Probably the most important thing I've learned from culinary school is the feedback process. Everything I cook I get feedback on, so I can do it better next time. Its an iterative process. Cook something, get feedback, use the feedback to make it better the second time, until you can make it perfectly.
@@mikeg5238Personally, I’ve never found a person who was completely unable to take feedback:) I think part of the problem is that people don’t have good training on how to give good feedback. Like, don’t attack the person, focus on facts, explain how the solution will solve the problem etc. It’s a two way street.
I don't have a professional background in the culinary arts, but I grew up with a very food-focused Italian/Jewish family who instilled a genuine joy in me for cooking. Part of that involved learning VERY EARLY that you're not gonna be able to please everyone, but asking folks how they feel about your food can make it less likely for mishaps to occur. Sometimes I even ask my gf how she likes the food at restaurants if I know it's something I can recreate and make closer to her preferences. In my opinion, 90% of the fun is knowing your food makes people happy, so I truly don't understand how the owners of this restaurant derived anything even slightly rewarding from what they were doing.

yup, we saw this twice before. That Hamburger place out in California and that Australian fruitloop and his Australian meat pie, and that Bisan burger guy who claimed to raise all his own meat. everyone was "picking" on them lol.
This is an example of mild personality being dominated and bullied by stronger ones. The minute a mild mannered girl like Katy slightly shows strength, those stonger personalities need to knock her down to size. Happens a lot to many people but most dont notice unless it's televised. Truth is, most men like women like Amy, but they usually don't see the "crazy" straight off.

Are you kidding me? The producers were probably getting hard/wet at Amy and Sammy. Television gold. This is what you want from a producer on a show like this.
The thing I noticed the first time I watch this episode, is that both Samy and Amy are enablers of each other. Amy is a narcissist who's afraid of criticism because it cracks her rose-tinted glasses, enabling her husband to defend her "honor" (which builds over the cracks of her ego). And then there's Samy, who is overly proud in himself for work he doesn't even do while taking from those who *are* doing the work, enabling Amy to keep being a whiny "everything's good because I said so" snob.
That is exactly what I get from how their relationship is. But some times I feel like Samy is too afraid to tell her off so he just has to suck it up and defend her. I don't know, I kind of got that when Samy told Ramsey that she doesn't take criticism.
Fun fact.. both Amy and Sammy have criminal pasts. Amy tried to get a loan with someone else's SIN number. And Sammy is Banned from 3 countries. He was deported from the USA 1 year after the show 😂😂😂😂
Gordon's "Yee" as a reply to Amy's "Would you let anyone come into your restaurant and talk to you like that?" At 35:44 is a severely underrated moment in my opinion.
I was in there over 10 years ago but it really seemed only like yesterday when I was in Arizona visiting family and that Amy is fucking nuts. We heard about ABC and thought no way and when I first walked in I was surprised how clean and beautiful the restaurant was and those desserts looked phenomenal OMG and as soon as we sat down we ordered cocktails and a pizza and the pizza was taking forever it was literally 50 minutes so I told the server hey we need to go and I paid for the drinks and left her a $10 tip because she was the most cutest little girl that I’ve ever seen and as I got up I literally heard Amy belittling her customers saying that everybody who goes in there are incompetent and that they are all just jealous and haters because they can’t make food like her and that nobody can keep up with her that if people have a problem with something that was on the menu that they can go fuck themselves they are all losers and I looked at the server and I was like wow how in the hell do you put up with that shit? She looked at me just I mean so cute and said I don’t know it’s a job and I can’t take tips I have to give it to my boss and I was like no you don’t that’s yours why does your boss take it? And she explained why and I said no that’s yours fuck that guy.
I do give Sammy a smidge of credit for trying to console and stop that poor girl server from quitting. From what I've gathered Sammy had connections to organized crime and used the restaurant to launder money and was deported. It also makes me wonder exactly what Amy did in her past to meet him in Las Vegas of all places. Sin City, organized crime, lots of money...I'll leave it at that.
She said he was surrounded by girls and then she met him and made him stop... I think she was one of these "girls" and met her "whale"... lots of women go to Vegas to "work" and find these rich or well-off men they call "whales" and try to trap them into marriage to get out of "working". Happened to a friend of mine.
The absolute GALL of this woman to call those two customers crazy while her lunatic husband is shoving them and screaming at them is absolutely astounding.
When Gordon told them the desserts were good they accepted his comments and said that it means a lot coming from him,how they respected his opinion as he is a world renowned chef. But when he says it's not good all of a sudden his opinion doesn't count.
The line by Katy about the Amy clones would "kill each other off" is funny forever! 10 years on, this episode still delivers. Thanks for the uncensored cut.

The fact that Sammy being the hostile sociopathic criminal he is and still being more mentally composed than his wife is so funny. Like he may have some kind of psychological disorder but Amy is truly insane... Also the mad eyes...
The fact that the first edit of the show was respectful… the producers left out Amy’s troubling marriage problems. But they included it in the second show!
We actually ate at this restaurant after this episode was filmed. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't exceptional either. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, so we didn't have to wait very long for our dinner. The restaurant was very clean and was nicely decorated. Sammy waited on us and we didn't see anyone else. I was kind of afraid Amy would come out of the kitchen, but she never did.
It was this episode of kitchen nightmares that I watched when I was around 12-13 that made me realize how batshit insane my mother was. Not really. It’s a waste of a DAs time unless someone actually gets hurt. Making something too spicy isn’t a crime because normal people would just stop eating it.
It was discovered that all those deserts where ordered in from a local bakery. Watch her face when Gordon compliments the deserts. That thumbnail made me snort in a freaky way at work and I got weird looks. Mad skills. Also, that Karen is so goddamn crazy, it's no surprise her husband got arrested and their businesses failed.
They sold the Bakery a while later and moved to LA where she opened a small cup cake bakery or something like that. Samy got deported back to Israel in 2018 because of a criminal record of extortion and some other things that I can't remember. She moved to Israel with him and they opened a business over there as well I think, but Amy cheated on him and she's now back in USA. Samy supposedly wants a divorce but she refuses. There are some stuff about it on Twitter and Reddit.
that poor girl, Katy deserved none of that, as do all the employees. I felt so bad that she left the restaurant crying and having Amy say that about her. I hope they have found better, especially Katy

Amy did not make those desserts. Bought them from someone else.
@@wuzzlebottomyes from what I understand she bought the cakes and pastry from a commercial bakery and all she did was decorate them, slice them up and put them in the pasty case. But she tried to say they were all hers when she was only half telling the truth. If that was her only sin and if she wasn’t delusional and bat $hit crazy maybe she could have been forgiven
If you pay them a decent hourly wage (e.g. 30$ an hour like Casa Bonita in Colorado and not allowing tips) then no tipping makes sense, but to let the customers think that they're giving money to the server and then having the owner essentially steal it is so disgusting.

Probably the most important thing I've learned from culinary school is the feedback process. Everything I cook I get feedback on, so I can do it better next time. Its an iterative process. Cook something, get feedback, use the feedback to make it better the second time, until you can make it perfectly.
It takes a strong person to actually realize criticism is constructive and a lot of these people take it as insults instead and refuse to changev
These people: "fuck you my food is good and you're wrong"
That makes sense
You can just tell that Amy was never critiqued ever. It’s pretty dangerous if you don’t receive criticism because then you turn up like her.

Right. Idc how old Katie is, if I were her mother I'd go in a slap tf out of Amy for that. What a psycho.
