Tbh I think this is a great idea in concept, execution could be better. Def not for everyone ofc but many people already want to use their mobile controllers with their iPad and some have done so with iPad mini/ foldable phones already. It’s nice that it has a built in option to attach controllers
I use it for a handheld and replacement desktop with the 64GB RAM model. I play Wukong while sitting with the wife for about an hour every night over a Moonlight/Sunlight stream. Its pretty nice and most certainly at the max size you could call something a handheld.
I was looking for a handheld gaming PC. I already have a surface pro 9. This 3 in 1 will be replacing my SP9 and adding the gaming option as well. I am too busy to game on a console or have a dedicated PC, but this is a good option for someone like me. It's also cheaper than a surface pro tablet.
Not really, they might be losing "your subjective reasoning for wanting a handheld", but that's not mine. I use handhelds so I can freely move from my bed, to my living room and to my in-laws when we stay on the weekends. I don't want a keyboard or mouse as it requires sitting up, and I don't put handhelds in my pocket and play outside because.. I'm not a small child.
I see the point as a thinner laptop that you can actually put on your lap and uses way less wattage, but as a handheld it just seems like a mess. Jack of all trades but master of none.
I am the market. I needed a device that I could use to run my online business, create graphics, for gaming, and travel. This handles all of that without the bulk of a laptop. And at any time, I can change the format from laptop to handheld to tablet, which saves space on the road.
@@JB-tp6uj I find it hard to believe this is any less bulky than a laptop though to be honest, especially once you’ve added a keyboard and mouse which you’d probably need if you were actually doing work on it as well as gaming.

you could get an ally or steam deck or air 1s and also a lapdock for cheaper than this, which would do the same thing but still give you a nice handheld experience with the option of a laptop form factor - with the drawback of having the tether but hey, that would be more versatile especially for travel.
Personally, my Legion go is quite adequate for travel and mobile computing and gaming, just wish that it had a small keyboard that doubled as a screen protector.
I modded my Gamesire G8 Galileo to accommodate large tablets like ipad pro 12.9 and Samsung S8 Ultra 15.6, as well as a Minisforum V3. It technically works, but is prettty ridiculous and the joypad lies unused in a corner.
I don't even find the Legion Go heavy. The Switch feels light in comparison to me. Maybe get something like the Switch pad pros or another bigger joycon?

What are your recommendations for a gaming PC tablet? I like the idea of this form factor, but based on your review, there must be a more optimal approach to something like this without 'joycon' rails.
I really do like that this is basically just a gaming tablet that has handheld functionality...technically. I still think that the Steam Deck is by far the better value, and just a better, like, handheld system.
If you have already gaming PC, I recommend you just buy budget tablet with good enough processing power for streaming and just set up a local stream through Sunshine/Moonlight, if you don’t travel so much… this option with 1.3k tablet is just ridiculous
i have the onexplayer2, both of these tablets have the annoying onexplayer silver logo on the bottom of unit. also the software to control the unit never loads right under windows making the buttons not work right. hardware wise its nice and the formfactor perfect, but going for a tier one supplier like ally rog or buy the next steam.
This is making me realize. IF the Switch 2 is powerful enough and IF the newer Joycons are like, super portable and comfortable... an XL version, built primarily to be played on a table, could be a rad idea. I really don't like this because while the controllers look ergonomic, they don't look like they'd fit in the same pocket as the tablet itself.
For a handheld yes as most lie within the 7in to 9in range for PC handhelds. For a tablet or laptop no. Big tablets are 14-16in in size. Big laptops are 17-18in
It's neat for sure, but all the reasons you outlined are why I wouldn't get one. My gaming laptop was cheaper, larger, and better for less. I'd probably go for the ROG Ally/X. Better value for what you're getting. Too bad their smaller model isn't a bit cheaper.
