    The rubber trim is often a bit delicate and crusty, usually due to sun damage... and the things being 20 years old! I took mine off the roof rails, soaked them in hot water, to make them supple, cleaned them up and then refitted using a bit a washing up liquid as a lubricant to ease the rails back in. Parrott Bros rule! :-)

      For these rubbers the best is that small rubber care Wurth bottle, the one with the sponge and red cap. Does wonders and my rubber partss are still soft and supple since I've been using it for all these years...

    You're literally going through everything that I need to get sorted on mine! One question for you as it's hard to see from the video - with those rails removed, is the top of the car still weather proofed? I need to take mine off to redo the lacquer, but I'm wondering if I need to get it all done quickly, or if it's going to be ok if it's off the car for a few days and it rains...

    • @TheParrottBros

    • @TheParrottBros

      The trim around the glass is riveted on I believe. Personally never had to remove it unfortunately

    • @luisc853

      Follow up, the metal trim around the glass is riveted as mentioned. Remove the rubber door seal, and drill the rivets out, then it can be pulled out 👍

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats something i have heard before unfortunately, you almost need to feed them on at a 90 degree angle as when you push it down from a 90 degree angle it opens up enough to go on easy usually

    Why is the paint on my roof rails fading but the rest of the paint on my car is perfect?

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A couple of reasons they could have faded, they are thick aluminium so in hot weather they will go through more heat cycles, they may have less paint on them as painted off the car, someone has repainted them
