This the most respectful chef owner ever showed up in this show. Gordon didn't even have to argue to make his point cause this chef/owner knows he needs help. SALUTE
Unlike others who feel the right to shout and argue with him
What a sweet, sweet man, n a lazy narcissist wife. He is working his a.. off , yet she has convinced him, the downfall is his fault
@@golnaz.shoush I know...and she is not even cute or sweet...I don't see any redeeming qualities. I wouldn't want to work with her!
Bad for the ratings 😂 Gordon won't have been happy
wouldn't want to BE with her lol
Imagine watching your husband work 12 hour days while you don't work and blame him for not taking care of you.
That’s like a sixteen hour work day. Not including the time before he actually gets to the restaurant 😢
Sounds like the average woman in the US these days.
I disagree on that. Many women work in US. The ones that are SAHW don't act like her. I think I know 5 housewives and the rest work.
She came from Mexico hoping for a wealthy comfy life. When times were hard she left back to Mexico and left him with all the debt.
I could not live with myself I can't stand this woman
“You can even swipe your credit card on it, AND sign on the tablet!” 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I always have to remind myself these episodes are nearly 15 years old 😂😂
You can really tell just how much Gordon didn't like Mary. He hardly ever spoke to her except to tell her to be nicer to Greg. Unbelievable the way this man was treated.
17:30 I love how respectful the assistant cook is.🥹❤️His parents raised him right! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
even in the american episodes you can tell that gordon adapts to the people and behaves in a way that produces results. have a feeling he saw that greg was respectful and actually trying and therefore could act less aggressive
Aren't u hard as a rock after that?😩
@@takenldiaz9661 💀 down bad arent we?
I think he was less aggressive because unlike most of the owners Greg wasn't deluded and acting like his food was the greatest. He was just genuinely looking for help and guidance to keep the place from closing. Once Gordon saw how Mary treated him, he felt bad for Greg.
I wouldn't think i'd witness a Mexican Karen but this is the internet ladies and gentlemen.
@Prince Talleyrand no. It’s the US that’s where it originated so it doesn’t seem surprising.
I don think nationality has anything to do with it. A Karen is a Karen
Karen’s are international. France is FULL of Karens, so is the UK
Karen is known in Mexico as Mary, just because of her
@@stefandiebel8775 Karen is usually depicted as a white middle aged lady but I agree a Karen can be of any race, age or gender.
"I don't wanna". The story of her life.
“Chef Ramsay no feel happy” is the alternate title for this show
30:11 “what is that cheese??”
“Kayso Frierrrr”
“Queso brieeer??”
Lmaoooo as Dominican this shit was hilarious. Then when he confidently told Gordon the same 😂
To see Greg being upset broke my heart. 😭😭 He derserves so much better... I'm glad he divorced Mary and remarried. Hope he has a better life now. ❤
I hope Greg is happy now what ever he is doing. What a lovely guy
Well, he is doing Maria, so I'm gonna say yes, he is.
Your own children should NEVER CALL YOU GREG😢😢😢😢😢
25:34 oh gawd what a horrible moment.
Greg deserves better.
Edit: also for the girls to be so oblivious as to how to show support for their father. Knowing that the restaurant that takes up literally ALL of his time is the only thing keeping them in their comfy lives, and they don’t show any gratitude for his work, or sympathy for his daily sacrifice.
A bunch of “me,me,me” people. Ugh.
Learned behavior they got from Mary most likely.
Seems very conditional, and being around that, their daughters haven't seen another way, so naturally they don't know it's wrong
Greg appears to be a really good man who works insanely hard, he gives a lot of love to his family who don't give back, so he carries all the stress and responsibility all by himself.
There was a huge change after the family session in the middle. Enormous. Suddenly, the tiny hot kitchen didn't matter any more.
As it should be.
Greg is one of the best chefs out there being responsible, keeping a healthy resto he needs positivity and support. Sorry to say he deserves someone much better than Mary
Poor Greg he sounds so genuine and passionate about cooking
I wanna hug this poor guy...
Greg was actually one of the best guys in this series. His food wasn't the best, but it wasn't rotten or out of date. He never served anything that was unclean or bad for the customers. He just didn't have the right guidance or support.
I hope Greg is living his best life.
I think Chef Ramsey finally understood why the restaurant is the way it is after talking to the wife for 5 minutes!! The disrespect to Chef Ramsey when she kept saying "Let me talk"!!! No, you need to LISTEN FOR ONCE!! A PIECE OF DUCT TAPE WOULD BE SO HELPFUL RIGHT NOW!!
His food needed seasoning and to not be microwaved 😂
@@nicoleraheem1195 broski you would be surprised with how much food get microwaved in kitchens

I think you mean she was in the wrong. People are human. He was the impeccable husband.
And he wasn't blaming others or bullying people.
He wasn't slacking or shirking and lying denying. He was genuinely saying I know I need improvements and I know Gordon can help me.
@@kaleidoscope8743she was selfish and lazy
The restaurant closed. They divorced and he ended up marrying one of their waitresses. Good for him!
And yet Gordon never see anything wrong with women hes always finding fault with the men
I wonder if she means A: I'm going to leave my family (what the fuck?) or B: I'm going to take my hardworking husbands children and leave him (what the fuck??)
Can we all just appreciate how one man kept that ship afloat... AND THERE WAS NO NASTY WALKIN FRIDGE OR GREASY DIRT ALL OVER!?! -He singlehandedly did better than most other restaurants on this show...
It was refreshing seeing him clean. 1st Chef on the show (or any of the other reality tv "kitchen" show with Gordon)
kinda true but in fact he never checked right? he wasnt "me checking kitchen" and saying oh cool theres nothing wrong here everything is clean i like that he just pointed out that stove is old. also there was one episode with segregation and labeling he was shocked how well its organised but still rated food as awful same like here. so ofc he deserves credits but he didnt make miracle he wasnt so amazing as you sugesting just normal hard working guy. its insane that others had so neglected kitchen
@@meanral keeping a ship afloat doesn't equal having the most successfull ship ever seen... Just means nobody drowned... So I don't think I gace him too much credit as is... 🤗
I like how when this was filmed the prices on the menu were considered ridiculous and 'not cheap' as gordon said and the past couple years now those are like Taco Bell prices with a discount.
@@kishascape it does truly date this episode
A huge oversight here, Gordon had no fridge or freezer issues here! Massive respect to Greg for a clean and safe kitchen.
Even the ingredienc were good enough for Ramsay to NOT rant about them.
He said nothing bad about the décor (I count authentic as a compliment and "It´s gorgeous" is a high praise in my books).
So yes Greg did a great job.
not sure but it could have been cut out in the interest of time and/or story... but yeah they might also have a clean fridge
The kind of woman that would throw you under a bus and swear in court that you jumped!
With a wife like that, I'd check my insurance policies!
@@andygee8716 Greg is a man?
This restaurant wasn’t a nightmare. Definitely a “wife” nightmare.

I suspect she may have reverted to her old ways after Gordon left (remember he had to step in and give her a talking to even during thr relaunch). They subsequently divorced and in 2019, six years after the restaurant closed, he got engaged to Maria, the server who took Ramsey's order when he arrived. The business falied for the same reason that many others in Kitchen Nightmares did: the accumulated debt was simply too big for it to survive.
Maybe because, as it turns out, hubby was banging the waitress the whole time and ended up marrying her

“I don’t know if it’s my fault but I know it’s my responsibility” any real father or husband felt that
That's a man! And he deserves a better wife.
While that’s a nice thing to hold responsibility…through the course of the episode, it shows the importance of a need to work as a family unit.. to communicate and talk to one another and realistically approach the problems they’re facing. (While if it would work for this family or not…that’s another thing entirely😅)
Made me tear up.
Seems like modern society has forgotten this sort of humility.

No he isn't the best family therapist, he just knows how family restaurants work and able to recognize when something is wrong. He's also able to push things to the right direction a thing that everyone who has some observation skills would be able to do. The problem is that when Gordon goes away, the family still needs some initial support to deal with the problems accumulated within years. Some families are able to deal with them by themselves meanwhile others fall apart mostly due to the lack of communication.

The biggest compliment for Gregs abilities was the fact that Gordon didn't search for a chef to train him, but instead came to this arrangement with the culinary school! That means he trusts Greg to run a kitchen perfectly fine

This is a rare episode where the chef is not delusional or doesn't care. He worked 14-15 hrs a day while he carried the entire weight of the business and family on his shoulders. He needed the support of his wife more than anything, but instead he got abuse. Like chef Ramsay I was really rooting for his success. I am sorry the restaurant failed, but glad he is out that toxic marriage.
That's both bad and good to hear, I hope he's living a happier life now!
He worked 20 hours a day basically. He would get up at 5:30am and wouldn't go to bed till probably 12:30-1am. Man literally was on 4-5 hours of sleep every single day non stop for years. That's INSANE. The potential that this man has is absolutely incredible, far superseding that of every single other chef that has ever been on this show. He might be one of those rare people who can survive on a few hours of sleep a night. Mary or one of the daughters could get the food in for the restaurant, pick up the cleaning chores he always does.

I think I'm more angry with Mary in this episode. I don't think you should lump the daughters in with their mother, they actively worked there more than their mom and helped support him where they could, but as Gordon said "He's a one man band" he wasn't open for help in the kitchen, WHICH HE NEEDED. Just look at the scene where he had Jerome with him waiting to do something but not able to because Greg wanted to do everything. Still the wife is at fault for a lot, but I won't pretend the husband is a complete victim in this situation, to get help you need to be open for help.

I don't believe she does love him. I think she was trying to tell herself/Gordon that she did. Love is not just the feeling of affection towards someone. Love encompasses every part of human life, it is a feeling, a dream, a belief, a perspective, and a mode of action.
She consistently prioritized herself over him in every way, she was selfish, she viewed him as the reason for her problems, she didn't respect him, her dream was not to work alongside him, it was to profit from him. Even at the end, she worked for a couple days cause she was on a tv show and all motivated but I guarantee not long after when the reality kicked in that she had to get up early and go to work when she didn't feel like it, she either started staying home, or being miserable at work and making sure everyone else knew it.
