So jelly haha I want those because it gives a faux feeling of being in a Porsche but the Audi seats really do well in the twisties
I wish they would have made a Porsche style seat for the tt as it’s got all the other stylings but the seat lacks a little luster. Comfy tho

As for the airbag light, you dont have to put a resistor, you can turn it off via vcds.

Funny one this. I had a 996 but only kept it for a year as it gave me crippling back pain. I swapped in to a 997 & you wouldn't believe the difference! I have a couple of friends with 986's & have done a swap to 997/987 seats on them. With them, it's a straight bolt in with some small changes for the wiring to get the seat motors working. In your case, if you went with 997/987 seats, you might get the added safety of the seat air bags the same as the original seats.
I just bought a Noggy blue TT & personally I find the factory seats are spot on, & that's without adjustable lumbar. If you find the seat belt light is a problem, you can swap over the buckle receiver from the original seat to cure it.

Love the look of 986 seats in a TT and it's something I've wanted to do for a long time now.
If it were my car, with a cream trim interior, I'd be tempted to re-colour the centre section of the seat back and squab to a lighter cream to match the door cards - it would make them look more individual and add a touch of class.
That would be very similar to seats I saw for sale from the early Slk, they had an ivory centre black outer. Very clean look I like it

Yeah obvs, it’s hurting for a cup holder but more pressing things to sort before I get one, tempted to get an arm rest for this car 😅

TT seats while perfectly comfortable and ok they lack that sporty feel and I’ve always wanted to do a seat upgrade and this fits the bill from the perspective of being an easy, fit, sporty, looking and comfortable, also cheap, which is a win
It was great to see (and sit!) in these seats yesterday. They look great and feel even better. They really suit the car. Not so sure I can keep up with the level of colouring in the books though! Great work mate 👍

Thanks buddy, I thought it would appeal the mass, it’s a straight fit so safe to use. I’m always caution when it comes to seating and belts. I’m looking into other options for future fit 😎

Seats look great, it’s nice to know the boxster seat would be a good switch. I’ve always been happy with originals up to this point…
If your happy keep it simple and stick to what you know, if you get bored or fancy a change then this is always an option :)
Lovely touch and look OEM plus, was going to fit some myself instead went for buckets but already thinking of swapping out before I need a hip replacement from getting in and out lol
Haha I done it that way round too, buckets look cooler but these are far more practical haha

Its smart isnt it, a company online & ebay make them, they take a factory mk1 wheel, flat bottom it and then recover it, not mad money either i dont think

Great vid Dom! They look great. Fortunately for me (and with a bad lower back), I find the oem seats to be quite comfortable, and even on longer drives..lightyears better than my Toyota 4Runner seats! I do like either solution in this case. And bought some spare, original black TT seats in the garage, so when mine get super worn, I’ll have some 60K seats to throw in 😊. Paid $300 US dollars for those.
They wont be for everyone and for different reasons im sure, the stock seats are great i think i would prefer ones with a material centre as i find the all leather a bit much when its warm out. great job on finding some spares for down the line good idea that

These look great mate, love the coat hooks on the back too, do they hug aswell as the original TT ones??
They are a little more snug than the factory tt seat, they are a little slender and narrow at the top
Prefer the look of the oe seats, interesting that you say they hold you better as the bolsters look smaller to me and the base part of the seat looks flat compared to the tt seats. Mk1 merc slk uses the same base plate too and possibly 996 911
TT leather seats are pretty uncomfortable. You sit on them rather than in them. So for me they would be an upgrade. However, you want 987 seats preferably.
@@marcooconnor I find them fine and comfortable over long distance the only thing I'd like is to be able to adjust the angle of the base so your bum sits lower than your thighs something you can do with the recaro seats in the 8l S3

I used 2.7k ohm resistors. Bought 10 from Rs supplies for £3

I wasn't too keen on the seat out of the car, but once fitted looks like it was made for the TT. Do you think its possible to wire in the heating element if you're TT has it?
You can add heated seats to almost anything these days they do a diy kit, but there are other options around or later seats may offer heating i dont know, its never been a priority for me as i dont really like them haha
@TheParrottBros thats fair enough. I rarely use them to be honest but it would annoy me having the knobs there not working 😂

Would need custom brackets as although the 8N TT and 8L S3 share the same chassis the seat mounts are different.
as said below, they are different mounting so require a bit more fettling

Didn’t do a weight comparison but they are definitely lighter than original seats slightly

Hey Dom! Just got my car serviced (changed that ugly aftermarket bumper too) The only thing in my car that was spotless was the seats. I picked it up with excitement and did not notice that the repair shop damaged my leather seats ( passenger seat has weird pokes not holes the leather is still there, like someone was pressing on the leather with a screw driver and left shallow dots) do you have any clue on how to fix that?. I dont want to make a fuzz with the repair shop until im 100% sure it cant be fixed, i have informed them and sent them pictures though.
I would recommend, steaming them should soften the leather enough to massage the leather and possibly remove some of the creases/stretch bits
@@TheParrottBros I was thinking about that too, maybe first apply heat then use a house vacuum to suck it back to it’s original location. The weird thing is that it’s not just one it’s 4 of the maybe they stored a heavy part on top of my seat. Either way I might have to change my mechanic that’s not acceptable.
