That's what makes the show all these other videos with the foul language is going to be gone not soon enough but it will be because people are hungry for wholesome shows that we can watch with our sons and daughters. And my wife and I can sit down and enjoy a good clean-cut video. When they use the foul language they're simple-minded foolish people that can't think of a good clean script.

Question for you. What was your preference to work on between Ford, Ram and GM gas trucks. With your experience what poison would you pick to own? They all have there issues but which one would you pick? Cheers.

I've had several of these trucks - a '95 gas 1/2 ton 5.9l 360 ci automatic trans short-bed 2wd, a '97 12 valve diesel extend cab 3/4 ton long bed automatic 4wd, a '97 12 valve diesel extend cab 1 ton long bed automatic 4wd and an '01 24 valve diesel quad cab 3/4 ton long bed 6 speed manual trans 4wd. Some things I can tell you about these 2nd gen Dodge trucks: 1) it is best to have a cheater pipe on the ratchet when loosening the oil drain bolt 2) the fuel gauge sender is in the gas tank and is known to go bad, resulting in having to guess at the fuel level 3) with the pre-'98.5 diesel trucks, which came with the 12 valve Cummins you will want to keep the valves adjusted; with 98.5+ diesels valve lash is hydraulic and more or less self adjusting 4) The contacts in the starter go about 100k miles then have to be replaced, which isn't too hard. I haven't finished the video yet, but will keep watching and call out anything else helpful that I can think of. Good luck and enjoy your Dodge truck!

The transmission weren't bad, they had a bad transmission cooler design that killed the automatic. Heat is the number one killer of a automatic. You put a good cooler on it,you won't have any problems.

Some cooler lines also have a check valve, if it sticks shut, oil wont flow through the cooler, that can kill a good trans.

    • @scottdowney4318

I've replaced many of the ''dodge'' parts but have never put a wrench on the engine. One of the best engines ever put into a pickup you're going to love it. These trucks are apart of my child hood! My real dad and his stepdad had some of these trucks and they were also diesel. My grandpas dad had bought a brand new 94 ram 1500 Laramie 5.9 318 magnum back in 1994 and it’s still in our family today. A matter of fact we went down to pick it up from la grange Texas from my great grand pas house back in April and drove it all the way to Houston for a Rolling Stones concert than back to Fort Worth. It runs and drives great and is actually pretty fun to drive. We will be restoring it very soon. Brings back alot of memories to back when my real dad and his stepdad had his 2nd gen rams like this.

I myself have a 94 dodge. That oil plug definitely looked like someone killed that thing. With the transmission leak, I'd say just do a full service. New fluid, new filter and new gasket. When I did mine I also used a little rtb gasket maker as well. Haven't had any problems. But honestly that pickup looks super clean, where as mentioned prior the clear coat tends to disappear. Also if I may, it can hold 13 quarts of oil with one in the filter, tends to run a little cooler that way as well

I mainly work on the classic Mercedes, which i know better than the back of my hand and more so the diesel's. NOTHING beats the clickly-clack of a old Benz diesel, that's what a real diesel sounds like. LOL Y'all are starting to learn the ropes about diesel's, the old ones are so simple to get running and maintain it's crazy. My 1991 350SDL was the last Mercedes to be EMP proof!! ZERO electrical shut down or start except the starter motor, all vacuum or mechanical operated. If it spins over it will run. Mercedes even put a rear transmission pump in them so you can roll start it!! I have 6 Benz's, 4 are diesel's and i love each and every one them. Keep up your GREAT family made video's, y'all are fun to watch and listen to while i'm hard at work in my shop.

That poor little lady... I have my daddy's 1993 s10 Tahoe with a 4.3L v6 that I have been restoring since he passed away in 2013. I drive it more than I do my Honda accord that I spent over 3 years and 20 grand on a sound system. Lol I love my daddy's truck. I definitely felt her pain.

So I worked at a gas station in NJ back when these came out.. one of my customers got one of the very first ones and threw a snow plow on it. First time out plowing he hit a snow bank (as you do when plowing), and got a face full of airbag. He was ticked.... they had the truck at the dealership for weeks because they could not get a new bag from Dodge and he lost almost a full season of plowing.

Seems like Chrysler was always like that, hard to get parts for.

Good boys it's an engine lol oops my fault. When my boss was teaching me years ago, I made the mistake of calling it a motor. He ranted and raved and I never forgot, That was back in about 1988 Adelaide South Australia

Then why are they called motor mounts and not engine mounts?

Yep... back in 1978 my high school auto instructor would deduct points from our grade every time we called an engine a motor. Guess what, now it erks me when other people say it, lol...
