I cannot believe that Stellantis was foolish enough to stop production of the Gen 3 Hemi! It was a great engine and I know I loved having it in my 2017 Ram. Even in stock form a stout and reliable engine!
As I understand it, they were having a harder and harder time meeting emissions requirements with the current design. Once the kinks are worked out of the hurricane, I am sure it will be respectable… but I am sure the old school muscle guys won’t be super happy with that. Did they ever fix cam oiling on gen 3 “hemi”?
How can a guy as smart as Pat be foolish enough to sit on the side of the chassis Dyno while it's making a run? Has he ever seen a tire or a drive shaft let go? It gets exciting real quick, in videos where they have people go scrambling away as fast as possible. Plus he was even sitting near the rear tire!
All these mods are great if you don't live in California. California requires the same tune that came with the engine. I doubt if this engine would pass a smog test in California.
Yep for sure, but the development of this combustion chamber incorporated every change worked out by the Gen 2 Hemi factory racing greats. I hope that goes some way to explaining why they retained the name. It was kind of honorable thing to do.
A hemisphere has alot of emissions issues due to flame travel speed. The gen 2 426 wasn't a true hemi either , it was canted inward so it wasn't a complete hemisphere.
Y’all need to bring Mike Galley back.

They didn’t, it still comes in the 2500 ram, and you can buy a brand new 5.7 for 5500 from mopar, 7k for the srt 392 etc
@@joshkrause2977 Yeah, but they got rid of it out of production vehicles. And the 2500 had the great 6.4.
they should have made a gen 4 replacement
There's always tomorrow @@krtacct

I seen "Hemi gets trick heads" and I thought Keith Black dual plug small chamber, for a 1st Gen 426. I missed the Gen3 bit.
😂 nope.....
What the fuck is a pound foot
Haha I know man, technically its the right way to say it, but im not gay so its foot pounds
I know /have seen in a catalog that they make hemi heads for 454 Chevy block would love to see you guys Dyno that setup
The Arias head? They were nasty!! A few big USHRA/Red Man pulling series Modifieds ran Arias engines in the day.
STALLantis ruined Dodge and Ram...........
Why say point the rotor " where you want it". Your supposed to tell me where I want it.
Man I do miss Mike Galley. Where the hell is he ? No social media at all…
Where is Hoffa and Mike Galley?!
That's none of youse business.
@@bmstylee Capeesh!
So not a BES Tony "KISS" setup....because boost :)
What about those crappy lifters I thought they were no good
I guess you guys did a piston/valve clearance?
Why didn't Dodge ever go to an aluminum block? They are plenty strong for any combination, and weight at least 100lbs less. There are no downsides.
Awesome videos! I love watching professional mechanics work and not these TH-cam mechanics who use their dad’s race car shop. 😂
Can you put that in my jeep 😅

consider for a minute that this custom all out build is making about half the power of the 2024 stage 3 yenko camaro
Interesting that they still call this a Hemi.
Thanks for the upload!
Funny that there is practically no Hemi left other then the name, it looks more like a modern pent roof then a classic hemi.

426 c.i. is not 6.1 liter.
