I kid u not Dev, watching u building an engine is therapeutic. Love the level of detail and care u put into ur engine builds. Literally the cleanest ever.
I watched your video of assembling a 4g63 while I built mine. Followed your video to a "T" and had my 4g63 assembled and running in my car in no time. Just watched this video as I am getting ready to tackle another build of mine and this video is so spot on. No gimmicks, no bs. All the info and how to one could need to assemble a k series engine. Thank you sir!
Man I just discovered your channel 2 days ago and your videos are amazing. And you post them quite frequently too. Keep up the good work, loving this NSX Series.
living every man’s dream , the attention to detail is crazy your basically talking like a step by step manual guide, unreal work man not that many TH-camrs that are at your level keep up the amazing work 👊🏻
It seems like I can now build my own K-series engine. I really enjoyed watching. Such a meticulous approach to all the procedures is impressive. Thank you!
33:12 Agreed - having the ring compressor which is the right size for your piston is a game changer. Basically for those unfamiliar, it's the exact size of the piston/bore and doesn't require any adjustment to the ring compressor. The bore-specific compressors are basically a tapered hole that you slide your piston in and it perfectly compresses the rings.
And this is why when I build my k24a2 motor I’m doing all these measurements before installing the go fast parts to make sure everything is all good before putting everything together. 🙏🏻 always love these type of videos🙏🏻💯
Deadass the most informative video I’ve watched always wanted to build my own engine but the measurements always scared me this made it hella simple thank Devin
Amazing video bro if I ever build up the courage to take on a job like this I’m definitely using this. This NSX is gonna be so clean, keep up the great work Devin much respect.
Great stuff! Never built and engine but plan to rebuild an LS in the future. A quick question on the main cap bearing clearances. In this application, you replaced the cap side bearing to open up the bore .5 thousand. Does that not cause issues with concentricity since the cap side will have slightly less material? Will the crank not “float” towards the cap side? Also, would it not be possible to mix-match the bearing caps to get the proper clearances? Thanks in advance!
David, I’ve a suggestion, instead of calling your art of car building perfection, let’s call it, we Niemela a car! Can’t and won’t grow tired watching your content!
Hi Devin. I was wondering maybe it was a miscommunication issue ( 16:38 ). When you say piston to wall clearance and say that it should be 45 thou maybe you need to specify that is clearance over the diameter and not on the radius OR specify both : " I need a piston to wall clearance on the radius of ~22.5 -23 thou so that will be around 45 thou on the diameter."
I noticed you didn’t install the oil squirters before dropping the crank and girdle in place. Is there something to that? Just curious, love watching the engine builds.
I was jonesing so bad for the next episode I caught up on the yellow Evo build, Bobbi’s EVO 10…I honestly don’t know how Devin remembers where all those bolts and parts go. All of my builds have extra parts 😆
Lapping valves with a power drill is a good way to overdo it. You should only use a hand tool. You can easily check the progress by lifting the valve off the seat. If a brief lapping with a hand tool doesn't do the job, the seat was not ground properly. Also, not a fan of using ATF or especially not WD40 to lubricate the cylinders. ATF has additives that don't belong in an engine. It's better to use a light coating of motor oil, since that's what's in the engine and it will be slashed all over the cylinder bores and pistons as soon as the engine starts.
I think I learned more here than going to Wack ass mechanic school UTI 😂😂😂 that’s why I dropped out and just learned things in my own good work man not a lot of TH-camrs can pull this type of video off
You are literally the talking repair manual! Best instructional video ever. Feel like I can assemble the same build after watching this
This video is getting saved, for a future build of mine. Step by step information, you’re the best man.
facts.
I'm going to watch this 40 times. I want to get into engine building. Your videos are great, straight business, no gimmicks.
48:21 You should take out the oil jet next to the hole you had put the screw and plug it.
Yeah I noticed that as well, that needs to be plugged
Yeah agreeed. He’s blanked the wrong hole.
Hope he sees this you are 100% right. He needs to pull the oil jet and use a bolt with crush washer or hondabond to block where the oil jet is.
UP!!!! But Anyways I dont think the baffle will fit, he will see it after he installs it
@@Karlostri +1 !!!
As much as I love cars I could never get to this level of effort, precision or patience. Massive cheers for taking the time to document it for us.
This was the best guide for a K motor I've seen on YT. Thank you for this!

***You need to remove that plug on the crank girdle and plug that hole up with Hondabond! Not the one you did.***
I pray you see this and dont grenade the engine 😭 also make sure its torqued to 16 ft-lbs!

I’ll never build one of these but I sure liked watching you do it.
Devin

Love how much detailed and organized the builds are!
Learn so much watching your videos
Half asleep watching this in a hospital room had me looking around for what was alarming… it was the torque wrench. 😂😂😂
And this is why when I build my k24a2 motor I’m doing all these measurements before installing the go fast parts to make sure everything is all good before putting everything together. 🙏🏻 always love these type of videos🙏🏻💯
Perfect timing. Just pulled my K24 out of my Civic for some maintenance and upgrades 😎
Beautifully done! I've gotten bit a few times starting bolts with an impact or drill though! I use fingers to start all my bolts now.
Aww man, now I have no excuse to not build a K24, thanks Devin, a banger once again
Boy, no wonder you have so many subscribers. You post great content constantly. Very impressive!
Where's the supercharger?
Marvels mystery oil for cylinder walls too.
i just love this type of build/guide devin does

Great video! Can't wait to see it go in the car
Not swapping both cause caps ? Isnt that journal now out of round to the crank shaft centre line ?
15 minutes or a hour no matter what I want more Lmaoo wish I could be in the shop just watching this go down 😂
All this hard work going to pay off big time thing is gonna be a beast looks fantastic.

Devin you’re such an underrated car youtuber, love the content man!
Yes!! Long video! Gonna get me some popcorn!
Great video. Great info.
finally with your voice saying things
Great stuff! Never built and engine but plan to rebuild an LS in the future.

Other engine builds from very reputable builders mention mixing bearing sets to get the desired clearances.
Thanks for the comment. That’s good to know!
Learn a lot 👍

29:14 I don’t know if it was done off camera but we didn’t see the installation of the piston oil squirters!!!!!
Proper setup
I noticed you didn’t install the oil squirters before dropping the crank and girdle in place. Is there something to that? Just curious, love watching the engine builds.
To check squirter to piston clearance and adjust if needed
I notice that has well , I hope he installed them or plug them.
been loving the videos man, wish I could work on my RSX in this level of detail lol
Many many likes!
Wow.
No wonder these things dominate.
Shits engineered to perfection
@48:23 , I’m 95% sure you’re supposed to remove the oil orafis and install the bolt there(next to the one you plugged.)
Awesome, as usual..
Yup I’m saving this
Let’s go new drop on time with lunch break
Magical ❤
