the one part when she shows her true self is crazy, most of the time in kitchen nightmares the wife/husband help each other but this is next level of toxicity
She is from another culture! A toxic culture. He is a Japanese male, another toxic culture. It takes skill to be on an inter-racial team! We all should learn something.
Unfortunately no, they closed a long time ago. Apparently they tried to find a new location with lower rent but I assume they couldn’t find one in time, so they just stepped out of the restaurant industry entirely. Akira is now an importer for Japanese and Chinese products, and Lisa basically job hops from restaurant to restaurant as a server. Don’t know what the kids are doing, but Hana kinda recently did a reunion fan-episode with some of her costars from Star Trek, since she was a child actor.
Aside from the food, the wife was a true bully. She'd sucked the life from husban leaving him unable to speak or react. I know this result of bullying! I felt for him he was so broken. Superb children very concerned about the parents, especially dad. I hope they are happy now, with or without the restaurant! The wife is some piece of work and needs to rein-in! She was horrible.
This is the first one I've seen that hats were even mentioned. Seen numerous episodes where back of house had zero headgear to prevent loose hairs, and as someone ingrained with "need to wear a hairnet even to go into the kitchen", is unbelievable.
I admire Chef Ramsey he is genuine and I am so grateful for him to love the people in the community the way he is opening up doors for many to bring restoration to their lives their business their family and their city. Blessings
Turned this on as background noise while I made supper...and it's just hit me that I paired a salad in a sesame soy dressing and almonds with my farafelle and meatballs in basil marinara. 😂 Mixing Asian and Italian. I was just trying to use up my salad dressing, i swear. But, hey, at least I didn't combine them.
Absolutely She is so bitter and angry. She has to be held accountable for her actions in this case. He probably knows that she has lost her love for him and his intuition about her is correct. She is putting her anguish on their children to make herself look better.
It actually hurts to see Akira so happy over something as simple as a new fridge. That poor man was so broken down by his wife. I genuinely hope Lisa received some sort of therapy and reflected on her borderline emotionally abusive tendencies.
I know lots of people are getting on the wife, and for the most part those criticisms are appropriate. What impressive children though! They really value their family and are going WAY above and beyond to try and be there for their parents who are clearly damaged and hurting immensely. Whatever the parents are now, they have clearly done something right in the past because they have a lot to be proud of with those kids.
I think you pick up on the red flag, but off centre, when the wife saw her husband rebounding for the positive, she deliberately tried to sabotage his improvement, as his depression was her centrepiece for leaving, the intentional efforts to belittle him, were self preservation by the wife
Standing with his head down, just nodding and listening, not talking and answering is such an Asian thing to do. He’s not in denial, this is just his Asian way of accepting his mistake.
Episode originally aired in 2009. The Great Recession was no joke and the hospitality industry is really tough. Seems like the family is doing well now sadly the restaurant isn't there anymore (not like the store after it at the place was any successful because of the horrible economy)
You know it's footage like this and my lacking experience of sushi in general. Be it from well reviewed places or random offerings of a venue. Frozen or otherwise not fresh. A lot of people may not be aware, but frozen products in transit are allowed to be marked fresh. So when I'm not near a coast line within hours, fish anything is avoided. I think the critical mistake he made was moving from an area the restaurant was successful into another on the idea it will remain that way.

Glad Gordon mentioned to her what a grate guy he is and no help from her
Anyone else feel like the family doesn’t actually care about their father they just want him to be able to run the business.
So that's why they help out financially??
But the kids stayed and help??
The boy litrrally gave his dad 20K LMAO 20 FREAKING K. But you don't know what hard work it even if it hit you in the face so you wouldn't know how much and how hard you would have to work to get that much and then lose it. Kid just go back to playing Minecraft.
Akira may be a great chef but he's just not an owner. He'll be good working for a boss but not as a boss.
man the wife is so toxic
My thoughts too. Glad I'm not the only that sees it
I'm sure Akira would agree with you if he were ever allowed to speak up
the one part when she shows her true self is crazy, most of the time in kitchen nightmares the wife/husband help each other but this is next level of toxicity
She is from another culture! A toxic culture. He is a Japanese male, another toxic culture. It takes skill to be on an inter-racial team! We all should learn something.
Glad someone sees that
The owner is clearly a broken man at first..... his face says "I don't want to be on this planet any more..."
Yup wife is a major problem
Have I seen this episode many times before? Yes.
Will I watch it many times more? Also, yes.
Such a lovely family. I wish them success and happiness.
They closed not long after the episode aired
Pretty sure they closed before the episode aired.
Gordon can be a really good family therapist.
Akira's wife broke this man...
I'm so happy gordon told her off. Like omg
Just because one can cook doesn't mean they can run a restaurant.
Such a sad story, a guy who was lost but was found!...
That family are amazing the way they have stuck together through thick and thin!
Is this place still open? The wife seemed to me to hammer the husband even further down.
The episode is from 2009 i think and the place got closed around August. Same year
Unfortunately no, they closed a long time ago.
Blessings
Best thing he could do now is get a divorce and the place will be running great
I bet the wife is the actual fault and the husband is to much of a man to cause any insult to his wife.
Remembered this episode and always hated the wife lol
The wife is a horrible person. Playing a role from beginning to the end.
Gordon is a fucking legend.
I have so much respect for Gordon
Why is the wife smiling while she's saying that her husband is a broken man?
Cause she is a witch haha 😂
Because she is a toxic female partner abuser... If it was the genders reversed... That man would proably be in jail-
A very emotionally draining wife. She's his downfall.
Absolutely
She is so bitter and angry.
Omg his wife was the problem all along. Gordan resolved that very well.
It's so sad to see this family go through so much pain, get better, then shut down 😢
I know lots of people are getting on the wife, and for the most part those criticisms are appropriate. What impressive children though! They really value their family and are going WAY above and beyond to try and be there for their parents who are clearly damaged and hurting immensely. Whatever the parents are now, they have clearly done something right in the past because they have a lot to be proud of with those kids.
Holy hell.. his "wife" is such a negative person.. no wonder he shut down.....
Hammer 🔨 Show mal wieder. Gorden Ramsay, Profi! Grüße 🖖 alle Gorden Fans aus Deutschland 🇩🇪 crazy kitchen *MANNHEIM*
Watching this show from Dubai it’s amazing I love chef Ramsay
I think the mom is just showing love for the sake of camera
Everything worked out initially. Akira just needed some anti-depressants. Like a Ronin, lost his purpose and brought shame.
I’d bet my entire paycheck that the wife is cheating on him as well,,, the way she talks to him and resents him like that,, #1 red flag
I think you pick up on the red flag, but off centre, when the wife saw her husband rebounding for the positive, she deliberately tried to sabotage his improvement, as his depression was her centrepiece for leaving, the intentional efforts to belittle him, were self preservation by the wife
A man that's not afraid to cry.... That's a real man and that's who akira is
Standing with his head down, just nodding and listening, not talking and answering is such an Asian thing to do. He’s not in denial, this is just his Asian way of accepting his mistake.
This episode, Gordon really had to put on his Therapist Ramsay shoes.
This really brought me to tears. This man is broken
Thanks for interesting and valuable video as always ❤❤❤
Dude just wanted to cook
Episode originally aired in 2009. The Great Recession was no joke and the hospitality industry is really tough. Seems like the family is doing well now sadly the restaurant isn't there anymore (not like the store after it at the place was any successful because of the horrible economy)
Who in their right mind does sushi Pizza🤢🤮.. and that wife glad I don't work there.. no way would I put up with a mouth like that
he even get traditional drums
I REMEMBER THE ICONIC SUSHI PIZZA!
Gordon would fix the economics in order to save a restaurant
Whoever gets to date the son is very lucky.
One of the realest marriages in this show
That man has no idea how truly beautiful his children are !!!!😮 i mean they both could model and i know that little girl doesn't know. I hope she dose by now.!!!!!!😮😢❤
His daughter looks like an anime character come to life!
40:00 Honestly best part it got me a little emotional
Akira stopped cooking Problom found
23:57 Gordon Ramsay got a new job he’s a therapist
And he helped the family like a therapist
Awesome Video Gordon 😄😄
She needs to respect him. He is struggling--and Ramsay needs to put the pants on him.
Nobody should have to tell you to support your companion.
