    A fantastic piece of kit conceived by a genius. You make it in your garage with no welding or expensive bearings. I made the first one (see PBO Sept 2014) and that was from plans before the kit was available. It is worth the effort just to sit and watch the invisible helmsman take you anywhere in any conditions. John Fleming is friendly and helpful which means you can complete the project. To use it, set the boat up reasonably balanced, set the vane angle to the wind and off you go for as long as the wind lasts. The best thing on my yacht.

    Nice to see you're wearing a safety harness there John. Very sensible. One slight problem though :-)

    It looks a bit light to me. How would it fair in a gale?

      It fairs well. It is designed not to "fight" the waves in any way. The swing of the pendulum blade in the water is not limited in any way, which otherwise would cause breakage.

      Looks brilliant to me
