He can't. The TE OP is only on loan for him but I wish he would get the chance to do it.

This is such an incredible piece of engineering. Looks 95% toon accurate. The materials feel great with weight in all the right places. This is the prime we have needed for a while now. This is MP-44s only competition.
A SDS would be helpful add mp 10 too. I'm not much into cartoon accuracy but i'm interested in the TE 01. Because it is so clean in both modes. It seems to have done something none of the others did made it more cartoon while making the vehicle mode more realistic.
I like that you dont see his waist on th back of the cab, like primorion. That's a beautiful action pose. Yes please, I can use some followup. The prime war is likely the biggest thing this year we know of.

TE's new head definitely makes this the definitive Masterpiece Optimus Prime. It looks like the MP-44 head!
Optimus never had the yellow triangle and stripes on his forarms in the cartoon
A sit down Saturday with the 2 third party Primes and a MP-44 discussion would be great. For those of us still waiting for MP-44 and looking for a 3rd party alternative since takara is going toon accurate in their new MP line.

I have to say, the way the legs morph from the cartoon stylized roundness to the straight flat trailer wheels in pretty damn impressive. The missing paint apps, especially the yellow on the forearms and silver on the shins is a stand out. But at $120 to $140, I'm pretty impressed. And it comes with a trailer hitch!
@webzpinner Doesn't mean I still don't want it as a paint application. If this is to replace a Masterpiece product, I want the details. Plus, if you are going to show that arrow design of MP10, you better be ready to paint it. Otherwise don't do that detail.
kalron27 but the arm detail is red in the G1 and Beast Wars cartoons, as well as the comics. Is SUPPOSED to be red. You can’t even call it an animation error because he never even had them colored once in the cartoons. That was a made up painted detail for the MP01, which had tons of errors on it. Same with the silver vents in the legs. Those have ALWAYS been blue. G1 cartoon, comics, etc. so you are demanding inaccurate to everything details. While you are at it, would you like them to sculpt a mouth on Prime? How about flames? Your desires aren’t any more accurate than what Michael Bay did.
@@tmarble4639 WTH is it with you people? I'm an old school G1 collector, yet here you are berating me for simply asking for some paint detail. I understand that it isn't "cartoon" or "OG figure" accurate, but some paint to break up the monotony isn't a big deal. Obviously Hasbro figured that out with the MP10 and it makes for a better figure to display. Christ, you immediately peg me for a Bay-former fan just for some simple detail. And if you actually read my comment, I am impressed with the figure. GFYS.

This is about to be my first MP figure! I'm very excited
It's interesting to see the different approaches to the chest windows. The new MP turns the chest inside out to give the wide-eyed chest but narrower truck windows; MS chose narrow; TE have chosen wide.
I think MP10 has got me used to narrow windows so the TE looks off to me, even though I know it isn't.
I think they did a fantastic job compacting the legs to give a flatter back end to the truck.
Overall, I think they did great but I'm glad I bought the MS one.
The spudger is starting to grow on me, I used to think it was silly but, now I'm starting to feel like maybe I want one!

It's a strange one. I prefer the Magic Square robot mode, (TE-01s head is just...off. The eyes are too far apart and look sharkey), but I prefer this for truck mode. It's a tough decision when I just want one...

This is already a better transformation than mp44. This one's chest ACTUALLY is the truck windows.

Do a sit down Sat, but you dont need to go DEEP as with hot rod situation. Do it nice and easy.
Yeah please do a SDS (sit down saturday) on the two figures but if possible bring in mp-10 and your thoughts compared to mp-10

Great video. I was curious how you would feel about the transformation process against the engineering: whether it would be frustrating or rewarding for you. I tend towards the cartoon accuracy so I really love this piece; perfect rendition on both modes. If it had Magic Square's full range of articulation (particularly the waist) it would have been perfect.
I had both ms lof and te 01. I chose to keep my te. The weight, material, hand design, proportions (chest is smaller and legs are longer), and matrix compartment sold me. Magic square only has the ab crunch and head design in TE.

Comparison video pls! I'll buy it! :D Regarding the company, for some reason in tfsource this unit is categorized under Generation Toys, so I thought this was a brand like perfect fusion was to fanstoys... but I'm speculating. :) This one looks good, and it seems is better built than the MS, but there is something about how the other looks (specially the sculpt) that makes me prefer it over this one. I haven't made my mind yet so the comparison video would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the review!
He is a marvel of engineering and execution. I love my Magic Square though. I feel great about picking him up.

Great review! I have both this and Magic Square and it doesn't have the throw about poseability of MS but its heft, clean modes and fantastic transformation (especially the legs!) really blew me away! Would really like to see a sit down Saturday even if I already have them both!:)

I think magic square Optimus prime is a hybrid between cartoon and mp-10. I have a magic square ordered but I really want to jump on this one as well. I really love the toon look. Great vid Bobby!!👍🏾
Nice review as always! FYI, the alt mode bumper is much easier to insert if you move it into place (into almost its final position) BEFORE you rotate the legs up. Then there’s plenty of space.

They are making him more Animated accurate. I like that, even though that’s been done to death.
Thanks for the review. I just picked this up on eBay. Although I will keep him in Bot Mode, TE-01 has the best Truck/Cab mode. With Magic Square and MP-10 you see his pelvis in Truck mode which ruins the illusion of being a truck while Transform Element nailed it.

I would definitely love to see you give a comparison with Magic Square the same treatment you did with the Hot Rods. Both of these figures dropping at the same time is one of the most interesting things going on in this hobby right now. Strike while the iron is still hot!

Definitely seems like a fun, generally well-made figure. Agreed that it could do with more (painted) detail to make it less cartoony, but that's obviously not what it's going for.

While refreshing it doesn’t transform like prime usually does, it seems like a bit of a bear for little reason. I applaud the designers, but a bit much. I have no interest in getting most of the figures lately but still enjoy watching and learning about them. Thanks man and best to ya!
I'd like to see a SDS on these two. I've been wanting the Magic Square version for a long time, but the TE version does have a few things I like as well (even if the transformation seems a bit Bad Cube explody at times). The comparison would be extremely helpful.
A Sit Down Saturday comparing the two would be epic. Meanwhile...this joker is taller than MP36!? Didn't see that coming...that actually kinda sucks, Megatron should be a little taller than Optimus.
I'd definitely be interested in SDS with these 2 as a subject. I do LOVE the truck mode but the front windows look too big to me but that is toon accurate. I feel like his legs are a little skinny and the face sculpt, to me looks a little too 'off. It like if you could take elements from these 2, and smoosh them together I feel I'd have the perfect Prime but that's just my taste.

Crazy how clean the alt mode is on TE 01 compared to the mp 44 pics in its alt mode. Have you seen the back of the truck on MP 44?? Oy...Anyhow great vid. Cheers!

I'm in the waiting for MP-44 crowd (which is small, but hey) If I wasn't getting MP-44, I'd get this guy "IF" (and only if) it had thigh swivels and it was actually fully painted. I'm sorry but, if Takara can afford to paint their MP-44, then I feel Transform Element could have painted their Prime too. They also could have provided much better ratcheting in the arms and legs along with covering up those ankle tilt pins somehow. They are a bit distracting to the eye IMO. Other than those personal preferences, the toy looks great.

Really like to see a SDS on the MS vs. TE-01. To me it's such a hard choice. They are both amazing representations of Prime, and just compared to MP-10 they both are lightyears ahead of it in terms of an upgrade. But if I had to choose. I go with the Magic Sware Prime because of the extra paint apps.
Looking at this since the reissue is coming. Legs are so clever, then the chest/cab is basically KFC Blaster panelformer? Wish the re-release had a better finish and I'd be on it (love that metallic finish on Blaster).

+ 1 on the comparison between the primes. Great video as always Bobby. I do have the MS and I love it. I do like the matte finish and I think it does have a cartoony-but-not-so-much look. I dig it.
I was wondering why the video was 27 min. This is a bayverse level of parts moving in this transformation. Quite the puzzleformer, but some people liek that.So the weird thing is, these designer were making mp10 style primes or ignoring the mold for years, then someone said hey try a different form of plastic origami and we get these three. Makes you wonder what else can be improved upon now, IF they thought they could make money. i still say we don't have the perfect seeker yet.

LOVE G1, don't necessarily need it to be toon accurate. I mean when we were kids (over 30 yrs ago), it looked cool. I personally prefer realism vs a cartoon render. the cartoon would change due to image error or size. I don't know if I would switch out 4 this. Good-looking 4 the vid Skullie 'ol buddy..

This Optimus certainly doesn't look bad...but the colors look a bit lighter than they should be unless that's the whole 'toon accurate' color thing.
