 2 peace sign decals on it, at the back corner of the rear side windows ✌️😆🙄😳🤣😂

@@RESTORED-HOPE True. I knew it didn't have plugs in it as soon as you spun it over but to say it sounds low on compression was pretty funny. ;-)

That's Campbell's Vacuum Soup. Just evacuate and serve. The fun part is going to be sealing up the vacuum leaks - especially the intake manifold. I did a '72 back in '81. 9 passenger. Thing wagged like a dog going down the highway. Used it a few times, just by using nylon screening and magnets, as a refuge for when it rained (we'd come in from the tents if it got too bad). It's running on gas - and the Vacuum Monster has raised its' ugly head.
Well - you got it running. Someone will want to chase through the carb & vacuum systems (and put some advance on that HEI distributor through vacuum). Good work.
