  • This is my review of the OneXPlayer X1 after 2 months of use. I've never seen such a crude device before. We'll also talk a bit about OneXPlayer itself and some of their marketing tricks.

      Overly nitpick-y and ever-critical reviews are just as bad as "paid" over-positive ones. Also, while I don't care about ETA, this toxic-dogpiling is obnoxious and uncalled for, you can like something without necessarily crapping over someone else.

Looking forward to seeing your review on that, if they ever release it. I really like X1 concept as per my use case, I really use it as a laptop and tablet more than gaming. • @trysometech52
      @trysometech52  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It was pretty stable when I used my Thunderbolt eGPU with the Legion Go. But I still think it's not an Intel problem, but rather a device power management problem.
      Also if you don't need m.2. SSD from ONEXGPU, take a look at GPD G1, it has build in PSU and way more portable. And both of them will be noisy :D

Also ONEXGPU now on sale on Aliexpress till June 7 and with my coupon and extra coins can get it for $507 only. So I really don't know what to choose. @Magnosummit 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How has the V3 been for you so far? The lack of the Oculink port (I think) is what pushed me towards the X1, but I really would have waited for the AMD X1 mini variant if I had known it was going to come out soon...

    • @choboutube
      @choboutube 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Magnosummit I haven't been using it that much as I'm busy with a work project and I don't want to transition to another device. It seems fine. A bit thicker than I expected but the performance seems to be there. I'd been looking at upgrading from the Steam Deck for a while, considering Legion Go, mini PCs etc. On paper, this v3 seemed to be like a Legion Go on steroids, plus capable of being a work device too. My only gripe so far is that the battery drain at rest/sleep seems higher than I expected, there's probably a setting somewhere to set.
      I like the idea of oculink for 'maximizing' gpus and getting rid of one bottleneck, but then the occasional gaming that I do probably wouldn't tax a decent TB eGPU anyway. I did assemble an aliexpress oculink gpu that I managed to get working with my Hades Canyon with non-working TB ports. Which is nice.

    • @Magnosummit
      @Magnosummit 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@choboutube I hope it handles whatever you need well. I can confirm, in the 3 hours or so that I've used the Intel equipped X1, I think I can get by with it. Time will tell, but I got it to be a portable device with a sufficiently sized screen for gaming (compared to my Win 4 with a 6 inch screen). I don't intend for this to be used as an all around device like how a PC would be.

    1. As I expected it seems to be too heavy to play without putting the tablet on something
    2. Screen size is great but still too little to use as a laptop

      @@trysometech52 i haven’t seen your videos yet but it will be nice if you do some long term reviews of your techs . For example I brought a razer kishi at the end of 2022 and the entire left part of it stopped working suddenly at the beginning of 2024 . These stuff is quite expensive I didn’t even use my kishi v1 that much . And this is quite disappointing especially from a company like razer . This time I went with the game sir g8 . I was planning to buy a rog ally as in my country steam deck isn’t officially available. Thank god gamer nexus saved me . At the end I really don’t trust big channels like eta prime . Taki udon and retro gaming corps are still better channels . I really loved your take on this one x player device although never ever did I dream of getting a device like this .

    nice video. this is a good concept but:
    1. needs steamos or one of the linux alternatives to steamos, and needs to have good support for steam
    2. needs better controllers, maybe put out multiple kinds of controllers, especially ones with dual touchpads. and they need to be wireless (without a "battery addon) and low latency. and when they're attached they should have zero latency.
    3. needs better hardware and cooling inside, you pointed out all sorts of bugs
    4. needs AMD apu or cpu + gpu from AMD
    5. needs better support. probably only going to happen if another company does it. this stuff is ridiculous
    6. i haven't seen you mention it, so i'll mention it here, it needs low latency gaming display with VRR. 120hz is nice but not if it's laggy.
    Also, more and more consoles are showing detachable controllers. The industry needs to agree on a standard for the physical connector and protocol and charging and wireless protocol, so I can have a choice of controllers.
    I really like this form factor. This would probably be the only thing to get me to switch away from my Steam Deck. But it needs to have ALL the points above.

    Thanks for finally releasing this video. Did you try the original egpu dock after you got the new egpu working? Did you try to go back to the first bios the device came with? The AMD model users will experience they same as the Intel users. How did the 4090 run by the way? ETA Prime only TESTed the eGPU that they are selling for the tablet, so of course THAT worked great. By the way His testing is always only on emulation and RARELY on any stressful modern PC title and No I do not count GTA V...
    It looks like the problem it the bios is not flushed out. I found it shady that they were only offering support on discord and that's a RED FLAG. I view all tablet/phone speakers as junk and use bluetooth devices with using audio. It also sounds like their bios support for their OCulink port is garbage. Another "cheap" chinese junk item. No matter what happens please to leave the video up because it's relevant AT THE TIME you uploaded it.

    • @trysometech52
      @trysometech52  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bios has nothing to do with my first eGPU dock, it will not work because there is no power button = no handshake between the devices (as far as I see it). Moreover, it was a pre-release version of the bios and I got it again by their mistake, so of course I didn't try to roll back to it.
      I sold my PC and completely switched to this garbage as a PC replacement. So I don't have the 4090 anymore
      ETA Prime is just a marketplace channel, he never says anything bad about the product. And they have problems even with original eGPU dock - you can find videos on how to set it up to avoid drivers issues, or a dozens of messages on their Discord channel

    Okay.. I came onto my Dead Channel as soon as you said **ETA Prime was an honest reviewer** and for one i'm sorry you believe that.
    1. Guys, let me ask you a question, what Content does ETA Prime produce?
    What is his channel about?
    I'll hurry and answer, ETA Prime's channel is for advertisements.
    He dosen't make personal content, nothing on his channel is of unique personal interest or greater subject.
    He just recieves gadgets and influeces you to be interested in said products. Every single video ETA Prime has produced in the last 4 months has been product placements.
    2. He's not not a(n; Honest) Reviewer
    ETA Prime largely does overview content, he's not exactly "reviewing" anything. He's going through a checkbox and he rarely says anything truly negative about the devices or his own experience, as he wants more sponsorships so he can continue making a living.
    3. ETA Prime does delete videos
    ETA Prime made an infamous video that no longer exists where he claimed that Intel Arc(this was when it launched) was the perfect 1440p GPU when it costed more than a 6700(non XT) and had terrible drivers.
    That video got such bad reception he deleted it, and is the most dishonest video I personally know he made.
    Idk where people get that ETA Prime is honest but he's channel purpose is not to sell you truth, its to show you products you might think are cool.
    That's it.

    • @millennial_weeb2382
      @millennial_weeb2382 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Compared to ETA Prime your video is an actual Review, you're sharing exactly how the device behaves.
      Besides minor stylistic differences in the way you two go about production, your videos are a cut above ETA Prime's.
      It's a shame you don't upload nearly as much.
