    I've just done this and your pain saved me some suffering thanks. The centre core, a plastic pin, of the plastic retainer behind the pull-down-handle prizes out with a strong but fine edge (knife), then the outer pulls out easily. Thanks for the video. I need to buy some clips as mine is missing some and epoxy to repair someone's old mistakes which are causing some annoying rattles.

    My headliner still needs replacement, it got water-damaged because the gasket between the spoiler and the rear hatch body proper failed. I actually had water sloshing inside the tailgate, because for some unknown reasons, the plastic plugs covering the drainage holes in the tailgate were painted over in my car. I had to carefully cut them out with a scalpel to allow the water to escape.

    I commend you on this difficult removal.
    I need to do this as all my rear trim glue has fried.. 46C days can do that.
    I hear you made 40C for the first time in recorded history(100yrs)
    35C to 40C is a "feels like" difference... 40C to 46C is another magnitude difference.

    I need to take mine out, fix and refit. But that bugger requires some different tool to attack with. Those small tools aren't fit for this job IMHO. After making way with smaller tools, I'll stick something long and strong in there to lever the whole thing off.

    • @Thomas-rx9ur

      All lines. Currently I think I have a boost leak so I’d start there. But all my internal rubber should be replaced.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Thomas-rx9ur I’ll do what needs doing on mine, ideally you want to get a smoke test done to show boost / vac leak. And coolant replace if leaking / looks perished

    • @Thomas-rx9ur
      @Thomas-rx9ur 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll get a smoke detection completed some time. I’ve only had my tt a couple months. Even after finding this leak it will only be a matter of time before another leak occurs because my tt is almost 20 years old and rubber is degraded. For that reason at some point I want all the rubber hoses replaced with silicone.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a similar situation here, often the Trims have a lot of surface damage where over the years people can’t judge the side of the boot correctly and try and shut it with over sized loads 😂
      That and like you said go crazy removing them. They fetch quite a premium if in a good condition too
